In the biggest development in Indian cricket, former cricketer and most admired coach Rahul Dravid is all set to hold the coaching reins of team India after Ravi Shastri's quit. The development is confirmed by the senior BCCI official on Friday night.



Continuing his association with the Men in Blue, the current head of the National Cricket Academy (NCA) will pick up the role after the end of the ICC T20 World Cup 2021 in November and will remain on duty until 2023, the Times of India reported.



Though it took immense efforts from the BCCI officials to convince the admired coach but, in the end, it was a sense of satisfaction for the board as Dravid has agreed to work closely with the senior India team. If the reports are to be believed, BCCI was unsuccessful in its initial three attempts to persuade Dravid for the role, however, the recent take by the BCCI President Saurav Ganguly and Secretary Jay Shah in the UAE on Friday, during the IPL 2021 Final between CSK and KKR, turned out to be productive.



The Indian cricket board will pay a massive sum of INR 10 Crores to Rahul Dravid for his services to team India. Dravid went past Ravi Shastri and is the highest-paid cricket coach in the world.

It is also learnt that along with Rahul Dravid, Paras Mhambrey&nbsp;will join the Indian coaching management as the bowling coach. Mhambrey and Dravid led the India U-19 team to the final of the 2020 World Cup and the duo also travelled with the second-string Indian contingent to Sri Lanka a few months ago.



Team India's current batting coach Vikram Rathore will keep his role even after Ravi Shastri's quit and will work along with Rahul Dravid and Paras Mhambrey. 



With three World Cup's lined up in three years, the BCCI doesn't want team India to go in an uncomfortable position. Dravid is someone who has worked closely with team India in the past and has good synergy with almost every Indian cricketer. With the motive of not disturbing the team's environment by a huge margin, BCCI constantly tried to push Rahul Dravid to take up the role.



The Men in Blue will feature in three ICC World Cups under Rahul Dravid, the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia, the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 and the ICC World Test Championship in 2023.

Decorated former Indian cricketer Rahul Dravid has reportedly applied for the post of team India?s head coach following the advertisement from the BCCI. Dravid is all but certain to take up the charge after Ravi Shastri?s quit.



Dravid, who is currently heading the National Cricket Academy (NCA), had close discussions with the BCCI president Sourav Ganguly and BCCI Secretary Jay Shah in the past and has purportedly agreed to take up command of the senior Indian team after the T20 World Cup 2021.



With, 40-years old, Rahul Dravid entering the race to become India?s next head coach after Ravi Shastri, the competition has almost diluted and the job for Cricket Advisory Committee has turned out to be a mere formality.



Moreover, Dravid, apart from being the fan-favourite, has won the confidence of Sourav Ganguly and several other BCCI officials with his work at NCA and at the India U-19 level.



?Yes, Rahul has formally applied today as it?s the last day of the deadline. His team at the NCA, bowling coach Paras (Mhambrey) and fielding coach Abhay (Sharma) have already applied. His application was just a formality,? a senior BCCI official told PTI on Tuesday.

Team India will remain under Dravid?s eye until 2023. The new Indian T20I skipper will also be appointed along with the appointment of the head coach. In all likelihood, Rohit Sharma will be given the responsibility to lead the T20I team.



<h2>VVS Laxman to be next NCA head:</h2>



It is also learnt that VVS Laxman is expected to apply for the vacant post of NCA head post Dravid?s inclusion in team India.



Laxman, who is currently the mentor of IPL franchise Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), will have to leave all his other commitments including media deals, commentary and writing columns if he gets selected to be the chief of NCA.



While Laxman is deemed to be the perfect choice to replace Rahul Dravid at NCA, BCCI could also approach former Indian skipper Anil Kumble.?

The next big destination for cricket fans is the upcoming mega event. It is the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, which is all set to take place in Pakistan and the UAE. We are just five weeks away from the ninth edition, as the tournament will kick off on January 19 in Karachi.
The top 8 teams will be taking part in the tournament and will be divided into two groups of four teams each. But with a little over one month left in the start of the mega event, the drama continues to take new episodes.
Firstly, it was the tensions between the Indian Board and the Pakistan Cricket Board that forced the ICC to go for a hybrid model where India will play all their matches in Dubai after the Indian Board refused to send their team to Pakistan, citing security concerns.

As a result, the ICC added the UAE as the venue for Indian matches in Dubai, which will be a neutral venue. But it looks like the clouds of uncertainty have loomed once again over the hosting rights of the events. As per the latest media reports, it has been learned that the construction work at the three shortlisted venues in Pakistan is nowhere near done. There are 35 left in the start of the tournament, and the renovation work, which began in August last year, has not been completed.
The deadline to complete the renovation work was December 31, which has passed. According to the Times of India, the stadiums are still far away from the completion of the work. As per the TOI's source, some parts of the stadium are still under construction, and the finishing work will take a bit longer. The work to be done related to fencing and placing of floodlights and some other detailing work is still pending.
The three venues to host matches are National Bank Stadium in Karachi, Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, and Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. This came to notice when the PCB decided to shift the coming ODI tri-series in Pakistan, involving New Zealand and South Africa, from Multan to Lahore and Karachi.
However, the PCB has declined all such rumours and said that the work will be done as planned. Notably, the ICC will schedule an inspection, and a team will be sent to check the arrangements of all three venues. PCB will hand over all three venues to ICC on February 12. But if the shortlisted stadiums don't meet the expectations by then, the ICC can shift the entire ICC Champions Trophy 2025 to the UAE.

KL Rahul was recently dropped from the Indian ODI XI during the series against Sri Lanka. As per the reports, it is learned that Rishabh Pant will be the first-choice keeper-batter in the team, while Sanju Samson might get the nod as the second keeper in the team.
