The ODI format has drawn attention over the years, as many great players have left their mark on the format ever since their debut. The tri-series has returned with New Zealand, Pakistan, and<a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/South_Africa_national_cricket_team"> South Africa</a>, as several new players are adorning the format before making an impact for the ICC Champions Trophy. 
<a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Matthew_Breetzke">Matthew Breetzke</a>, who made his debut for South Africa in the ODI format, smashed a scintillating century to give South Africa a respected total after the loss of wickets early on. Opening the innings, the young lad seemed unstoppable as he became the first-ever batter in the history of the game to have scored a 150 on his <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/One_Day_International">ODI</a> debut. 
Breetzke not only manhandled the Kiwi bowlers or gave his team some reason to celebrate, but he also attained individual glory as he broke West Indies great <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Desmond_Haynes">Desmond Haynes</a>'s record score of 148 runs on debut. The record has been broken after 47 years since the batter held the record ever since his debut in 1978.

The 26-year-old Protea batter opened the South African innings in the ongoing Tri-series in Pakistan. He has previously played in a test and 10 T20Is for South Africa. Slamming 150 runs off 148 balls, his century not only came in his debut but also broke a long-standing record. 
<h3 dir="ltr">2. Desmond Haynes</h3>
Former West Indies veteran opener Desmond Haynes made his debut in the ODI format back in 1978 against Australia, as he almost single-handedly took his team over the board with a stunning total. His 148 off 136 balls came in those days, which remained a 47-year-long record as the highest score by any batter on debut.

Afghanistan youngster and promising batter Rahmanullah Gurbaz made his debut for the side back in 2021 against Ireland. The right-handed batter, who now already has the most hundreds scored by any Afghan batter in the history of the game, began his career with a decent run-a-ball hundred against the Irish in 2021. His debut inning was 127 runs off the same number of balls.
<h3 dir="ltr">4. Mark Chapman</h3>
Kiwi batter Mark Chapman also started his career with a knock to remember for generations to come when the batter scored a sensational hundred on debut for New Zealand against Hong Kong, making his debut in the ICC World Cricket League Championship in 2015. His unbeaten score of 124* still remains the highest unbeaten score on debut by any batter in the format. 
<h3 dir="ltr">5. Colin Ingram </h3>
The last man on our list trails back to the Cape of Good Hope, as Colin Ingram, once an all-format batter for the Proteas, stunned all with his debut against African opponents Zimbabwe. Batting at no.3, he scored for South Africa on debut and slammed an impressive 124, and like all other players, he was also awarded the man of the match in the particular game.

The second match of the three-match ODI series between India and England was played on 9 February (Sunday) at Barabaati Stadium of Cuttack and in this game, the Indian Team secured an easy win by a margin of four wickets and took an unassailable lead of 2-0. Skipper Rohit Sharma played a fiery knock of 119 runs in 90 deliveries, which consisted of 12 fours and seven sixes. 
<h2>KL Rahul's below par performance with the bat continues</h2>
The return of Rohit Sharma to his explosive form was a good news for the Indian fans but wicketkeeper batter KL Rahul delivered yet another disappointing performance with the bat in this match as well. He returned to dugout after scoring just 10 runs and even in the previous match of the series, the 31-year-old managed to score just two runs. 
In both games, the former LSG skipper had a chance to apply the finishing touches but, he returned to the pavilion and failed to help the Men in Blue get over the line. 
Even in last year's Sri Lanka tour, Rahul wasn't able to do anything special with the bat, managing to score just 31 runs in two innings. Rishabh Pant replaced him in the side in the 3rd ODI. If we take a close look at his stats, then we get to know that Rahul has amassed just 43 runs in the last four One-Day International games at a miserable average of 10.75, which goes on to reflect his struggles in the format. 
Rahul's glove work was also poor in the Cuttack ODI as his mistake led to Joe Root getting a lifeline. On his advice, skipper Rohit Sharma decided not to take the DRS review versus Root but the replays later showed that the ball was hitting the stumps.
After watching the replays, skipper Rohit regretted the decision of not taking the DRS and was very pissed off with KL Rahul. A wicketkeeper's advice is very important in taking a call of DRS reviews for LBW. 
<h2>Will Pant get a chance to play in the 3rd ODI? </h2>
The question which arises here is, will the Indian team management carry on with KL Rahul as the main wicketkeeper in the 3rd &amp; Final ODI of the series in Ahmedabad? Wicketkeeper batsman Rishabh Pant is a part of the squad as well and the 27-year-old is a better wicketkeeper than KL Rahul and also has a lot of experience of keeping the wickets on bouncy &amp; spinning tracks. 
The newly appointed LSG skipper has participated in 31 One-Day International matches for the Men in Blue, where he has managed to score 871 runs at a decent average of 33.50. He has also slammed five fifties and a century in the format. 
KL Rahul, on the other hand, has amassed 2,863 runs in 79 ODI games at an average of 47.71 with the help of seven hundreds and 18 fifties. While the statistics of the latter are better than the former, constant failures of the latter with the bat is increasing the tension of the Indian team management ahead of Champions Trophy 2025.The team management would definitely want to give an attacking batsman like Pant a chance to prove himself before the commencement of the Champions Trophy.

This is also the first time in her career that Mooney has won the player of the month award and the second consecutive monthly award for an Aussie star after in-form all-round Annabel Sutherland won the award in December of 2024.

After the Kangaroos lost four wickets for a mere score or 59 runs, the 31-year-old played an incredible knock of 50 runs in 64 deliveries to give the Heather Knight-led team a tough fight and set the stage for the hosts to post a score of 308 runs in 50 overs and secure the victory in the contest. 
In the T20 International series, Mooney carried on with her good form, scoring 213 runs at an amazing strike rate or 146.89 and cemented her position as the top-ranked batter. She scored 75 runs in 44 balls before going on to smash an unbeaten 94 runs off 63 deliveries in Adelaide, her highest score in the shortest format of the game in five years, to guide the Kangaroos to a dominant series victory versus their Fierce-Rivals.
She also won the Player-of-the-Match accolade for her incredible performances in both the first &amp; the last T20 International games of the series and she also ended the series as the highest run getter.

His achievements also include the 2022-23 Vijay Hazare Trophy season. In 86 List A matches scored a total of 2792 runs, including nine centuries and 14 fifties. In T20s, Sheldon Jackson scored 1812 runs from 84 matches, including one century and eleven half-centuries.
When Jackson announced his retirement, he also said, "I still want to keep going in first-class cricket, at least for these two games, and then take it from there. I really don't know for how long. Jomel Warrican, the slow left-arm orthodox spinner of the West Indies has been crowned ICC Men's Player of the Month for January of 2025, thanks to his brilliant performance with the ball in the two-match Test Series versus Pakistan. 
The ICC Player of the Month award recognizes the outstanding individual displays and performances of the players at the highest level of Cricket and the nominees selected for the month of January were all spin bowlers who excelled across various formats of the game. 
Warrican faced tough competition from India's mystery leg spinner Varun Chakaravarthy and Noman Ali of Pakistan. The West Indian spinner delivered the best performance of his career with the ball versus the Shaheens and helped his team draw the two-match series. 
In the first Test-Match, the 32-year-old ended the match with figures of 10-101 to his name which also turned out to be the best bowling figures of his career in the longest format of the game and with the bat, he played an unbeaten knock of 31* runs. 
In the second match of the series, he carried forward his good momentum of the first contest into the second one and delivered yet another amazing performance, as he dismissed four Pakistani batters in the first inning and followed it up with a fifer in the second inning, ending the match with figures of 9-70.
In addition to his terrific performance with the ball, the 32-year-old also contributed 54 runs with the bat as the Windies marched their way to victory in the second encounter, thereby ensuring the series ended in a draw.  
Overall, Warrican scored a total of 85 runs at a good average of 42.50 and also claimed 19 scalps at an exceptional average of nine, earning him the Man-of-the-Series award.
