South Africa?s all-rounder Chris Morris shattered all the past records as he became the most expensive buy of IPL history. The mega event started silently with some of the big names going sold but it picked the pace with all the teams fighting hard to get the desired players.



Out of 292 players, 62 players got the bids in the IPL 2021 Auction, while there were some names that went unsold despite having tremendous records in the other leagues or for their respective national side.

Vivo IPL 2021: Mitchell Marsh pulled out of IPL 2021 for SRH, Jason Roy comes in as his replacement.



Vivo IPL 2021: Australian batting all-rounder Mitchell Marsh has pulled out of the Vivo IPL 2021 citing personal reasons. Sunrisers Hyderabad roped in English cricketer Jason Roy as his replacement.



Mitchell Marsh was seen in action last time in Australia vs New Zealand T20I series in early March. The cricketer will have to go through a seven days quarantine protocol upon arriving in India supplemented with a long tedious bio-bubble stretch. According to the reports, Marsh was not ready to go through all these hard protocols for such a long stretch and hence he pulled back his name.



England opener Jason Roy has been named his replacement for the fourteenth edition of the Indian Premier League. He is brought in to the squad for his base price which is INR 2 Crores.



Roy went unsold in the Vivo IPL 2021 Auctions held on 18th February in Chennai. He had opted out of the Indian T20 Tournament in 2020 due to personal reasons. He was named in Delhi Capitals Squad for IPL 2020.



Sunrisers Hyderabad has now one of the deadliest opening pairs. They have got Jonny Bairstow and David Warner. New Zealand cricketer Kane Williamson too has capabilities to open while one more option Jason Roy comes in.



Skipper David Warner sustained a groin injury in India vs Australia ODI series after which he was rested for the T20I series and first two test games. Even though he rushed back in the last two test games against India, everyone could see a slight niggle in his movements.

T20 World Cup 2021: In a heavy blow to England, excellent opener Jason Roy has been ruled out of the remaining matches of the ongoing T20 World Cup 2021 owing to a calf injury. ECB has subsequently roped in James Vince as his replacement for the tournament.



Roy sustained a major blow on his calf during England?s last match against South Africa. While taking a run, Roy picked up the injury and was in extreme pain and was not even able to walk back to the dressing room, retired hurt.



"I'm gutted to be ruled out of the World Cup. It is a bitter pill to swallow,? said Jason Roy after the development.

Fortunately, things will not be the same in IPL 2022?s Mega Auction. In IPL 2022, two new franchises have been added - Lucknow and Ahmedabad and it has changed the entire dynamics of the Mega Auction. And Jason Roy performed pretty well in the 5 matches that he played last season, scoring 150 runs in 5 matches.?

His recent success rate on the Indian soil, however, must compel the franchises to rethink. Ish Sodhi has been a great asset of New Zealand especially against Indian players and any team can use that to their advantage in the Indian Premier League. Jason Roy pulled out of the Tata IPL 2022 citing bubble issues: English opener batsman Jason Roy has pulled out of the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Roy cited the challenge of staying back in the bio-secure environment for an extended period of time. The cricketer has informed his decision to his IPL franchise, Gujarat Titans (GT).



The Ahmedabad based Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise acquired the English cricketer by spending a sum of INR 2 Crores (USD 266,000), which was his base price, at the recently concluded IPL auction.



Gujarat Titans (GT) is yet to finalise the replacement for the player.



Jason Roy was in a sensational form of late. He had a good outing in the recently held Pakistan Super League, where he emerged as the top run-getter for his side despite playing only a few matches.



Roy plundered 303 runs in just six matches for his franchise, Quetta Gladiators. The cricketer was also amongst the highest run-getter in the tournament with an impressive strike rate of 170. He has smacked a century and two half-centuries in his brief stay in the PSL 2022.

It must be noted that this is the second instance of Jason Roy pulling out of the Indian Premier League (IPL) after getting a contract from the franchise. Earlier, in IPL 2020, Roy was purchased by Delhi Capitals for INR 1.5 Crores, however, the cricketer pulled out of the league.



Gujarat Titans (GT), one of the two new IPL teams, is likely to announce the replacement for Jason Roy in the next few weeks.



The fifteenth season of the IPL is scheduled to kickstart on 26th March and the tournament will run until May 29. As many as 74 matches will be held in between. Maharashtra is chosen as a lone state to host all the IPL matches, while for the playoffs, the top four teams are likely to head to Ahmedabad.

Afghanistan?s Rahmanullah Gurbaz set to replace Jason Roy in Gujarat Titans for IPL 2022: One of the two new Indian Premier League (IPL) franchises, Gujarat Titans (GT) will in all its likelihood be naming Afghanistan?s opener batsman Rahmanullah Gurbaz as the replacement for English opener Jason Roy for the upcoming Tata IPL 2022.



It?s noteworthy that Jason Roy pulled out of the fifteenth edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) citing bubble fatigue and family reasons. GT acquired the services of the English opener by spending INR 2 Crores during the Tata IPL 2022 Mega Auction.



Gurbaz who is an explosive T20 opener wicket-keeper batter, possess a healthy strike rate of 150 plus in the shortest format. He is also a wicketkeeper which makes him a multi-utility player.



Moreover, it has been learnt that Rahmanullah Gurbaz is not a like-for-like replacement for the English hard-hitter, however, the Gujarat Titans (GT) is worried about the ongoing issue with Wriddhiman Saha.



GT has kept Wriddhiman Saha as a first choice wicketkeeper batter in the side, however, the team doesn?t have another viable backup for the veteran glovesman owing to which they opted for Roy?s replacement in Rahmanullah Gurbaz.

The franchise has the likes of experienced Matthew Wade, who can keep the wickets, however, he won?t be available to play in the TATA IPL 2022 until March 6 due to Cricket Australia?s policies. All the Australian cricketers will be cleared to feature in the IPL from the second week.



Gujarat Titans is yet to announce the replacement with its formal statement, however, sources who have their ear close to the team have confirmed the report.



The franchise is awaiting the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) clearance for the 20-years old wicketkeeper batter Rahmanullah Gurbaz.



The Afghan cricketer has featured in various T20 leagues across the world including the Pakistan Super League (PSL), Lanka Premier League (LPL) and the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL).



Meanwhile, according to the released schedule for the IPL 2022, Gujarat Titans (GT) is all set to clash with Lucknow SuperGiants (LSG) on March 28. The fixture will be held in iconic Wankhede Stadium, beginning at 7:30 PM (India Time).

Jason Roy slapped 2-Match ban, $3,300 fine for misconduct from ECB: The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) on Tuesday handed a two-match international ban to opener batter Jason Roy along with a monetary fine of GBP 2,500 for bringing sports into disrepute.



While the ECB didn?t disclose the extent or the details of the breach committed by Jason Roy, it confirmed that the cricketer has accepted the sanctions imposed by the cricket board.



"Roy has admitted a charge of conducting himself in a manner which may be prejudicial to the interests of cricket or which may bring the game of cricket, the ECB and himself into disrepute, in breach of ECB Directive 3.3."



ECB further in a statement said that his ban is for the ?next two England matches for which he is eligible for selection? but is suspended for 12 months, which will depend on good behaviour.



Along with the suspension and ban, Roy was slapped with a fine of 2,500 pounds (approx. USD 3,310), which he needs to pay by March 31 2022.

"Following a full disciplinary hearing at which all available evidence was heard, the Disciplinary Panel ruled that Mr. Roy should: (i) be suspended from the next two England matches for which he is eligible for selection, but that such suspension be suspended for 12 months dependent on good behaviour; and (ii) pay a fine of GBP 2,500 by March 31 2022," said the statement.



The England batter last featured for England in a T20I series against West Indies held in January. The cricketer then played in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) for Quetta Gladiators.



Surprisingly, Roy backed out of his IPL contract and made himself unavailable for the IPL 2022 citing bubble fatigue and announced to take a ?short indefinite break from cricket?. He was purchased by Gujarat Titans (GT) for INR 2 crore base price.
