<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="icc-slapped-pakistan-and-bangladesh"><strong>ICC Slapped Pakistan and Bangladesh</strong></h2>



<p>If the anguish of losing the test and the bad decisions wasn't enough, the ICC have imposed heavy duties on Pakistan and Bangladesh for breach of the ICC Code of Conduct Article 2.22. </p>



<p>Ranjan Madugalle, a member of the Emirates ICC Elite Panel of Match Referees, issued penalties after determining that Pakistan were six overs short of the required target and Bangladesh were three overs short, taking into account the allotted time allowances.</p>

<p>As a result, Pakistan have been fined 30% of their match fees and docked six points in the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) standings. Bangladesh, meanwhile, have been fined 15% of their match fees and lost three WTC points for failing to maintain the required over-rate during the first Test in Rawalpindi.</p>



<p>According to <strong>Article 2.22 of the ICC Code of Conduct</strong> for Players and Player Support Personnel, which addresses minimum over-rate offenses, players are fined 5% of their match fee for each over their team falls short of the target within the allotted time.</p>



<p>Additionally, under Article 16.11.2 of the ICC World Test Championship playing conditions, teams lose one point for every over they fall short.</p>



<p>Captains Shan Masood of Pakistan and Najmul Hossain Shanto of Bangladesh admitted to the breaches and agreed to the proposed penalties, eliminating the need for formal hearings.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="shakib-al-hasan-fined-for-level-1-offence"><strong>Shakib al Hasan Fined For Level 1 Offence</strong></h2>



<p>Shakib al Hasan has been known for losing his temper on the field and here we saw it happening again. In the first test, Shakib was bowling to Rizwan and as Shakib was just about to deliver the ball, Rizwan withdrew from his stance. Meanwhile, Shakib lost his cool and threw the ball directly towards the Wicketkeeper and Batter. </p>

<p>However, there was no harm to any player or property but throwing the ball towards the player without any runout attempt is considered as an offense of Level 1. </p>



<p>As per Article 2.9 of the ICC Code of Conduct, "<strong><em>throwing a ball (or any other item of cricket equipment such as a water bottle) at or near a Player, Player Support Personnel, Umpire, Match Referee or any other third person in an inappropriate and/or dangerous manner during an International Match.</em></strong>"</p>



<p>Shakib is handed a 10% fine of his match fees for this behavior. Thankfully no players and skippers are handed a match ban. The second test of the Bangladesh tour of Pakistan 2024 is set to commence on August 30.</p>

<p><strong>PAK vs BAN 2nd Test:</strong> Pakistan have announced their twelve-man squad a day before the second test. The board dropped a banger as they dropped Shaheen Afridi from the side and cited it as a strategic move. </p>

<p>As we discussed earlier, batting was not a concern for Pakistan in the first test. Their major concern was bowling as they lost a match from a very dominating position at the stumps of DAY 3. It was their bowling that cost them the first-ever test loss against Bangladesh.</p>

<p>Following that, Pakistan have shown signs of being confident for the second test and announced their twelve-men squad for the PAK vs BAN second test before in the pre-match conference. </p>



<p>They were playing with their best batting combination possible from the squad they have for the series but a spinner to the unit could have been game-changing for them. They have made the correction now and added two spinners to the twelve-men playing squad. </p>

<p>The skipper and management have not touched the TOP 7 of the playing 11 from the first test which was expected. Now the BIG news is that SHAHEEN SHAH Afridi has been dropped from the second test. </p>

<p>Shaheen bowled 32 overs in the first test and got two wickets leaking at a rate of just less than 3. This wasn't a poor performance but the coach Jason <a href="https://www.espncricinfo.com/cricketers/jason-gillespie-5392">Gillespie</a> cited it as a strategic move. The two spinners Abrar Ahmed and Mir Hamza have been added to the 12-membered squad. </p>

<p>He picked up four wickets within just 16 balls and he got incredible support from Mir Hamza and all of a sudden, Bangladesh were SIX WICKETS DOWN in the first 11 overs for just 26 runs on the board. The TOP six include- Zakir Hasan, Shadman Islam, Shanto, Mominul, Mushfiqur Rahim, and Shakib.</p>

<p>Litton Das and Mehidy Hasan were the two batters on the crease and this was the last batting pair of Bangladesh. Pakistan were very tidy with their lines and discipline but the two batters survived the first session. </p>



<p>Mehidy was taking on the bad balls while Litton was comfortably taking his time and setting his foot for a big innings. In an eventual turn of events, Mehidy was caught and bowled by the young sensation Khurram Shahzad at his individual 78(124). This was Khurram's fifth wicket and he marked his first-ever test fifer at home. </p>

<p>Litton Das didn't let his weapons go down but started to be cautious about playing with a lower-end batter. He smashed his century and continued good form of cricket with <a href="https://www.cricbuzz.com/profiles/13226/hasan-mahmud">Hasan Mahmud</a>. Bangladesh, who were once reduced to 6 down for 26 scored 262 runs on the back of Litton Das and Mehidy Hasan.</p>



<p>Agha Salman was the one who finally got the breakthrough and he got the big fish Litton Das at 138(228). Bangladesh were bowled out for 262 runs and Pakistan were only left with a first-innings lead of 12 runs. </p>



<p>Pakistan had 4 overs to bat in the evening and Bangladesh bowlers were eyeing for this moment. Bangladesh have successfully removed two batters of Pakistan in the last 4 overs and Pakistan are in big trouble now.</p>
