PCB in a release on Saturday (20 August) stated that the Pakistan pacer Shaheen Afridi has been ruled out of the upcoming Asia Cup and the home series against England as he is recovering from a knee injury. A huge blow for Pakistan before Asia Cup. Afridi is with the Pakistan team in the Netherlands as part of his rehabilitation program, which is overseen by a trainer and physiotherapist and has been advised four to six weeks of rest following the latest scans and reports. In the meantime, he will remain with the squad working with the medical team.



Chief Medical Officer of PCB, Dr. Najeebullah Soomro said "I have spoken with Shaheen and he is understandably upset with the news, but he is a brave young man who has vowed to come back strongly to serve his country and team. Although he has made progress during his rehabilitation in Rotterdam, it is now clear he will require more time and is likely to return to competitive cricket in October."



Pakistan will begin their Asia Cup campaign against India on August 28, PCB will soon announce Afridi's replacement for the Asia Cup. The home series of seven T20Is against England will start on 20 September to 2 October.

Afridi was ruled out of the upcoming Asia Cup after the medical team advised him the rest for 4-6 weeks. He sustained the injury while fielding during the first Test against Sri Lanka in Galle last month.



On 22nd August, PCB announced his replacement. Mohammad Hasnain will replace Shaheen Shah Afridi in the Pakistan squad for the T20 Asia Cup 2022 to be played in the United Arab Emirates from 27 August to 11 September.

Mohammad Hasnain has represented Pakistan in 18 T20Is and has picked up 17 wickets. Maybe, he is not a like-for-like replacement for Shaheen Afridi but this 22-year-old can really bowl those quickies and also has control over them.



Pakistan will face their Asia Cup opening match in Dubai on August 28 against India, while their second match will take on the Asia Cup qualifier winner on September 2. The Super Four matches will be played from September 3 to 9, with the final on September 11.

"Shaheen is tougher to face than Starc and Boult," said Fakhar Zaman: Fakhar Zaman, the opening batsman for Pakistan, has given Shaheen Afridi high praise. In a <a href="https://twitter.com/cricketpakcompk" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">PCB</a> podcast interview, Fakhar Zaman stated that he has faced Trent Boult and Mitchell Starc, but finds it tougher to face Shaheen Afridi.



He said, ?It is tougher to bat against Shaheen than Starc or Boult.?

Fakhar, who played in 70 ODIs for Pakistan, said that his approach has changed since 2016. To combat his limitations, he attempts to concentrate more on his batting, resulting in his success.



The left-handed opener said that because Rizwan and Babar Azam had set such high standards, everyone was working hard to meet them.



The 33-year-old said that he has worked hard to develop his power-hitting &amp; fitness for international cricket and that it feels wonderful whenever he gets runs for Pakistan. Fakhar also talked about how a cricket player should deal with difficult times or rough patches.



"I think the rough patch is necessary for a cricketer to face in his career. The important thing is not to lose hope and work really hard on the areas of improvement," he added.



Although Fakhar believes that it is impossible to predict outcomes in cricket, he can state that Babar will score significantly in five out of ten games.



He concluded by adding that we often worry excessively over the World Cup. When it does, they will be ready for it as required.

Shaheen Afridi returned to the national team after one year break due to injury. He would be a part of the upcoming two-match series against <a href="https://www.icccricketschedule.com/?s=Sri+Lanka" rel="nofollow">Sri Lanka</a>, which is scheduled in July. Shaheen played first his last test match against Sri Lanka on 22 July, 2022 due to a knee injury. He missed all the matches of longer format after that.



The Selectors has added two uncapped player in the squad for the upcoming series. After performing outstandingly in the Domestic season, Batter Mohammad Huraira and All-Rounder, Aamir Jamal are selected for the National team.



Babar Azam is going to lead the team and will face the Sri Lankan challenge with the support of his fellow team players, including Mohammad Rizwan, Imam-ul-Haq, Abdullah Shafique, Hasan Ali, and Naseem Shah.



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Pakistani Star Pacer, Shaheen Afridi said on his Comeback in test team:</h3>



PCB released multiple statements on Star Bowler Shaheen Afridi on his return to long format games (Test Cricket). Shaheen said, ?I am returning to the Pakistan Test side after a year, and I am very excited. I missed Test cricket a lot, and it was tough for me to be away from Test cricket.?



?After missing our home season due to my injury in Sri Lanka last season, I am excited to make a strong comeback and achieve a century of wickets in Test cricket in the same country.?



Shaheen Afridi played 25 test matches, taking 99 wickets at an average of 24.86. Before going to Sri Lanka, All team members will join the Training camp on 3 July in Karachi. On 9 July, Pakistan Team will leave Pakistan for Sri Lanka. 



The Test series schedule is expected to be announced soon by the Sri Lankan Board. Pakistan and Sri Lanka will play the two test match series in the World Test Championship 2023-25 Cycle.

Afridi scalped 4 wickets in just an over to stun all his fans and commentators at once in the game between Nottinghamshire and Birmingham Bears in Vitality T20 Blast.



In the video shared from the official Twitter handle of Vitality T20 Blast, Afridi can be seen demolishing the top order of Birmingham Bears with his immaculate first over, which saw him create a new world record.



In pursuit of 168 runs total posted by Nottinghamshire, Birmingham Bears saw destruction take place from close quarters as Shaheen Afridi wreaked havoc. In the first legal delivery of the innings, after giving away five wides, Afridi caught Bears' skipper Alex David off-guard with his pin-point unplayable yorker. In the very next delivery, Pakistan's pacer castled Chris Benjamin as he looked to play a scoop shot.



The hat-trick delivery was negotiated nicely by Dan Mousley, who took a single to bring up opening runs for his side. The fourth delivery had the same outcome - a single. However, Afridi didn't stop his quest as he landed two more blows in the last two deliveries of the same over. 



The lanky pacer then got rid of Dan Mousley, who was caught by Olly Stone at short covers. To finish his over in style, Afridi castled three sticks of Ed Bernard with a full-length off-stump delivery. 



Shaheen Afridi's insane 4 wickets in an over pushed Birmingham Bears into the backfoot right in the first over of the innings. However, the Bears showed the courage of a lion as they did all the rescue work and went on to restructure their chase of 169 runs.

Despite that fantastic first over by Shaheen Afridi, Nottinghamshire was defeated by Birmingham Bears by 2 wickets with five balls to spare. Rob Yates, one of the openers, played a key role in keeping the Bears' hopes alive for a very long time. Yates scored a match-winning innings of 65 runs in 46 deliveries with the help of three fours and five sixes.



Other Birmingham players who held the crease for a brief period were Glenn Maxwell (19 runs), Jackob Bethell and Jake Lintott contributed 27 runs each.
