India Test Tour of Australia 2024: Cricket Australia has unveiled the list of venues for the upcoming 2024 Border Gavaskar Trophy five-match Test Series between India and Australia. This year's Border Gavaskar Trophy series is scheduled to be played in November and December in Australia. The India vs Australia Test Series holds huge significance in light of the forthcoming WTC 2023?25 final. According to Ani, the first match of the Border Gavaskar Test Series is set to take place at Perth?s Optus Stadium.



During the Perth Test match between Australia and Pakistan, the fans turned up to the stadium in very low numbers. But Cricket Australia is keen to work closely with the state government of Western Australia in order to improve the engagement of the fans at the stadium and increase their attendance at the Optus Stadium in Perth.?



According to a news report from ANI, improving the experience of Test cricket in Perth has been a huge priority for Cricket Australia and the Western Australia State Government. The new 60,000-seat Optus Stadium has struggled to attract crowds during Test matches in the last few years, but the stadium has witnessed huge crowd turnovers during the KFC Big Bash League matches of the Perth Scorchers. The highest attendance recorded at the stadium was 28,494 during a Big Bash League match between the Scorchers. The lowest attendance recorded at the Optus Stadium was 17,666 during the Perth Test match between Australia and Pakistan.

India and England are scheduled to tour Australia in the next two years, which is expected to boost the viewership numbers for the test matches in Perth.&nbsp;



The second test match of the 2024 Border-Gavaskar Test Series will be played at Adelaide's Adelaide Oval Stadium, and the third test will be hosted by Brisbane's Gabba.?



The fourth test between India and Australia will be a Boxing Day test match, which is slated to take place at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) of Melbourne, while the fifth and final test match of the 2024 Border Gavaskar test series will be hosted by Sydney's Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG).?



Cricket Australia has not unveiled the schedule for the upcoming cricket season, and an announcement is expected to be made at the end of March. A spokesperson for Cricket Australia told the Sydney Morning Herald that the schedule has not been finalized yet.

India Test Tour of Australia 2024: Cricket Australia has officially unveiled the schedule of the 2024 Border Gavaskar Trophy test series between India and Australia. The two cricket giants will lock horns against each other in a five-match test series, and this is also the first time since 1992 that five tests will be hosted in the 2024 Border Gavaskar series.?



The series kicks off on November 22nd, as the first test match will be played in Perth. The Optus Stadium in Perth is known as one of the quickest venues in the world, and the Indians have struggled at this venue against Australia. The Men in Blue have played four test matches against the Aussies in Perth, and they have managed to win just a single match at Perth and have suffered four defeats as well.?



India's only win in Perth came during the 2008 Border Gavaskar Trophy, which involved the Monkeygate controversy. The 2024 Border Gavaskar series also includes a day and night test match, which will be played at Adelaide?s Adelaide Oval Stadium on December 6.?



Brisbane's Gabba will play host to the third test match between December 14-18. The Indians have fresh memories of the Gabba victory as they defeated the Aussies during the 2020?21 Border Gavaskar series. That's what George Bailey, the chief selector of Australia, also confirmed in one of his statements.
But the recent news has not just raised questions about his availablity but also his participation in the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy. He is set to undergo scans for his sore ankle. Bailey said, "We’ll have to wait and see when the scan comes back and see how it's tracking. There’s a little bit of work to do.”
That indicates that the two-time Champions Trophy winner are in jeopardy. If Cummins couldn't make it in time, then Mitchell Marsh is likely to lead Australia in the mega event, which will begin on February 19. Australia are placed in Group B, and they will begin their campaign on February 22 against England.

The next big destination for cricket fans is the upcoming mega event. It is the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, which is all set to take place in Pakistan and the UAE. We are just five weeks away from the ninth edition, as the tournament will kick off on January 19 in Karachi.
The top 8 teams will be taking part in the tournament and will be divided into two groups of four teams each. But with a little over one month left in the start of the mega event, the drama continues to take new episodes.
Firstly, it was the tensions between the Indian Board and the Pakistan Cricket Board that forced the ICC to go for a hybrid model where India will play all their matches in Dubai after the Indian Board refused to send their team to Pakistan, citing security concerns.

As a result, the ICC added the UAE as the venue for Indian matches in Dubai, which will be a neutral venue. But it looks like the clouds of uncertainty have loomed once again over the hosting rights of the events. As per the latest media reports, it has been learned that the construction work at the three shortlisted venues in Pakistan is nowhere near done. There are 35 left in the start of the tournament, and the renovation work, which began in August last year, has not been completed.
The deadline to complete the renovation work was December 31, which has passed. According to the Times of India, the stadiums are still far away from the completion of the work. As per the TOI's source, some parts of the stadium are still under construction, and the finishing work will take a bit longer. The work to be done related to fencing and placing of floodlights and some other detailing work is still pending.
The three venues to host matches are National Bank Stadium in Karachi, Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, and Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. This came to notice when the PCB decided to shift the coming ODI tri-series in Pakistan, involving New Zealand and South Africa, from Multan to Lahore and Karachi.
However, the PCB has declined all such rumours and said that the work will be done as planned. Notably, the ICC will schedule an inspection, and a team will be sent to check the arrangements of all three venues. PCB will hand over all three venues to ICC on February 12. But if the shortlisted stadiums don't meet the expectations by then, the ICC can shift the entire ICC Champions Trophy 2025 to the UAE.
