ICC WTC Final: The second edition of the World Test Championship has reached the business end. After two years of exciting Test cricket, we have got the finalists of the tournament. ICC WTC Final: India will be without the services of Jasprit Bumrah for the World Test Championship Final. Then pacer suffered a back injury and has been out of cricketing action since September 2022. He was named in India?s squad for the series against Sri Lanka early this year but he yet again felt discomfort and was again ruled out.?



His absence will leave a massive void in the Indian side as it?s fair to say that did in English conditions he has proved himself a vital cog. The other Indian pacers on the other hand have been asked by BCCI to practice with the red ball during the IPL as there will be less time to practice.&nbsp;

Mohammad Kaif pointed out the faults in the system, saying that NCA trainers, physios and VVS Laxman should take care of the situation and shouldn?t take things lightly. Speaking to Sportskeeda, he said:&nbsp;



?I have noticed faults in the system. Players have gotten picked in the squad, and then pulled out before the match citing they weren?t fully fit. This happened to Bumrah recently and even Mohammad Shami has done this a couple of times.?&nbsp;



?So the NCA trainers, physios, VVS Laxman and his team have to take care of these situations. Because it is unfair on the fans of cricket who are expecting Bumrah to play the next day. I feel this is a very serious matter and the management shouldn?t take it lightly.?&nbsp;

ICC WTC Final: Mohammad Kaif further went on to say that there shouldn?t be any grey area left and players should be tested before being declared fit. He added further.?

As a Bumrah fan, I want to know what injury he has, what is his recovery time, etc. So they should address this transparency bit and put forth the exact matter.?



Apart from Jasprit Bumrah, Shreyas Iyer has also been ruled out of the ICC WTC Final. The batter too has suffered a back injury and has been out of action since Border-Gavaskar Trophy. He will undergo surgery soon.?

It's been close to four months now and the wounds have started to heal. However, the recent revelations made by Mohammad Kaif, who was part of the broadcasting team for the World Cup 2023 have again given flashbacks of the horrific defeat.



Kaif, in his recent interview with Lallantop, disclosed that the colour of the pitch changed drastically in the lead-up to the World Cup 2023 Final between India and Australia. The former Indian batter accused the Indian captain - Rohit Sharma and coach - Rahul Dravid of doctoring the pitch by influencing the curator.



Mohammad Kaif, during the interaction, revealed that Rohit Sharma and Rahul Dravid would have a close look at the pitch, which was being prepared for the final. The two did the same thing for three days in the run-up to the marquee clash.



?I was there for three days, did a lot of shows. Rohit Sharma came in the evening with Dravid, went to the pitch, stood there for an hour and went back. They came again on the second day and did the same thing. This went on for three days, and I saw the colour of that pitch change. I wore a blue shirt today, it would look yellow three days later... that was the extent of that change,? Kaif revealed on?Guest in the Newsroom?on?TheLallanTop.



To devoid Pat Cummins and Mitchell Starc of excessive pace off the surface, a slow pitch was prepared, but things didn't turn out nicely for the Indians. 



The Indian coach and captain influenced the pitch curator to make the surface dry with very little grass on it, said Mohammad Kaif. 



"No watering, no grass. It became a very slow pitch. This is the truth. There were Cummins and Starc, they bowled quick, and the thought was to give them a slow pitch, and they did make a mistake there. People say 'curator did his job, we didn't say anything'.?Sab bakvaas hai?(It's all rubbish). You were roaming there, you are talking to him 100.??Ghaas kam karo, paani kam daalna," do line hi toh bolni hain?(Don?t use too much grass, don't water it. You just have to say two lines). And there's nothing wrong in that, you are the home team, take advantage. But we didn't use it properly," said the former India batter.

T20 World Cup 2024: In a bizarre selection move, former Team India cricketer Mohammad Kaif has voiced the Indian squad for the T20 World Cup 2024 of his liking. The cricketer-turned-commentator has sidelined the likes of Rinku Singh, Sanju Samson and Shubman Gill for the global event in the Caribbean and the USA.



It's noteworthy that most of the Indian squad for the T20 World Cup 2024 is already finalised, however, there are a few selections to be made by Ajit Agarkar-led selection committee. 



The race for the position of the wicketkeeper's role is still on with many players in the fray. The likes of Rishabh Pant, Sanju Samson, Jitesh Sharma, KL Rahul and Dinesh Karthik are all under the watch.



Moreover, the place for the spinner, besides Kuldeep Yadav, is yet to be confirmed. Yuzvendra Chahal, who is currently leading the purple cap in the <a href="https://iplt20.com">IPL</a> 2024, is in the fray for the role alongside Axar Patel and others. Then there is also a debate for the third seamer position. 



Battling out all these selection conundrums, Mohammad Kaif while speaking on Star Sports picked his final squad for team India in the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024. 



Brushing aside the probabilities of Shubman Gill and Ishan Kishan at the top order, he picked left-handed batter Yashasvi Jaiswal to open alongside skipper Rohit Sharma. The third and fourth spots were taken by Virat Kohli and Suryakumar Yadav respectively.

In a weird move, he picked all-rounder Hardik Pandya in the fifth place followed by wicketkeeper batter Rishabh Pant at six. To give a decent depth to the Indian batting unit, Kaif selected Ravindra Jadeja and Axar Patel as his all-rounder options. 



As a lead spinner, Kaif shortlisted Kuldeep Yadav, who has been in decent form in the IPL 2024. To complete the pace bowling outfit, he named India's ace pacer Jasprit Bumrah alongside Arshdeep Singh as his two selections for the T20 World Cup 2024.



"Yashasvi Jaiswal will open alongside Rohit Sharma. Then Virat Kohli at No. 3, Suryakumar Yadav at No. 4, Hardik Pandya at No. 5, and Rishabh Pant at No. 6," Kaif said on Star Sports.



"I will keep a lot of all-rounders because you need batting depth. So I will say Axar Patel at No. 7 and Ravindra Jadeja at No. 8. After that, Kuldeep Yadav, who is a skilful bowler, at No. 9. Then two fast bowlers - Jasprit Bumrah and Arshdeep Singh. That makes it your XI," Kaif explained.



Notably, there was no mention of Rinku Singh in the finisher's role in the Indian side as Mohammad Kaif picked Shivam Dube as a finisher in the side. Moreover, as a backup spinner, he overlooked the likes of Ravichandran Ashwin and named Yuzvendra Chahal, who has been bowling superbly in the IPL 2024.



"If I talk about the squad, you will take one more spinner. I feel you will have to keep Chahal. He brings the option of a leg-spinner. Ashwin went last time. He is not taking that many wickets this time (in the IPL). I believe Chahal is a very good bowler in those conditions where the ball will turn," he reasoned.



"Then I will go with Shivam Dube. He is in great form and plays spin splendidly. He drives the game very well after six overs. I will take Riyan Parag's name. He is playing exceptionally well and deserves to be in the squad. That makes it 14, plus I will take Mohammed Siraj's name. Although he is not in form, he is an experienced bowler and has a fantastic overall record," Kaif elaborated.

The wait for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 is all set to be over. The tournament will begin on 19th February, and the final will take place on 9th March. The India team, no doubt, will be one of the hot favourites to win the tournament, which will be played in a hybrid model.

The reports added that India team management is happy with the net session ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. This is because they will be playing the three-match ODI series against England, which will begin on 6th February across three venues in India. 
Apart from this, it is reported that the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 won't be having a captain photoshoot because of the different challenges along with the different arrivals of the team. This means that Rohit Sharma won't be travelling to Pakistan for this and will be staying in Dubai with the team. 
The opening ceremony of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 will be held in Lahore. There were talks of having the event in Karachi but the Pakistan Cricket Board decided to host it in Lahore.
