India vs England Test Series: Former England cricketer and renowned commentator, Kevin Peterson fires a friendly challenge to the Indians for the India-England series. Peterson also praised India for the historic win at Gaba.



On Tuesday, the injury-plagued Team India thrashed Australia in their home with the 2-1 test series lead. The whole cricketing world erupts soon after the match ended and praise started to shower on the winning side. India not only won the series but also defeated Australia at ?Fortress Gaba? after a long 32 years.



While the next challenge for India is with England. Both the sides will begin the action on February 5 with the first of four games test series. The first two games will be played in Chennai while the last two games will be hosted by newly build Motera Stadium, Ahmedabad.



In the meantime, Indian were celebrating their famed victory, Peterson left a Tweet challenging India to face the England team.



Peterson said, India?s win against Australia is historic but the real challenge will for them will be facing England team.

India vs England: Johnny Bairstow?s omission from the England squad for the first two tests against England raised questions over ECB. Former England skipper Kevin Peterson says it will be a huge disrespect to India and BCCI if England doesn?t field its best possible XI in the upcoming India tour.



Along with batsman Jhonny Bairstow, all-rounder Sam Curran and Mark Wood are also not included in the squad by ECB.



Bairstow has been rested for the first two test games which come under the policy of England and Whales Cricket Board (ECB) player management policy. According to the policy acquired by ECB, the player will be given adequate rest and recovery time in a year, which includes 17 Tests and the ICC T20 World Cup.



The former skipper said that India series is not less than the Ashes series and it is even more important now. India has defeated Australia in their home and defeating India in India will be a challenge.



Winning a test game against India will be similar to the victory against Aussie and the selectors should play both James Anderson and Stuart Broad.

Another tweet from the former cricketer said that no player would want to rest in the series. Everyone wants to play against in-form India in India. Peterson suggested that the players can be granted rest after the cash-rich league, IPL.

India vs England: Rishabh Pant will be all-time great says, Sourav Ganguly.



India vs England: All the former players from the cricket fraternity erupted as Rishabh Pant scored a scintillating hundred on Day 2 of the fourth test match. Pant amassed 101 runs in 118 deliveries to put India back to the driving seat after a series of breakthroughs in the first two sessions. His 101 runs knock included 13 boundaries and 2 towering sixes.



Pant came to bat when India were well behind over 100 runs after the wicket of vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane. Rishabh Pant at the beginning batted sensibly to set on the crease along with Rohit Sharma.



After the wickets of Rohit Sharma and Ravichandran Ashwin, Pant stitched a strong partnership with Washington Sundar of 113 runs for the seventh wicket.



The wicketkeeper-batsman started to accelerate once India levelled the scored. At the end of Day 02, India are 89 runs ahead of visitors with 3 wickets in hand.



Pant?s innings kept everyone speechless and even former Indian skipper and current president of Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Sourav Ganguly hailed his performance through a Tweet.

ICC WTC Final: England?s former skipper Kevin Peterson on Monday stated that the ?extremely important ICC games should not be held in the UK? following all the interruptions caused by consistent showers in the ICC World Test Championship final between India and New Zealand.



The day one and day four of the all important summit clash between India and New Zealand got washed away due to rain and it seems like the trophy will be shared by both teams as the game might end without fetching a particular winner.



"It pains me to say it, but a ONE-OFF &amp; incredibly important cricket game should NOT be played in the UK," wrote Peterson in his tweet.

On day 3 of the test, New Zealand pacer Kyle Jamieson rattled through the Indian batting lineup and scalped a fifer in the World Test Championship final. He picked up the wicket of Rohit Sharma (34 runs), Virat Kohli (44 runs), Rishabh Pant (4 runs), Ishant Sharma (4 runs) and Jasprit Bumrah (0 runs) to claim his fifth fifer in eight test matches.



On top of that, New Zealand openers Devon Conway and Tom Latham built a solid opening stand to put black caps in the driving seat.&nbsp;



Conway, continuing his sensational form, smacked a half century and Latham scored 30 runs.



For India, Ravichandran Ashwin provided the initial breakthrough in a non-conductive surface. He picked up Tom Latham while Ishant Sharma picked the wicket of dangerous-looking Devon Conway.

Vivo IPL 2021: Former Englishmen Kevin Peterson has shown his belief in Mumbai Indians (MI) squad, which according to Peterson is most likely to take up the fourth vacant spot in the playoffs this season. Despite undergoing a slow start, MI made a turnaround with their first win against Punjab Kings (PBKS) recently where?Hardik Pandya, Jasprit Bumrah and Kieron Pollard alarmed their arrival back into the form.



In his recent blog in betway, he fancied besides Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Delhi Capitals (DC) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), Mumbai Indians (MI) will be the fourth team to get their berth reserved for the final four of the Vivo IPL 2021.



"The IPL is heating up really nicely now, with the race for that fourth play-off spot well and truly on. Chennai Super Kings, Royal Challengers Bangalore, and Delhi Capitals will qualify, but there are four other teams vying to join them in the play-offs. I wrote before the resumption of the IPL that Mumbai Indians need to avoid their typical slow start if they are to retain the title this year."

Heaping praise on Kieron Pollard?s performance, Peterson said:



"He took a crucial wicket in his one over, just when it was asked of him, and he smashed 15 off seven to take his side home. Things are just starting to turn for them, and if they get themselves into the knock-out stages then anything is possible."



The five times champion side is placed fifth in the points table with 10 points from 11 matches. Rohit Sharma and Co. will play out their next match against Delhi Capitals (DC) in Sharjah.

Vivo IPL 2021: Former English cricketer Kevin Peterson came to rescue his fellow Englishmen Eoin Morgan after a fan on social media asked him about his views amid the poor form of the KKR skipper. Peterson defending Morgan replied, "People need to cut athletes some slack."

The KKR skipper hasn?t had his best time in the fourteenth season of the IPL. The southpaw has managed to score a little above 100 from 12 innings of the Vivo IPL 2021. If his last four innings of the UAE leg are counted, Morgan has succeeded in totalling a meagre 17 runs.



Despite having a poor outing, Morgan has effectively managed to take his team over the lines on most of the occasions in the UAE leg. Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) has thrashed the likes of Mumbai Indians, Delhi Capitals and Royal Challengers Bangalore in phase two.



The amazing comeback in the second leg of the IPL 2021 has lifted KKR to the top four. The turnaround fightback in the UAE by KKR has also increased its chances of playoffs.



The two times title winners are placed fourth in the points table after 12 matches from which KKR have stamped their authority in five. The team has a much better net run rate than its competitors which puts them in the driver?s seat to take up fourth place in the playoff.

The captain is the one who takes major decisions and can initiate a comeback from the worst of situations with a strong mentality. He/she is the one who fills the other players in the team with new and fresh vigour after a tough defeat, tones up the worst player and turns him into the best.?



The so-called "Leadership Qualities" though sounds simple isn't as easy to demonstrate. The first person to make the list of "Worst IPL captains in history" is a certain David Miller. The left-handed big hitter from South Africa had been in red hot form since he became a part of the King's XI Punjab.&nbsp;



Seeing his wonderful individual performances, the team management decided to provide him with the captaincy responsibilities for the entire season ahead of the 2016 IPL. Miller was expected to add the captaincy skills to his individual blitz and thereby take Punjab to new heights in the upcoming seasons.&nbsp;



What happened however was a total contrast to the above. The Kings could manage just one win out of their first 6 games under Miller's captaincy. The major reason that might have caused such downfall must be the overall pressure that might have been created upon Miller due to the extra responsibilities provided to him.&nbsp;



His captaincy duties saw him lose his vintage batting style that was full of freedom and free-flowing strokes. He seemed to be trapped every time he came upon the field. The management lost all their trust which they had rested upon him earlier and replaced him with Murali Vijay.

Ricky Ponting's making the list of "Worst IPL captains" must indeed be a shock to every cricket fan on the globe and rightly so. The man under whom Australia won two 50 overworld cups, and won innumerable matches against the toughest of opponents deserves to be called "THE BEST"! It was under his reign as a captain that Australia became literally "Unbeatable".&nbsp;



The credit for their sheer dominance in world cricket for such a long period of time must go to a certain Ponting. When Ricky Ponting was handed the captaincy responsibilities of Mumbai Indians in 2013, the management expected him to perform his captaincy duties equally well for the franchise as well. However, what followed was a total mess.&nbsp;



Mumbai didn't have a properly good start to the season as they lost 3 of the first 6 games that they played and Ponting gave up on his captaincy. The fact that he asked the management to relieve him of the role proves the fact that the entrustment of the extra responsibilities on an ageing Ponting wasn't really a good idea.&nbsp;



The major reason behind such an unfortunate event of the downfall was sure because of the increasing age of the Australian which had pretty clearly marked the beginning of downfall in his career. He also couldn't deliver his responsibilities for Australia during that period beginning from 2011. The burden of captaincy at the age of 39 made him look even more finished as a player. The baton was then passed on to a young Rohit Sharma who then went on to win 5 titles for Mumbai.

Another surprising name in the list is that of Kumar Sangakkara. The Sri Lankan legend who had for the first time been given the captaincy duties back in 2010 went on to lead three different teams in his IPL career. The first team that Sangha got to lead was King's XI Punjab in the IPL 2010. The season however didn't go as planned as Sangakkara in his debut season as a captain could win just 3 of the 13 matches he lead his team in and was thus dropped midway of the season.&nbsp;



Next season he took up the leadership responsibilities of his new team, Deccan Chargers, a side that won the IPL in 2009. The results, however, showed no signs of improvement as Sangakkara failed to make any sort of impact in the two-season he lead the chargers for. The team failed to make the playoffs in two consecutive seasons under Sangha. After the Chargers were bought by the sun TV network in 2012, the franchise changed its name to Sunrisers Hyderabad.&nbsp;



That however didn't bring any change to Sangakkara's captaincy results as he managed to win less than 50% of the matches he lead his side in before the team management took back the captaincy from him. Thus his captaincy reign in IPL remains to be one that he along with his fans would like to forget.

Pietersen who had the chance to captain his side for the first time in 2009 while playing for RCB couldn't make the most of the opportunity as he managed just 2 wins out of the 6 games he lead his side in.&nbsp;



The next captaincy opportunity came in IPL 2014 for the Delhi Daredevils who had newly included him in their squad prior to that season. The decision however was proved to be totally wrong later on as Pietersen had to suffer 9 defeats out of the 11 games that he lead his side in during that season. This marked the end of his captaincy reign in IPL.&nbsp;



Though he went on to win trophies in the upcoming years in the BBL, his captaincy stats in IPL are nowhere close to the calibre of a player of his kind.

Another Sri Lankan player who takes his place on the list is Mahela Jayawardene. The Sri Lankan's Reign as a captain is distributed into small bits and pieces throughout various seasons for various different teams that he played for.&nbsp;



His first captaincy duties came up in the IPL 2011 when he lead the newly added side to the league, Kochi Kerala Tuskers but the results still didn't turn out to be impressive as he managed to win just 6 of the 13 matches he captained with the tuskers that season. He then captained Delhi Daredevils in 2012 and 2013.&nbsp;



He didn't have much success during his time as a captain at Delhi either as he could win only 1/3 of the matches he lead his team in. His side also couldn't make it to the playoffs in the seasons under his captaincy and thus he was shown his way out of the side. Thus the captaincy responsibilities only added to his troubles as his abilities on the pitch seemed to be pulled down both collectively and individually.&nbsp;



His reign as a captain ended with his failure in Delhi Daredevils as he failed to deliver in his last season as a result of which his side finished at the bottom of the table.

Virat Kohli should take a break from cricket and come back stronger, say experts: Former Indian cricketers and experts reckon Virat Kohli should take a short break from cricket and come back stronger following his slump form in the Tata Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022. Virat registered his second consecutive duck of the Tata IPL 2022 in the game against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), last night.



Mohammad Azharuddin, the former Indian skipper, feels Virat Kohli has played a lot of cricket and needs a break for a couple of matches to come back fresh and with a free mind.&nbsp;



?Basically, I feel he has played too much cricket. I know a lot of people are saying that he has had much rest between the international matches. But if you play in IPL, day-in, and day-after, so I think his footwork has become quite lazy. Maybe as a player or person watching him play, I feel he should take a break for 2-3 matches and rejuvenate himself,? said Mohammad Azharuddin.



Kohli has just managed to score 119 runs from eight Tata IPL 2022 innings at a concerning average of 17.00. The legendary batter has already recorded two golden ducks in the tournament.



Earlier, former Indian coach Ravi Shastri said that Virat is overcooked and no one deserves a break from cricket more than him.

Kevin Peterson, the former England cricketer, went on to say Virat needs to take fresh air for the next sixth months and come back with a clear head.



?Virat Kohli needs to say, ?cricket boots, I?ll see you later,? for the next six months. Turn off social media and go get some fresh air,? said Kevin Peterson.



The former Indian skipper has recently completed his 100 matches without touching a three-figure mark in cricket. The 33 years old cricketer slammed his last century in the Eden Gardens back in November 2019, but since then he has failed miserably to reach a ton.

Ravi Shastri disappointed with India?s performance on day 4, says, ?They just went into a shell?: Former Indian head coach Ravi Shastri has expressed his disappointment over team India?s performance in the second innings of the rescheduled fifth test match against England. Shastri reckons India were too defensive on day four and couldn?t score the runs they needed to bat England out of the contest.



After getting a healthy lead in the first innings, India lost its batting track in the second innings. Barring Rishabh Pant and Cheteshwar Pujara, all other batters looked pale and bowed down against the opposition.



The lacklustre performance on day four from the Indians turned the match upside down as England took advantage of the situation. Team India posted a total of 378 runs with a day and two sessions? game left to play.



Though 378 looks a defendable total, England?s aggressive approach, which they famously call ?Bazball?, made it a scanty total and chased it down without any discomfort. After a solid opening partnership from Alex Lees and Zak Crawley, Joe Root and Jonny Bairstow stitched a match-winning partnership to win the fifth test match and level the test series.



?I think (it was) disappointing, to say the least, because they could have batted England out of this contest. They needed to bat two sessions and I thought they were defensive, they were timid today, especially after lunch. Even after they had lost those wickets, they could have taken some chances. Runs were important at that stage of the game and I thought they just went into a shell, lost those wickets too quickly, and gave enough time for England to bat today,? Ravi Shastri said while commentating for Sky Sports.

Former England Captain, Kevin Peterson doesn?t seem pleased with the captaincy of Jasprit Bumrah. He opines that Jasprit Bumrah, who was making his debut as the captain, got all his tactics right against England.



?I don?t think Bumrah got his tactics right at all, and I say that with the greatest deal of respect. There is no way with a reverse swinging ball that he should make it that easy for the batter, because the batter is trying so hard to decipher which way that ball is swinging. When it?s reverse swinging at 90mph, the nicest place to bat is at the non-strikers? end, and the ability to get to the non-strikers? end as easily as they did this afternoon, it?s too easy,? opined Pietersen, who is also a part of the commentary panel.



With the victory, England levelled the five matches test series (Pataudi Trophy) by 2-2.
