The Indian Women Cricket team has won the silver medal at the Commonwealth Games 2022. The women in blue did exceptionally well but lost to Australia in the Finals. The match between India and Australia was cut-throat. Both the teams displayed a high level of cricket. The top performers for India were Renuka Singh and Sneh Rana with the ball. But the boat of the Australian was rescued by senior players Beth Mooney and Meg Lanning. Lanning has been impressive in most of the games against the Indians. Women?s IPL likely to have 5 teams, 20 league matches in 2 venues: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is speeding its process to host the first-ever season of the Women?s Indian Premier League (IPL) next year. The inaugural edition of the Women?s IPL is likely to be played amongst five teams, as indicated by a report published in Cricbuzz.



It further suggested that the tentative window for the first edition of Women?s IPL will be March 2023, that is, after the Women?s T20 World Cup in South Africa and before the Men?s Indian Premier League (IPL).&nbsp;



Each of the five teams may choose to play five overseas players - 4 from ICC?s full member nations and one player can be picked from the associate countries. Notably, in Men?s IPL, only four overseas players are allowed to be named in the playing11.



?A maximum of four of the overseas players in the XI can be from the ICC Full Member nations, it?s being considered, whereas the remaining one can be from an Associate Nation,? said the report.



The decision of naming teams - either zone-wise or team-wise format - is yet to be done. The development is likely to proceed after the IPL office bearers meeting.



?Zone wise ? North (Dharamsala/Jammu), South (Kochi/Vizag), Central (Indore/Nagpur/Raipur), East (Ranchi/Cuttack), North East (Guwahati) and West (Pune/Rajkot) ? with matches held at non-IPL venues) and existing city-wise like with Men?s IPL (Ahmedabad, Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, Kolkata ? with matches held at IPL venues),? added the report.

As far as the playing format is concerned, 20 league-stage matches will be held amongst the five teams. Each side may play the other twice in the league stage. After the end of the league stage, the team at the top of the points table will directly qualify for the finals, while the second and third-ranked sides will play out the eliminator. The winner of the eliminator will then play the final with the top-ranked team.



All the 20 league stage games are likely to be held in two venues in a city, just like the IPL 2022 was held in Maharashtra.



?With only 20 league games in consideration, as few as two venues will be involved per season for the WIPL. So the inaugural 2023 season could be played at two of the aforementioned venues, the 2024 season at the other two and 2025 at the remaining one plus one of the venues of the 2023 season,? concluded the report.

Australia tour of India (Women) 2022: The Australian Women's team is going to tour India for 5 T20Is. Australia will leave for India on December 4. The first of the five T20Is is on December 9. All-rounder Heather Graham received another call-up, and young gun Phoebe Litchfield and former Ireland international Kim Garth sprinted into Australia's women's T20 team to tour India. Tuesday morning, Cricket Australia released their 15-player squad, with new vice-captain Tahlia McGrath and new stand-in captain Alyssa Healy. Meg Lanning, who is again unable to lead the team on this trip, is replaced by Healy.



Both champion teams will be able to build on this series as they continue to get ready for the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2023 to be held in South Africa. The last time these two teams faced off was in the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games final, where the Australians triumphed by a margin of nine runs to claim the gold medal.

He added, "India will be a good test; they're a strong side and the two teams have had some good battles in recent times. Without Meg and Rachael, this series will provide opportunities for players, particularly in the top order, so we're looking forward to seeing who puts their hand up."



Talking on Grath, the Melbourne Stars in the WBBL, Flegler said, "It's pleasing to have been able to reward Phoebe, Kim, and Heather for strong form throughout the WBBL and hopefully they get the chance to show what they can do at some stage during the series."



"We've had an eye on Phoebe for a while and she's really taken her game to the next level this summer. She's made her mark at the top of the order for the Sydney Thunder and we're looking forward to seeing what she can do in Australian colors. Kim's another who's been in our thinking, she's had a couple of strong seasons with the ball and adds extra depth to our pace bowling stocks," Flegler added.



"Heather hasn't had many opportunities to break into the side, but she's toiled away with both bat and ball in domestic cricket. She adds depth to the middle order and provides Shelley and Alyssa with another pace bowling option."



"Alyssa will get the chance to lead the side in Meg's absence which is exciting, and Tahlia will no doubt take plenty from being her deputy. She's worked hard on developing that side of her game and thoroughly deserves the opportunity," he concluded.

Smriti Mandhana has been the best all-format women's cricketer for Team India for a while now. She is consistently scoring runs and breaking records with her bat. That's what she did in the ongoing ODI match against the Ireland women. The third game between India women and Ireland women is underway at Niranjan Shah Stadium in Rajkot.
India won the toss and decided to bat first. Captain Mandhana, along with youngster Pratika Rawal, went on to register a massive opening stand. Both batters added 233 runs in just 26.4 overs. This is the fourth 100-run opening stand between the opening duo for India in just 6 innings.
Mandhana slammed her 10th WODI ton and reached the landmark in just 70 balls. With that, she recorded the fastest ODI hundred by an Indian women's cricketer. She went past Harmanpreet Kaur's tally of an 87-ball hundred. With this, the Indian opener also achieved a number of records.

The left-hander reached her century off just 70 balls and registered the fastest ODI ton by an Indian women cricketer. This was her 10th ton in this format, and she became the first Indian to reach the double figure in ODI centuries by an Indian women cricketer. Now, she has the joint-third most centuries in WODIs.
Australia's Meg Lanning (15), New Zealand's Suzie Bates (13), and England's Tammy Beaumont (10) are ahead of her only. Mandhana got out after scoring 135 runs off just 80 balls, with 12 fours and seven sixes, with a strike rate of 168.75. With this, she also equalled Harmanpreet's record for most sixes by an Indian women cricketer in an ODI innings.
Harmanpreet did it against Australia during the 2017 Women's ODI World Cup when she slammed an unbeaten 171 off 115 balls. The left-hander has scored 996 runs since 2024 in WODIs in just 16 innings with four half-centuries and five centuries, while no other batter has reached even the 700-run mark.
She also added the third-highest opening stand of 233 along with Pratika in this game. Notably, Mandhana is leading the team as Harmanpreet has been rested from this series. India have already won the first two games, and they are looking for a 3-0 whitewash here.

Defending champions India started their ICC Women's T20 U19 World Cup 2025 campaign with a resounding victory over the West Indies at the picturesque Bayeumas Oval in Kuala Lumpur.

After winning the toss and opting to bowl under overcast conditions, India delivered a stellar all-round performance. Joshitha VJ set the tone with a fiery opening spell, trapping West Indies skipper Samara Ramnath LBW in her second over. She followed it up with a second wicket off the next delivery, dismissing Naijanni Cumberbatch for a duck. The spin duo of Aayushi Shukla and Parunika Sisodia then tightened the noose. Shukla claimed two wickets, while Sisodia finished with an impressive three-wicket haul.

Indian fielders added to the Windies' misery, executing three run-outs to clean up the tail. Apart from Asabi Callender and Kenika Cassar, no other batter offered significant resistance as the West Indies were bowled out for 44.

Chasing 45, India lost opener G Trisha on the second ball of the innings. However, Kamalini G and Sanika Chalke stabilized the innings, guiding India home in just 4.2 overs. With dark clouds looming and rain threatening, they raced against the weather and secured victory just as the rain began to fall.

India and England will be locking horns with each other in the five-match T20I series. Both teams have a mixed combination of seniors and youngsters in the team, and with the way they have played of late, it's fair to say that it will be an exciting series to watch. 
Coming to the first T20I, Ravichandran Ashwin backed Sanju Samson and Abhishek Sharma to open the innings for the team. The duo has been doing a decent job together as an opener and would be hoping to carry on the same form in the upcoming first match. 
Sanju Samson was at his exceptional best in the T20Is last year as he slammed three tons. While on the other hand, Abhishek Sharma hasn't been able to maintain consistency. Hence the series will be extremely important for him with the bat. 
At No.3, Ravichandran Ashwin picked Tilak Varma. The left-hander oozed his class with the bat in the last series against South Africa. He batted at No.3 and slammed two back-to-back centuries. Skipper Suryakumar Yadav, as per Ashwin, will bat at No.4.
Hardik Pandya, Nitish Kumar Reddy and Axar Patel are the three all-rounders picked by Ravichandran Ashwin in his Indian XI for the first IND vs ENG T20I. They are expected to play a major role with the bat and ball.

Former Pakistan cricketer Basit Ali talked about the delay in the squad of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 for the Pakistan team. He said that it might look like they are scared of announcing the team, but it seems that they don't know what to do. 
The ICC Champions Trophy 2025 is around the corner and all the teams have named their squad for the tournament except the hosts Pakistan. The Men in Green are yet to announce the team even though the deadline of 12th January has already been surpassed by a long margin. 
India, Australia, England, South Africa, New Zealand, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan have all revealed their squad for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. This has made many speculate about why Pakistan isn't announcing their squad for the tournament, which is less than one month away. 
There have been several reports that Pakistan will be announcing their squad for the tournament soon. They are awaiting the fitness of a few players, and hence, they will soon be naming the team. Some reports also have revealed the players who will be playing, but an official announcement is yet to come.

"Pakistan kya darr gaya jo abhi tak team announce nahi ki? Nahi dara nahi hai. Samajh nahi aa rahi hai -- karein to kya karein? (Is Pakistan scared to announce their squad? No, it isn't, just unsure what to do and what not). The biggest issue is whether Saim Ayub can return fit or not. It's still not clear." 
It remains to be seen when will Pakistan announce the squad for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. The tournament is all set to take place from 19th February, with the final all set to be played on 9th March.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has issued a warning to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) over the jersey controversy ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. This comes after the Indian governing body refused to write 'Pakistan' on their kits for the tournament. 
The ICC Champions Trophy 2025, which is all set to be hosted by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), is scheduled to begin on 19th February. The preparations for the tournament are on, and the ICC and the PCB are taking every step possible to make sure that everything is right on track. 
However, a controversy recently erupted after BCCI refused to write Pakistan on their jersey for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. Notably, every participating nation, as per the ICC policy, has to write the name of the host nation below the logo of the tournament on their jersey. 
After BCCI refused to sport it, Pakistan Cricket Board officials made a strong statement, saying that BCCI is trying to use politics in every matter. He, however, mentioned that they are hopeful that ICC will support them and India will be asked to write the name of the jersey on their kits for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.

Following this, BCCI also reacted, and the insider from the governing body said that since they are playing in Dubai, it isn't mandatory for them to wear the 'Pakistan written jersey'. The BCCI also stressed that they didn't write Pakistan's name on the podium of the Trophy tours as well. 
Amid all this, ICC has come up with a strong response for the BCCI. An ICC official mentioned that it is the responsibility of the host nation to add the tournament logo to their jersey. He stated: 
"It is the responsibility of every team to add the tournament logo to their jerseys. All teams are obligated to comply with this rule," an ICC official said as per A-Sports, as quoted by NDTV. 
Not only this, it is learned that the ICC also warned BCCI that they would be taking strict action if they didn't wear the Pakistan-written jersey during the tournament.
