The Defending Champions started the new season with a victory and Ruturaj Gaikwad won his first match as a captain of Chennai Super Kings. Royal Challengers Bangalore won the toss and they decided to bat first however this decision came in the favour of starting four overs. Skipper Faf du Plessis played aggressively and scored 35 runs in 23 balls but after his wicket, Chennai Super Kings changed the game?s momentum in their favour. RCB lost three wickets in the first powerplay of the first inning.



However, Virat Kohli and Cameron Green made a small partnership of 35 runs for the fourth wicket but this didn't last long and Kohli got out by scoring just 21 runs in 20 balls. But, later on, Dinesh Karthik and Anuj Rawat made a crucial partnership of 95 runs. The Youngster Anuj Rawat scored 48 runs in 25 balls with 3 sixes and 4 fours.



Dinesh Karthik scored 38 runs in 26 balls with 2 sixes and 3 fours and led RCB to a decent total of 173 runs in 20 overs. From the Chennai Super Kings bowling department, Mustafizur Rahman took four wickets in his four overs, whereas Deepak Chahar took one wicket.



In the second inning, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) had a good start as they made 62 runs with the loss of one wicket. Rachin Ravindra played an aggressive inning of 37 runs in 15 balls however, CSK batters didn?t lose the wicket easily, they made small partnerships which ultimately led CSK to win their first match of IPL 2024.



Ravindra Jadeja and Shivam Dube stood till last and led CSK to victory by scoring 25 and 34 runs, respectively. The 35-run win also snapped RCB's six-match losing streak in the ongoing IPL season. The franchise had won their last IPL match exactly a month ago at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on March 25 against Punjab Kings.



RCB's campaign in the IPL 2024 hasn't been smooth by any means. They lost the opening game against Chennai Super Kings in Chepauk but managed to win the second game against Punjab Kings. Following the win, they went on a six-match losing streak, which would have been quite uncomfortable, given RCB's skills overall as a team.



Meanwhile, to change their fortunes in the IPL 2024, RCB have now turned the tables with a win over Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). Though the win didn't create any shuffle in the IPL 2024 Points Table, it certainly provided RCB with a winning momentum.



RCB remains at the bottom of the IPL 2024 Points Table with just 4 rating points in nine matches. They have lost seven of their nine games so far.

Punjab required a lion-hearted effort to chase the colossal 241-run target set by the RCB. Though, PBKS got a few good partnerships, but they lost untimely wickets, which kept hampering their asking rate and eventually resulted in the loss.



After the dismissal of Prabhsimran Singh in the first over of the innings, Jonny Bairstow and Rilee Rossouw stitched a good partnership of 65 runs in the powerplay. The two batters made full use of the powerplay restrictions and kept the scoreboard ticking with their sublime strokeplay, with Rossouw being the aggressor.



Later, Rossouw partnered with Shashank Singh, following the dismissal of Bairstow (27 runs), to add another 36 runs to the score. However, Karn Sharma posed as a roadblock to Rossouw's onslaught in the 9th over.



Well-set Rilee Rossouw was dismissed after a magnificent knock of 61 runs in 27 deliveries. Post Rossouw's wicket none of the PBKS batters managed to get hold of the surface. Even Shashank Singh and Ashutosh Sharma, who have appeared as the revelation for PBKS, couldn't resist the scoreboard pressure and succumbed eventually.



PBKS lost wickets on the bounce and RCB were placed comfortably in the fixture to win it. Pacer Mohammad Siraj scalped three wickets, while two apiece were picked by Swapnil Singh, Lockie Ferguson and Karn Sharma.



Eventually, RCB put an end to Punjab's struggle in 181 runs after playing out 17 overs. 



Earlier in the game, RCB posted a humongous 241 runs on the scoreboard owing to a fantastic batting display from Virat Kohli, who played a sublime 47-ball 92-run knock. The pair of Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul has been pretty decent for India in this series. Both have complemented each other and played well along. Rohit opened in the third test, and India had opening stands of 8 and 25 in two innings.
India need a good start from their openers because losing early wickets exposes other batters against the new ball, which is very hard to face this series. Hence, with Rohit getting dropped, let Jaiswal and Rahul open.
3. Make necessary changes to bowling unit
It will not be wrong to say that Jasprit Bumrah has been the lone warrior for India throughout the series. 30 wickets in four tests at an average of 12.83 is unmatchable. But he has not had support from other fast bowlers. Mohammed Siraj has taken 16 wickets at 31.44, and Akashdeep has 5 wickets at an average of 54.
So, it is time for a change. It is time for India to go with fresh legs and pick Prasidh Krishna and Harshit Rana for the last IND vs AUS test. Both are tall bowlers and quicker in pace. Adding to that, India should stick to two spinners, as the surface at SCG has more help for spinners than other Australian surfaces.

The Boxing Day Test between India and Australia at the Melbourne Cricket Stadium ended with a dominating win for the hosts. After having a wicketless second session prior to the tea break on Day 5, India came back strong to take seven wickets in the final session.
The Indian batting line-up once again struggled against the disciplined bowling attack and were bowled out for just 155 runs in the second innings. As a result, Australia have bagged a win by 184 runs to take an unassailable 2-1 lead in the series.
This win has certainly boosted Australia's chances of winning the Border-Gavaskar Trophy after more than a decade and also booking a place in the World Test Championship 2023-25 final. India had their chances, and they would have liked a win, but their performance with the bat was one key reason that they had to surrender once again.

They are at the top of the WTC table with 66.67 PCT. The race is between Australia and India for the second spot. However, the loss at MCG has decreased India's chances more. Australia are second on the WTC table with 61.45 PCT, and India are placed third with 53.27 PCT now.

However, the ongoing WTC marked some solid test performances from Rohit initially under home conditions as he turned into one of India’s leading run-getters before facing a serious dip in form. 

Though Sharma has been a consistent performer, mostly at home, he has often failed to perform in the SENA countries against top-quality bowling attacks. However, as of now, his inconsistency seems to be severely affecting the team’s overall performance in vital matches.

Though Rohit Sharma remains only the third Indian skipper to have won an ICC trophy with the side and his captaincy has received widespread recognition in the limited overs format, he has not had an impact in the longest format of the game.
