NZ vs PAK: Keeping in view the T20 World Cup 2024, the Pakistan team will go to New Zealand to play a five-match T20 series. This series will start on January 12, and the final T20 match will be played on January 21. The leadership of the New Zealand team will be on the shoulders of Kane Williamson.



Kane Williamson, the captain, and opening batsman Devon Conway have returned for the series against Pakistan. Both batsmen were rested following the Bangladesh Test series. Williamson cannot?participate in the third T20 of the series due to a knee injury. Josh Clarkson has been named as his replacement, with Mitchell Santner taking over as captain in his absence.



All five matches of the series will be played at four different venues: the first match will be played on January 12 at Eden Park Stadium in Hamilton, the second on January 14 at Seddon Park in Dunedin, and the third match on January 17 at the University Oval in Dunedin. The fourth and fifth matches of the same series will be played at Hagley Oval Stadium in Christchurch.



Head coach Gary Stead said, "The Pakistan series is important for a number of reasons, and he has put emphasis on the Pakistan series as the T20 World Cup is around the corner." The return of Matt, Devon, Ferguson, and Kane is fantastic for the team; they will be vital to the team. There are four big players and their skills and experience will strengthen our team. "There are only three T20 series left before the T20 World Cup, and all of them are crucial to our preparation."

The second week of the year and Pakistan have started preparing for the World Cup of the game's shortest format. Pakistan are scheduled to play only T20 format this year till the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 apart from the only test of their Australia tour.

Pakistan will tour New Zealand for a five-match T20I series which is set to start on 12 January. Eden Park of Auckland is set to host the opening match of the tour. The teams will then travel to Hamilton for the second T20I and interestingly Pakistan have never won a T20I match at Hamilton. 



The teams will then fly to University Oval, Dunedin for the third T20I. Pakistan lost by 183 runs in an ODI match when they last played here in 2018 and this will be their first outing in the venue in the T20 format. 



Hagley Oval, Christchurch is slated to host the final two T20Is of the tour and the last T20I of the series will be played on 21 January. As Babar Azam has stepped down from the captaincy of all formats, Shaheen Shah Afridi is announced as the new leader of the T20I side. Hence, this series will also serve as the first series to be captained by Shaheen Shah Afridi.



Both cricket boards have announced their respective squads. Where Pakistan called for two uncapped players to the squad, New Zealand looked comfortable with the reliable names.

Notably, Australia have the option to go for Sean Abbott and Jhye Richardson if Starc gets unfit for the final game. These two pacers are with the team as backup options. Despite being bowled out for just 150 in the first innings, a brilliant 161 from Jaiswal and an unbeaten century from Kohli (100*) secured a memorable victory for India.
While Indian bowling, led by Jasprit Bumrah, has delivered consistently and performed satisfactorily, the same cannot be said for the batting lineup, which continues to struggle with inconsistency.

At this point, even someone like Mitch Marsh could dismiss Kohli by consistently bowling on the fourth or fifth stump line.
This issue needs to be addressed urgently. Kohli has earned his place among the greats over the years, but now it’s time for him to show how he can adapt and overcome this persistent fifth-stump vulnerability.
