Team India Home Tour 2021-22: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Monday, 20th September released team India?s itinerary for the home season 2021-22 which consists of 14 T20Is along with 4 Test matches and 3 ODIs.



New Zealand, West Indies, Sri Lanka and South Africa will be touring India between November 2021 and June 2022 to complete India?s home season for the coming year.



The schedules along with the venues for the scheduled home matches for India was passed during the recently held <a href="https://www.bcci.tv/articles/2021/news/155092/update-9th-apex-council-meeting">9th Apex Council Meeting </a>of the BCCI.



The Kiwis will be visiting India for two test matches and three T20Is in November-December 2021. India will then welcome West Indies for three ODIs and as many T20Is during February 2022.



After successful completion of the West Indies series, India will host the likes of Sri Lanka for three T20Is and two tests along. To wrap the home season, South Africa will visit for five matches T20I series.

India tour of South Africa: Following the detection of a new Covid-19 variant, India tour of South Africa for all format series has come under the radar and considerable concerns have risen. India is due to visit the Rainbow nation in the coming month for a seven-week long assignment.



South Africa will host India for three Test matches, three ODIs and four T20Is that are scheduled over four venues - Johannesburg, Centurion, Paarl, and Cape Town.



The new covid-19 variant has wreaked havoc in the northern part of South Africa and could be dangerous as per the recent reports. Scientists believe that this new variant (B.1.1.529) is more resistant to the vaccine and is more transmissible.



As the covid outburst is predominantly in the Northern part of South Africa, the officials will have to be extremely careful as both India and South Africa are scheduled to play two test matches in Johannesburg and Pretoria (near Centurion).



There could be some change in the quarantine rules as far as South Africa is concerned. The country may impose a week-long hard quarantine upon the arrival and the teams will remain in bio bubbles.



"Look, till we get a detailed picture of the ground situation from Cricket South Africa (CSA), we will not be able to tell our next step. As per the current plan, the Indian team is supposed to leave either on December 8 or 9 just after the New Zealand series gets over in Mumbai," a senior BCCI official told PTI on Friday.

India A is currently touring South Africa for two unofficial test matches series. A PTI official contacted an administrator who is currently with India A squad.



"We didn't undergo any hard quarantine on arrival over here since we came by charter flight and are staying in a bio-bubble. After the outbreak, a medical team from Cricket South Africa had a meeting with our representatives over here,? said the BCCI administrator who is with India A squad.



"We were told that there is nothing to worry since the spike in cases is far away from Bloemfontein where we would be playing our next match too," the official said over phone.



India?s tour to South Africa will begin with a test series commencing on December 17th. Following the completion of the longest format series, South Africa and India will lock horns in the ODI series followed by the T20I series.

India tour of South Africa: The most awaited decision on India?s tour of South Africa 2021 has been rolled out by the Indian cricket board on Saturday. In the 90th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), which was held in Kolkata, the executives officially gave a green signal to the tour of the rainbow nation.



Team India will travel to South Africa, however, there will be a revision in the schedule and itinerary. The tour will begin with three matches test series followed by the as many matches ODI series. The test series will commence on 26th December.



Originally, India and South Africa were slated to play three test matches, three ODIs and four T20I matches, however, the T20I matches have been pushed to a later date. The entrance of the new variant of coronavirus "Omicron" in South Africa prompted the officials to rethink before boarding the flight.



?The tour is now confirmed and the arrival timings of the India team will be moved out by a week, to allow for effective logistical planning,? CSA said in an official statement.

The revised schedule will be confirmed by Cricket South Africa (CSA) in the next 48 hours along with the allocation of venues.



The BCCI secretary Jay Shah also confirmed the development as he said, ?BCCI has confirmed (to the) CSA that (the) Indian team will travel for three Tests and three ODIs. The remaining four T20Is will be played at a later date.?



The tour will now be held under strict covid bio-bubble rules. Fans involvement will be minimised to complete the tour without any further disturbance in the schedule.

India tour of South Africa: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is soon going to announce the complete Indian squad for the tour of South Africa that includes three test matches and as many ODIs. The tour is scheduled to commence on December 26th after getting postponed by a week?s time following the concerns of the Omicron variant of coronavirus.



However, in the meantime, it has been learnt that the Indian selectors will not have many debatable options for the Indian test squad against South Africa. While a few players have sustained injuries, while some young players in the Indian test team have outplayed the likes of veteran players and are likely to be replaced which makes the squad selections way easier for the selection committee.



As per a report in Indian Express, all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, opening batsman Shubman Gill and senior pacer Ishant Sharma are likely to be dropped for the tour of South Africa.



Both the all-rounders Ravindra Jadeja and Axar Patel are injured. The former has sustained a ligament tear while the latter is learnt to have a stress fracture. Both the cricketers are likely to be sidelined for the tour.



?All-rounder Ravindra Jadeja suffered a right forearm injury during the 1st Test match in Kanpur. After undergoing scans, he was diagnosed with a swelling on his forearm. He has been advised rest and is thus ruled out of the 2nd Test in Mumbai,? the BCCI release had stated ahead of the start of the Wankhede encounter.

If the reports are to be believed, Jadeja is expected to take months to recuperate well from his injury. He is foreseen to make a proper comeback in competitive cricket during the IPL 2022.



Opening batsman Shubman Gill has sustained a shin injury. He was, earlier, ruled out of the India tour of England due to his shin stress injury and is likely to be ruled out of the upcoming tour of South Africa with the same injury.



As far as Ishant Sharma?s selection is concerned, the pacer was benched in the second test match due to his poor form. He was replaced by Mohammad Siraj who is again likely to get a nod ahead of Ishant in the test series against South Africa, starting December 26.

Virat Kohli to skip 3 matches ODI series against South Africa: In what comes as a shocker for the BCCI and Indian cricket fans, red ball captain Virat Kohli is likely to pull out of the upcoming 3 matches One Day International (ODI) series against South Africa. A report in Insidesport reported, the cricketer has informed the same to the Indian cricket board.



Team India is scheduled to travel to South Africa for a three matches Test and Three matches ODI series. The tour will begin on 26th December with the red ball matches.



Virat Kohli, who has been recently sacked from ODI captaincy, cited that the ODI series against the Rainbow nation coincides with his daughter?s first birthday hence he won?t be available.



Earlier, in the day, the BCCI in a statement ruled out new test vice-captain Rohit Sharma after he sustained a serious hamstring injury while practicing in Mumbai. ?Rohit sustained a left hamstring injury &amp; will not be available for the 3 match test series,? said BCCI in a statement.

If Virat makes himself unavailable for the ODI series, this will be a massive blow for team India. Moreover, Rohit Sharma?s participation in the ODI series is still under thick clouds as his hamstring injury is deemed serious.

Earlier, some reports indicated that Rohit Sharma before taking T20I captaincy demanded a comprehensive hold of the white ball leadership. Sharma was reported to have shown reluctance in taking T20I leadership solely.

?I haven?t talked to him (Virat Kohli) yet. His phone is switched off for some reason. But as far as my opinion is concerned, he had specifically stepped down from T20 captaincy and the selectors should?ve straightaway asked him to step down from both the white-ball formats or not step down at all,? Rajkumar Sharma, Virat?s childhood coach, said on Khelneeti podcast.



Though KL Rahul has been earlier appointed Rohit Sharma's deputy in the T20I format, the vice-captain of ODIs is yet to be revealed by the BCCI. It will be interesting to see who takes up the leadership charge if Rohit Sharma and Virat both become unavailable for the ODI series.

After losing the Test series 2-1, Team India suffered a disappointing whitewash at the hands of South Africa on their home turf in the ODI series. The hosts won all the matches of the 3 match series and inflicted a humiliating defeat upon the Blues. This was KL Rahul?s first major series as team India?s ODI captain and he would definitely like to forget his captaincy debut.&nbsp;

Moreover he made way too many mistakes as the Team?s Captain for which India had to suffer and thus he gets a rating of 3 out of 10. His performance in the Test series was way better.&nbsp;

2. Virat Kohli - 6/10



Virat Kohli was the second highest run scorer for India in the ODI series against South Africa. He scored 51 runs in the first ODI and 65 off 84 in the third ODI while making a duck in the second match. However the former Indian skipper looked very promising in this series and showed signs that he would return to his best form soon.&nbsp;

3. Shikhar Dhawan - 9/10



Undoubtedly the best performer in the series against South Africa. He was India?s highest runs scorer (169 runs) and he was consistent in every single match. He scored 79, 29 and 61 runs respectively in the three matches and proved his haters wrong in the series. After a stellar performance against South Africa, the selectors are bound to consider bringing Shikhar Dhawan back to India?s international setup.&nbsp;

4. Shreyas Iyer - 2/10



Shreyas Iyer?s performance in the series was very disappointing. He had been phenomenal in the Test series against New Zealand and much more was expected of him. Sadly he scored just 54 runs in the entire series and failed to impress the netizens.&nbsp;

Suryakumar Yadav played only in the third ODI and scored 39 runs. He was quite good but just one match is not a good enough domain to judge him and thus he gets a rating of 4. It is a big question mark as to why Suryakumar Yadav was not utilized in the first two matches but after this, he will definitely be considered by Rahul Dravid in the upcoming series.&nbsp;

6. Rishabh Pant - 5/10



Rishabh Pant scored a brilliant knock of 85 runs in the second match but that was pretty much it from his part. He failed to impress in the other two matches although he was good at the back of the wicket. His position in the team, however, remains secure as India do not have any proper replacement for Rishabh Pant in all the formats. Although Ishan Kishan is an option, he is highly inconsistent.?

Perhaps the worst performer of Team India in the ODI series against South Africa. After his brilliant knocks in IPL 2021 and domestic cricket, Venkatesh Iyer got his maiden call up from the national team but so far he has failed to impress at the International level. Iyer scored just 24 runs in total and picked up zero wickets.&nbsp;

Bhuvneshwar Kumar was very poor in the series. He failed to pick up any wicket and was also very expensive. He played two matches. Bhuvneshwar Kumar has now had a series of successive failures in a row and this will probably mark the end of his International career.?

As expected, Jasprit Bumrah was once agains the torch bearer of India?s bowling unit in the South Africa series and he was their best bowler. Bumrah picked up 5 wickets in the three matches and his economy rate was very good too. He picked up at least 1 wicket in every match and was the most consistent of the lot.&nbsp;

BCCI likely to omit bio-bubbles for India?s home series against South Africa: Reports: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is likely to exclude the requirement of a controlled environment in the upcoming five matches T20I series between India and South Africa. The decision to omit bio-bubble is taken keeping in mind the player?s mental well-being.



Ever since the unprecedented rise in the COVID cases was seen, the bio-bubbles became part of the lives of every sportsperson. The tournaments and international competitions began to continue with proper bio-bubble safety following the havoc wreaked by the dreaded virus.



However, with the situation getting better, countries are looking on easing the curbs for everyone, including the sportsperson.&nbsp;



The fifteenth edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is being played following a proper bio-bubble protocol. The 2-month long competition will end on 29th May and officials don?t want players to straightaway jump from one strict environment to another.?



The five matches T20I series between India and South Africa will be played across five different venues in India - Delhi, Cuttack, Vizag, Rajkot, and Bengaluru. The T20I series will kickstart on June 9.



"If all goes well and things remain in control like it is right now, there will be no bio-bubbles and hard quarantine during the home series against South Africa," a senior BCCI official told PTI on conditions of anonymity.



"Then we are going to Ireland and England and there won't be any bio-bubble in those countries too.



The official further added that bio-bubbles in a long run are not sustainable for any sporting event. It would eventually take a toll on players? mental health which is quite dangerous.



?Some players have got periodic breaks but if you look at the bigger picture, living in bio-bubble one series after another and now two months of IPL is simply exhausting for the players,? he said.

<h2>Break for senior players:</h2>



All the senior players will be given periodic breaks during the five T20I matches against South Africa. The likes of skipper Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah, Ravindra Jadeja and others will get an adequate breather before they board a flight to the UK.



?There are five T20 Internationals between June 9 to 19 in five cities. Obviously, all the players won?t be playing all the games. Some might be given total rest and some might play a few games.



?If these guys aren?t given systemic breaks, it will only harm them. But obviously, the duration of break will be decided by selectors after talking to head coach (Rahul Dravid),? the source added.

Virat Kohli to be rested for home T20I series against South Africa: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is reportedly contemplating resting batting maestro Virat Kohli for India's home T20I series against South Africa. Team India is scheduled to host the Proteas for a five-match T20I series, starting June 9.



Virat Kohli?s slim patch in the Indian Premier League (IPL) is worrisome. The cricketer hasn?t been able to score consistently and has notched up three ducks in the ongoing season.&nbsp;



A senior BCCI official informed that the senior players will be given rest as they all have been in bio-bubbles for a long time.?Moreover, with a lot of international commitments lined ahead, the players need to get some time off after the IPL 2022.



?Virat Kohli in all probability will be rested for the South Africa series. He has been playing a lot of cricket and has been in the bubble for a long time. It has been a policy decision regarding Kohli and other senior players that they will be given periodic breaks from time to time,? a senior BCCI official was quoted by NDTV Sports.



Notably, Virat has only managed to score 215 runs from 12 IPL outings in the ongoing edition of the tournament. The right-handed batter has only managed to score a half-century and played with a poor strike rate of 111.34.



The BCCI official further informed that apart from Virat Kohli, team India?s skipper Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, Rishabh Pant, and Jasprit Bumrah are a couple of other names that will be rested for the series against South Africa.



?Even skipper Rohit Sharma would require adequate rest with so much cricket being played. Some of the others include KL Rahul, Jasprit Bumrah, and Rishabh Pant, who all from time to time will need rest,? the official added.



Evidently, with a lot of senior players getting a break, the selectors will give chances to youngsters to hone their skills and impress everyone in the IPL 2022. The likes of Umran Malik, Tilak Verma and Arshdeep Singh have caught selectors' keen eyes.

Hardik, Shikhar in line to become Indian?s skipper for T20I series against SA: All-rounder Hardik Pandya and opener batter Shikhar Dhawan are in selector's target to hand team India's captaincy role for the home T20I series against South Africa and away series against Ireland as the senior players will be given much-needed break from competitive cricket.



The home series against South Africa for five T20Is will begin on June 9 while India's tour of Ireland for 2 T20Is will kickstart on June 26. The squad for both tours is expected to be rolled out on May 22nd.



Notably, the likes of Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, Jasprit Bumrah and Rishabh Pant will be given rest for the two subsequent series as a part of their workload management. The aforementioned players are constantly playing cricket for the last couple of months and BCCI wants all of them fresh for the tour of England, starting July 1.



"All the senior India players will get at least three and half weeks of complete rest. Rohit, Virat, KL, Rishabh and Jasprit will all directly go to England for the 'fifth Test' following the white-ball series. We need all our key players to remain fresh for the England series," a senior BCCI source privy to the development told PTI on the condition of anonymity.



It has been learnt that Shikhar Dhawan, who has led team India in absence of Rohit, Virat and Rahul in the past, along with Hardik Pandya, who has been impressive in his maiden stint as the captain of the IPL franchise - Gujarat Titans, are in line to lead the men in blue for the two upcoming shortest format tours.



"The selectors have a couple of choices. Shikhar Dhawan, as he has already captained India in absence of Virat, Rohit and Rahul during last year's Sri Lanka series. But Hardik Pandya's impressive captaincy for Gujarat Titans hasn't gone unnoticed. So it will be a close call," said the source when asked about the choice of leadership.

It is further understood that pace sensation Umran Malik is too raw to be given a maiden call for the national team. Though his 150 plus bolts have generated a fair bit of excitement amongst everyone, however, a couple of India A tours would help him discover himself and get better with his strengths.



Lucknow Super Giant?s left-arm pacer Moshin Khan has reportedly excited the selectors with his brilliant pace, bounce and swing and is in the mix to get a maiden call-up in the T20I squad.



"Mohsin has impressed almost everyone with his pace, bounce and swing in this edition. He does have a chance. Having said that, not ruling out Umran or Arshdeep either, but Mohsin might just be slightly ahead," he added.



It is important to note that Suryakumar Yadav, Ravindra Jadeja and Deepak Chahar won?t be named in the squad due to their respective injury concerns. All the three cricketers are ruled out of the Tata IPL 2022 and are undergoing their rehab program.?

All eyes were on fast bowler Mohammed Shami in the nets practice who bowled with his left knee heavily bandaged. First, he started warming up slowly under the supervision of bowling coach Morne Morkel. Initially running with small steps, Shami bowled for about an hour. After this, he did fielding practice to test his knee.
The 34-year-old slowly started to witness his fitness improve as he found his rhythm and bowled in a quick manner with a long run-up. He troubled young Indian batters like Tilak Varma and Abhishek Sharma in the nets and gave a tough challenge to the duo with a quick movement and bounce of the surface.

It's worth noting that at present, International League T20 (ILT20) matches are currently being played in the stadium of Dubai. Following the conclusion of that tournament, the Champions Trophy 2025 matches will be played and there will be a gap of 10 days between the end of ILT20 and Champions Trophy 2025.
The curator believes that the pitch will be set up easily as the gap of 10 days will be more than enough to help his team set up a proper Cricketing pitch. His team is really skillful and Cricket matches keep taking place in Dubai for the entire year so they have more than enough experience to create a good surface.
<h2>The weather of Dubai and Pakistan is different</h2>
Regarding the highly intense India versus Pakistan Champions Trophy clash, Sandery said, " We don't take a look at which teams are playing versus each other. We give our best to prepare a good pitch. The conditions in Dubai are very different in comparison to Pakistan. The temperature there currently is 10 degrees Celsius while here it's 30 degrees Celsius. 
"The atmosphere of Dubai is very different. The shadow of the roof of the stadium falls on the pitch by the afternoon period. By 4:30 pm, the shadow falls on the entire surface. In such a situation, it's difficult to compare the surface of Dubai with any other place around the world. We will be giving our best prepare the best possible Cricketing surface for the Champions Trophy matches," Sandery added.
<h2>Chemicals are being used to avoid the dew coming into play</h2>
Sandery was asked whether there is any kind of pressure on him? To which he replied by saying, "Definitely, the job of a pitch curator is not easy and there's a lot of pressure to create good wickets. But we are ready. It doesn't matter how many days are left, we are ready for the challenge ahead of us".
He also made a major revelation that since dew plays an important role in determing the fate of white-ball contests, chemicals are being sprayed to limit it's effect and the results are very evident in the ongoing International League T20 tournament.
