PAK vs BAN: Pakistan declare at 448-6 as Bangladeshi batters start on a cautious note: Shan Masood led Pakistan declared their innings at the score of 448-6 on the second day of the first test match against Bangladesh which is taking place at Rawalpindi?s Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on Thursday.



The hosts kicked off the proceedings of day two with a score of 158-4, with vice-captain Saud Shakeel (57 runs) and Mohammad Rizwan (24 runs) at the crease. The two batters dominated the Bangladeshi bowling unit and continued their outstanding form, scoring hundreds.



Rizwan and Shakeel brought up their third century in the longest format of the game and stitched a partnership of 240 runs for the fifth wicket.



Shakeel played a really good knock of 141 runs in 261 balls but he got dismissed off the bowling of Mehidy Hasan Miraz.

Bangladeshi bowlers breathed a sigh of relief after dismissing the Pakistani captain however much to their dismay, Rizwan continued to dominate the bowlers and went on to play an unbeaten knock of 171 runs in 239 balls. This also turned out to be the first 150+ of the 32-year-old?s career. Meanwhile, Shaheen Shah Afridi also managed to chip in with a decent inning of 29 runs in 24 deliveries.



Bangladeshi opening batters Zakir Hasan and Shadman Islam started their team?s first inning on a cautious note following the declaration executed by the Shan Masood-led team on 448-6.



The visiting team scored 27 runs without the loss of a wicket at stumps on the second day as the Pakistani seamers bowled 12 overs. Bangladesh trail by 421 runs after the end of day 2.



Earlier on the first day of the test match, after being asked to bat first by Najmul Hossain Shanto, the hosts struggled a lot against the pace bowling unit of the visitors as the trio of Abdulla Shafique (2 runs), skipper Shan Masood (6 runs) and Babar Azam (0 runs) were sent back to the pavilion inside the first 10 overs of the Pakistani inning.



After losing three important players, the home side executed a comeback as the duo of Saud Shakeel and Saim Ayub got involved in a crucial partnership of 98 runs which bailed the Shaheens out of trouble.



Opener Saim Ayub brought up his first fifty of his test career as he played a good inning of 56 runs in 98 balls which consisted of a six and four fours. The youngster eventually got dismissed by Hasan Mahmud but Shakeel and Rizwan steadied the sinking ship of the Green Shirts and took their side to a respectable total of 448 runs.



For Bangladesh, left-arm seamer Shoriful Islam and right-arm fast bowler Hasan Mahmud took two wickets each.

India head coach Gautam Gambhir talked about the future of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli in Test cricket after their poor performances in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. He said that he could mirror comments on the future of the players, and it would be their call. 
The future of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli in the Tests has become a hot topic in Indian cricket, especially after the team's loss in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. The Rohit Sharma-led side was at the receiving end of a 3-1 thrashing at the hands of the Pat Cummins-led side in the five-match series. 
One of the major reasons behind the loss of the India team was the poor form of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. Both the stalwarts of the Indian team looked torrid with the bat in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 as they bagged low scores. 
Virat Kohli started the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 on a high as he slammed a solid century. It was expected that he would go on to have a big series but that wasn't the case. After that ton, he struggled badly and could manage just around 190 runs. 
On the other hand, Rohit Sharma arguably had the worst Test series of his career. The captain scored just 31 runs in the series and even was below par with his leadership. This also saw him dropping himself for the last match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 in Sydney owing to the poor form.
With the series loss, India also were eliminated from the race to reach the final of the ICC World Test Championship. Also, with the new cycle around the corner, there are massive questions about the future of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli in the longest format of the game.

Head coach Gautam Gambhir was asked about the future of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, saying that he could not comment on the future of both players. He added that although both the players still have hunger and commitment, they have no immediate plan for the transition. Speaking to reporters, he said: 
"I can't comment on the future of any Players; It is up to them. They have the hunger and commitment - hopefully, they can do everything they can to take Indian cricket forward. Too early to talk about transition, don't know where we will be after five months." 
The next Tes series for India will be in England in June. It remains to be seen what will be the future of the Team in the Tests going forward.

Rishabh Pant currently has 72 sixes in Test cricket in just 75 innings, which says a lot about his calibre as a player in the longest format of the game. MS Dhoni, on the other hand, has hit 78 sixes in the 144 innings that he has played for the team in the longest format of the game.
Virender Sehwag sits at the top of the list in the most number of sixes for the Indian team in Tests with 90 maximums in 178 innings. Current captain Rohit Sharma is second on the charts with 88 maximums to his name from 116 innings.

However, Michael Vaughan admits that this is not easy due to political reasons between India and Pakistan, but this option can be considered. Apart from this, if the ICC gets involved in this matter, then there are chances of things working out.

I want both of them face each other in the longest format of the game, but the only problem is that they cannot face each other in their home conditions. 
Therefore, as a solution to the problem, they can play Test Cricket versus each other in Australia or England. If this happens, it will be one of the biggest moments of the game and they will surely receive support in huge numbers."
"Pakistan &amp; India playing Test-Matches versus each other is going to prove to be absolutely phenomenal for the longest format of the game. Although, I am aware about the amount of politics involved in this matter, I believe both the teams can consider playing Tests at the Adelaide Oval, Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) or the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG)," Vaughan added. 
It's worth noting that the Indian and Pakistani teams have not faced each other in the Test format for almost 18 years. The last Test series between the two teams was played in 2007-08, but since then the two teams have not faced each other in Tests.
