<p><strong>NZ vs PAK:</strong> An excellent performance from New Zealand in the 1st T20i allowed them to take the lead against Pakistan in the five-match T20i series. Fifties from Captain Kane Willianson (57 runs) and All-Rounder Daryl Mitchell (61 runs) helped the Kiwi's post a huge total of 226 runs on the board. At one point, it looked like Pakistan was on course to chase the target of 227 runs, but eventually the Men in Green fell short by 46 runs.</p>



<p>Skipper Shaheen Shah Afridi gave a great start to his team as he managed to dismiss Devon Conway for a golden duck in the first over of the game. The Black Caps scored just six runs in the first two overs of the game, but things changed when Afridi came back to bowl his second over and Finn Allen completely ripped him apart as he hit two sixes and three fours. He even hit a huge maximum in the over of Aamir Jamal before getting dismissed by debutant Abbas Afridi, which ended his brilliant cameo of 34 runs.</p>



<p>Skipper Kane Williamson got off to a slow start in the powerplay, but he kept his calm and composure, and alongside compatriot Daryl Mitchell, he stabilized things for the Black Caps in the middle overs. Mitchell dealt the most damage between the two to the Pakistani Bowlers as he scored two back maximums against Usama Mir and hit a six and a four in the third over of Aamir Jamal, and skipper Williamson didn't hold back either as he managed to score back-to-back boundaries in the same over to bring up his half century before giving away his wicket to Abbas Afridi.</p>



<p>Daryl received a good amount of support from Glenn Phillips as he played a decent cameo of 19 runs from 11 balls. Mark Chapman ensured the hosts didn't miss the finishing capabilities of Mitchell Santner with a brilliant knock of 26 runs in just 11 balls, which allowed the Kiwi's to cross the 200-run mark.</p>



<p>Skipper Shaheen Shah Afridi (3-46), Haris Rauf (2-34) and debutant Abbas Afridi (3-34) were the best bowlers for the visitors. Aamir Jamal and Usama Mir were the most expensive bowlers, as they gave away 55 runs and 51 runs in their four overs.</p>



<p>In reply to the target of 227 runs set by the hosts, openers Mohammad Rizwan and Saim Ayub stitched a partnership of 33 runs for the first wicket in the first two overs. Saim Ayub managed to score 27 runs from eight balls before getting a run out off the bowling of Adam Milne.</p>



<p>Wicketkeeper Mohammad Rizwan played a decent knock of 25 runs in 14 balls before giving away his wicket to Tim Southee in the 5th over of the second innings.</p>



<p>Babar Azam (57 runs in 35 balls) took his time to settle down in the middle, but he changed gears and brought up his 31st half century in 33 balls. But the required rate kept on increasing, and the 29-year-old, in the hopes of keeping Pakistan in the chase got dismissed by youngster Ben Sears. After the dismissal of Babar, the Men in Green couldn't do much and got all out for 180 runs in 18 overs.</p>

<p><strong>PAK vs NZ 1st T20I: </strong>Pakistan's white-ball skipper Babar Azam is on the verge of claiming another significant T20I record as his side gears up to face New Zealand in a five-match T20I series. One of Babar Azam's eyes will aim at the series win, while the other will look to close in on Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma in the ranking of players with the most runs in T20Is.</p>



<p>Babar Azam is currently ranked third in the list of players with the most runs in the T20I format. He is only behind the likes of Virat Kohli, who is at the top of the chart, and Rohit Sharma.</p>



<p>The Pakistani skipper has piled up 3698 runs in 109 matches in the Twenty-20 format since his debut in 2016. He has averaged 41.55 in the format for Pakistan and maintained a modest strike rate of 129.12. The batter has five centuries to his name in the format to go with 29 half-centuries for Pakistan.</p>



<p>Meanwhile, Virat Kohli, who is at the top of the list of most runs in T20Is, has 4037 in 117 matches. The Indian batting maestro has an average of 51.75 and a strike rate of 138.15. Kohli has struck a solitary century along with 37 half-centuries in the format.</p>



<p>Indian captain Rohit Sharma is placed just below Virat Kohli with 3974 in 143 innings in his T20I career which began 17 years ago. Rohit has an average of 31.79 and striked 139.97 throughout his career. Interestingly, the Indian stalwart has racked up five centuries in the format, besides scoring 29 fifties. </p>



<p>Babar is just 339 runs away from equalling Virat Kohli's 4037 run mark in T20Is. Notably, Virat won't play any T20I fixture until the start of the T20 World Cup 2024 in June. Contrary to this, Pakistan will play a five-game T20I series against New Zealand followed by a three and four-game T20I series against Ireland and England respectively before marching into the T20 World Cup 2024. </p>



<p>With a total of 12 T20Is in hand ahead of the World Cup in June, Babar Azam can easily surpass Virat Kohli in the list of players with the most runs in the T20I format. </p>

<p><strong>PAK vs NZ 1st T20I:</strong> The first T20I of the New Zealand tour of Pakistan 2024 saw just the toss event and two deliveries of the Match and guess what, Shaheen Shah Afridi snatched out all the limelight in those two balls he bowled. </p>



<p>Pakistan hosted the first T20I at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium in Rawalpindi, Pakistan against New Zealand on 18th April. Pakistan's regular skipper Babar Azam was handed back the leadership duties and this series was marked as the first practice set for the marque ICC event later this year.</p>



<p>The weather and Climate management already released a rain prediction report for the 18th April on the match day. 07:00 IST was the time decided for the Toss but it was raining cats and dogs in Pindi so the toss was delayed about an hour or so.  </p>

Powerplay was reduced to 2 overs and any two bowlers can bowl just two overs maximum. </p>



<p>Shaheen was handed the ball and Tim Robinson and Tim Seifert came to open the innings for the visitors. The debutant Robinson took the strike against Shaheen Shah for the first time and Shaheen Shah showed the youngster why he is so deadly in the first over of the contest.</p>



<p>Swing for Afridi in the first ball but it was down the leg. Robinson took a double on leg-by on the first ball of the match. <p>With this wicket, Shaheen Afridi has picked up 14 wickets in his first over. This is the most from any Pakistani Bowler in the first over. </p>



<p>After the first wicket, it again started to drizzle, and disappointment for everyone at Pindi who had waited and braved the rain to watch some cricket. Players were shaking hands and it was all off the 1st T20I.</p>

<p><strong>Pakistan vs New Zealand 1st T20I Live Update: </strong>In what promises to be a really entertaining and fascinating series, arch rivals Pakistan and New Zealand are locking horns against each other in a five match T20i series. The first game of this series is taking place tonight at Rawalpindi. This series is acting as a preparatory ground for both the teams ahead of the 2024 T20 World Cup.</p>



<p>Pakistan recently reappointed Babar Azam as their captain for the white ball formats and he will be seen leading the Shaheens in the upcoming 2024 T20 World Cup. Fast bowler Mohammad Amir and spin bowling all rounder Imad Wasim recently came out of retirement and have been included in the squad for the New Zealand series. This series is a home series for the 2022 T20 World Cup runners up and Babar Azam &amp; company would be looking to identify their best possible playing 11 combination against New Zealand which can help them perform well in the World Cup.</p>



<p>New Zealand on the other hand have sent a depleted and second string squad to Pakistan as their main players are busy with IPL 2024 commitments. <p>Many fans are excited to witness both the teams in action but there's some bad news vas the start of the first T20 International between Pakistan and New Zealand has been delayed due to heavy rainfall in the city of Rawalpindi.</p>

<p>Pakistan?s former T20i skipper Shaheen Shah Afridi had marked his runup and was ready to bowl the first delivery of the game but the rain is falling down so heavily that players from both the teams had to head back towards the dressing room.</p>



<p>Earlier, the visitors won the toss and skipper Bracewell opted to have a bat first.</p>



<p>The Babar Azam led team have handed three debut caps to the likes of Abrar Ahmed, Usman Khan and Irfan Khan Niazi.</p>



<p>On the other hand, Josh Clarkson is making his T20i debut for New Zealand against the Shaheens.</p>

<p>The toss got delayed due to rain, and originally the toss was scheduled to take place at 7:30 pm (IST), with the match starting at 8:00 PM, but, the Rain gods forced the groundsmen to bring on the covers.</p>



<p>It's worth noting that rain can affect the second T20 International as well as there's an 49 percent chance of rain on 20th April, the day when the second game is scheduled to take place.</p>



<p>Luckily, the rainfall percentage for the third T20i on 21st April is considerably less?at?19?percent.</p>
