IPL 2023: The cricket carnival is all set to begin from 31st March. The 16th edition of the<a href="https://www.iplt20.com/auction" data-type="URL" data-id="https://www.iplt20.com/auction"> Indian Premier League</a> (IPL) 2023 will see the Gujarat Titans and Chennai Super Kings clashing with each other in the curtain-raiser at the Narendra Modi International Stadium on Friday (31st March). Even before the league started, teams have suffered injury scares, which potentially might have hampered their chances and forced them to go back to the drawing board and discuss the permutations and combinations once again. IPL 2023: Every team apart from Gujarat Titans have injuries in their camp. While some players have suffered serious injuries, a few have been advised to rest in a few games. The injuries in the franchise have hampered their chances already as their main players are set to be out of action. The major injuries have given headaches to the franchises and have forced them to call for replacements.&nbsp;



For Chennai Super Kings Kyle Jamieson was the broken nail in the coffin as he suffered a back injury and was ruled out of the tournament. He was brought by the team for INR 1 crores but he?s set to undergo surgery, which puts his availability for the tournament in jeopardy. In his place, CSK roped in Sisanda Magala for INR 50 lakhs.&nbsp;



Royal Challengers Bangalore camp was too affected by the injuries. English all-rounder Will Jacks, whom they signed for INR 3.2 crores in IPL 2023 auction, suffered a muscle injury while fielding during the recently concluded ODI series between England and Bangladesh. His injury seemed much worse than expected as he was ruled out of the tournament. The franchise acquired New Zealand all-rounder Michael Bracewell in his place.&nbsp;

Punjab Kings? Jonny Bairstow was also ruled out of the tournament due to the prolonged leg injury he suffered in September 2022. In his place the Shikhar Dhawan-led side named uncapped Australian Matthew Short as his replacement.&nbsp;



Rajasthan Royals are also among the franchises, that have injury concerns. Their pacer Prasidh Krishna, whom they brought for INR 10 crores in IPL 2022 auction, was also ruled out of the tournament following surgery for a lumbar stress fracture in his spine. In his place, the team roped in veteran Indian pacer Sandeep Sharma, who went unsold in IPL 2023 auction.&nbsp;

Cricket Australia have added two superstar batters Jake Fraser-McGurk and Matt Short to their T20 World Cup 2024 squad reserves. The tournament will be played in the United States of America and the Caribbean from 1st June to 30th June.&nbsp;



When Australia announced the squad for the T20 World Cup 2024 was announced, a lot of eyebrows were raised as Jake Fraser-McGurk wasn?t named in the team. The batter set the stage on fire in <a href="https://www.iplt20.com" data-type="link" data-id="https://www.iplt20.com">IPL</a> and his not getting selected surprised many.?



Playing for Delhi Capitals, Jake Fraser-McGurk scored 330 runs in nine matches at an average of 36.66. However, what caught the attention of many was his strike rate of 234.04. He went after the bowlers right from the ball 1 and played brutal innings in almost every game.?

Matthew Short also has been added to the&nbsp; reserve list for the T20 World Cup 2024. He was the Player of the Tournament in the 2022-23 edition of the BBL as he scored 458 runs and also picked 11 wickets. He also has played 9 T20Is for Australia.

Australia National Cricket Team has suffered yet another injury blow amid the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. Opening batter Matthew Short suffered a thigh injury during the team's game against the Afghanistan National Cricket Team on Friday (28th February). 
Matthew Short suffered a quad injury while fielding against Afghanistan in their last league game of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. The batter then was seen struggling to move but made his way out to bat while chasing the target of 274 runs in the must-win encounter. 
Matthew Short played a brutal innings of 20 off 15 balls. But his struggles were visible as he failed to move well. However, his injury is much worse than expected as the all-rounder is all set to miss the semi-final of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, which will be played next week. 
Matthew Short missing the game will be a blow for Australia. The Steve Smith-led are already without their key players in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, and now the injury to the inform batter will leave a massive void in the XI, especially with the semi-final around the corner.

"I think he’ll be struggling. I think we saw tonight he wasn’t moving very well. I think it’s probably going to be too quick between games for him to recover. We’ve got a few guys there to come in to fill a job." 
With Matthew Short to miss the semi-final, it is expected that Jake Fraser-McGurk will be coming to the team. Australia has looked in a solid touch in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. Even without key players, they have looked like a team to beat in the tournament. 
Australia won their opening game of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 against England as they chased a target of over 350. After that, their game against South Africa got washed out before the Afghanistan match also got abandoned.

Also, Connolly has shown composure as a batter compared to McGurk, who is relatively brutish and known for his high-risk game. With Travis Head already being the high-risk player in the opening pair, Connolly might come in handy as an opener if he can support him with some firm batting at the top of the order.
