BCCI expecting 7000 Crores to 10,000 Crores for two new IPL teams each.



IPL 2022: The market of Indian cricket has become hot with the approaching bidding day for the two new Indian Premier League (IPL) franchises. If the reports are to be believed, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is expecting anything around INR 7000 Crores to INR 10,000 Crores for each new team joining in the gala Indian tournament from the next edition in 2022.



The bidding process for the two new IPL teams will begin on 25h October, the day after the India-Pakistan clash in the T20 World Cup 2021, in Dubai.



It has been learnt that as many as 22 companies/businesses have picked up the Invitation To Tender (ITT) document floated out by the BCCI, which is worth INR 10 Lakhs. The base price for each franchise is kept at INR 2000 Crores by the BCCI.



As far as a qualification to bid for a new franchise is concerned, the BCCI has allowed consortium bids up to three businesses/individuals/companies with each participant having an annual turnover of INR 2500 Crores while in case of individual bids the company or business must have a minimum annual turnover of INR 3000 Crores.

Gautam Adani and Sanjeev Goenka's RPSG group are the two frontrunners to make successful bids. The Adani Group is expected to bid for the Ahmedabad franchise.



"Gautam Adani and Sanjiv Goenka are the biggest names in the Indian industry. They will be serious bidders. Expect a minimum bid of Rs 3,500 crore from the potential bidders. Don't forget that IPL broadcast rights is projected around $5 billion (Rs 36,000 Crore). So the economics will work accordingly as franchises get the TV revenue share equally,? said PTI official.



Besides the Adani and RPSG?s Kotak group, Aurobindo Pharma, Torrent group, Lancer Capital (Avram Glazer owner of Man United) and Naveen Jindal are a few other interested entities to operate a new IPL franchise.

Ness Wadia, the co-ower of Punjab Kings (PBKS), feels it?s high time for the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to allow franchisees to play the showcase matches outside the Indian territory as it will only strengthen the IPL as a brand.



Indian Premier League?s (IPL) brand value took off recently after several giant overseas corporate entities came under one roof to place their bids to acquire the operations of one of the two new teams. The elite competition not only garnered a whopping $1.5 Billion but also attracted some of the famed bidders from the global sports community.



Wadia took it to no surprise after investors showed their keenness to shell out a handsome sum to operate the IPL Franchise. He reckons that constant innovation is the need of the hour for any business to flourish in front of the entire world.

?I don?t think the numbers are mindboggling. Sport is big business now. It is a good investment. The league truly deserves it. These are serious businessmen we are talking about. They invest in things with a purpose. It has taken us 14 years to reach where the league deserves to be. I am happy that it has finally happened,? said Wadia as quoted by the New Indian Express.



The further suggested the cricket governing body of India to allow the IPL teams to carry out a few exhibition matches in different countries based on the availability of the key players.



?The BCCI must consider having off-season matches to be held in places where there is a big Indian diaspora. That will grow the IPL even more. A bunch of three or five games in the off-season based on player availability. Hypothetically, allow the top four franchisees every year to play a few games in, for example, Miami or in Toronto or in Singapore. It will only strengthen what already is a strong product,? he added.

The franchise earlier sacked David Warner from his captaincy and appointed Kane Williamson as the leader of the group. Warner was not given enough reasons for his removal and thus the franchise was amidst the public rage over their behaviour toward David Warner.

The eight-time Olympic champion runner, Usain Bolt, has decided to try the sport of cricket as his new profession. The legendary sprinter has expressed his inclination towards the sport of cricket several times in the past. He has also admitted that he wanted to be a cricketer, not a Sprinter, however, he chose the latter option as his father insisted on him.



The sprinter has recently revealed that he is aiming for the cash-rich Indian Premier League and has started practising cricket. The 35-years old wants to play cricket, more precisely the Indian T20 league.



The revealed that on his father?s advice, he took up Sprint as his career in which he bagged eight Olympic golds.&nbsp;



?My father is a huge cricket fan, but when I got to higher secondary, I had two options ? cricket or athletics. My dad said because of the system in Jamaica; it would be better to take up athletics. You just have to run fast in athletics while it?s tougher to get into the national (cricket) team?,? Bolt had told AFP during his promotional visit to India in 2014.

?Definitely. I will get my training on. I?ll get fit and get ready. The two main sports in Jamaica at the time was actually was football and cricket. I was a massive fan of cricket because my dad was a fan of it. He watched it every day, every chance you get, you would watch all the teams play so I grew up watching cricket.?



Bolt added that while growing up, he used to love watching the Pakistan team in action. He was a huge fan of pacer Waqar Younis but then realised that as a Jamaican he should support his home team.&nbsp;

IPL 2022 Player Retentions: The recent IPL 2022 Player Retentions embarked on a new era in the Indian Premier League (IPL). The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has expanded the cash-rich league with two new teams getting added to the mix.?



The auctions and player retentions have never been easy, neither for the franchises nor for the fans. The teams bid farewell to some of their brilliant players. The already well-settled teams will have to do excessive work to bring their players back during the IPL 2022 Auction.&nbsp;



On 30th November, the franchises revealed their top four confirmed retentions for the coming season and their respective salaries. Some players have received a pay raise while some have seen a little dip in their annual salary in the IPL.

The franchise believes in the capabilities of their young players who have made things possible for them over these last few years. One such name is Prithvi Shaw, who has been remarkable for the franchise at the top order.

The only capped retention of Punjab Kings (PBKS), Mayank Agarwal, has also suffered a pay cut. Agarwal is retained by PBKS for INR 12 Crores cutting down INR 2 Crores from his salary.&nbsp;



The salary of first choice retention, in case of only two retentions, was INR 14 Crores, however, Mayank Agarwal is getting INR 12 Crores only. PBKS has also retained uncapped pacer Arshdeep Singh for INR 4 Crores.



Punjab Kings (PBKS) unfortunately could not end their barren run in the last season of the IPL. The franchise did everything right during the auction to bag hefty players, however, the outcomes didn?t come in their favour.?They ended their last IPL campaign at a low as they couldn't qualify for the playoffs.

Experts believe that Chakravarthy?s stocks went down during the recent ICC T20 World Cup 2021. He wasn?t able to pick wickets in the major tournament. 



Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) made a radical turnaround in the IPL 2021 second leg in the UAE. KKR suffered a horrible outing in the first phase of the IPL 2021, however, the forced break due to covid-scare changed their fortunes as they went on to become the runner-up of the tournament.

Axar has established himself as one of the most reliable players in every format he plays. He is a crafty bowler with the canny ability to pick wickets. He is also a handy batsman at lower order.

Ravi Shastri opens up on his IPL Franchise coaching prospects in the IPL 2022.



IPL 2022: Former Indian head coach Ravi Shastri in his recent conversation with ?The Week,? said that he is absolutely ready to take up the coaching role for any IPL Franchise in the coming season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) as he is well aware of the thinking process of the cricketers of the present generation.?



Shastri recently quit his coaching roles in team India after India?s early crash in the ICC T20 World Cup 2021. India lost two of its most important matches to Pakistan and New Zealand following which India?s chances of moving to the semis of the World Cup got diminished.



In the recent past, even before Shastri quit national duties, he was reported to have been approached by the officials of Ahmedabad based IPL franchise for the coaching role. Though it?s not confirmed, but Shastri along with Bharat Arun and R Sridhar are likely to link up with Ahmedabad for the IPL 2022.



?If asked, I would 100 per cent like to be a franchise coach. I will definitely do broadcast work. I have 25 years of experience there and have travelled the globe. [Also,] I now know how the modern player thinks,? Shastri was quoted as saying to The Week.

?I decided in England that this was it. We had been on the road for two years. I needed to spend time with family. There is a time and place for everything. I had done my time. I gave it all, came [to the job] without any agenda,? he stated.



The 59-years old also heaped praises on Indian skipper Virat Kohli for his evolution as a cricketer and as the captain of the team. He reckons that it?s quite arduous to be the captain of the Indian side and he carried it through all these years and still continue to do so efficiently.



?At the end of the day, he has been a tactically sound captain. Efficient. People will always judge you by results, or not by how you got the runs, but how many runs you scored. He has evolved well; he has matured as a player. It is not easy being captain of the Indian team,? Shastri added.

IPL 2022 Mega Auction Date: The hype around the elite Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 has grown even bigger as the latest reports from the media sources reveal the dates for the upcoming IPL 2022 Mega Auction. The much-needed update on the news of the IPL 2022 Mega Auction is here.



The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and IPL Governing Council has confirmed that the IPL 2022 Mega Auction will be held in the first week of February. The auction will be a two days event, similar to the other mega auctions that happened in 2018.

The BCCI has formed a panel of judges to check the business roots of the CVC Capitals as betting is banned in India.

BCCI exploring all options: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is considering hosting the upcoming fifteenth edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) overseas due to the abrupt rise in the covid-19 cases in India. The third wave of covid-19 has forced the BCCI to think out of the box, however, the cricket board is still prioritising to host the cash-rich IPL in India itself.



The official sources close to the BCCI say that the board is closely monitoring the covid situation in the country. As of now schedules and venues have not been finalised.



As of Sunday, India reported 1,59,632 covid cases that is 12.4 per cent higher than that on Saturday. Out of 1,59,632, India encountered 3,623 new cases of the highly infectious Omicron variant of coronavirus.



The mega event, IPL 2022, is expected to kickstart in early April 2022. The tournament is foreseen to run for at least two and half month period and the final is expected to be held in the first or second week of June.



The BCCI is not in any hurry to host the tournament. The sources informed that the board firstly wants to see how state governments and central government reacts to the covid situation in the country.



With the surge in covid cases, many state governments have imposed strict night curfews and curbs.?Strong penalties have been ordered for any breach in the rules and regulations. Moreover, all the public gatherings have been minimised in order to prevent the mass spread of the virus again.

"We are exploring all options which include overseas IPL as well. But our focus is to host IPL in India for sure. As of now our priority is the auction, we will soon take a call," said the source.



Ahead of the IPL 2022, the governing body will be hosting the IPL 2022 Mega Auction. The mega event is likely to be held on 12th and 13th February in Bangalore.



It is noteworthy that BCCI, this time, is exploring other options for hosting the IPL except in the UAE. In the last two seasons of the IPL, hosted in the UAE, almost every match became one-sided with the due settling-in in the latter part of the match. The second team to bat gained a fair advantage and BCCI doesn?t want that to happen again.



UAE is surely not considered to host anymore IPL seasons. Australia has emerged as the most probable place to host the cash-rich league. Down Under is an attractive place to play cricket. The crowd support is immense and the grounds don?t support one-sided fixtures.



However, we will have to wait for the BCCI?s call on where it wants to host the IPL 2022. Surely the first priority will be India, but if the situation doesn?t permit, the overseas options will be explored by the BCCI.
