<p>PCB in a release on Saturday (20 August) stated that the Pakistan pacer Shaheen Afridi has been ruled out of the upcoming Asia Cup and the home series against England as he is recovering from a knee injury. A huge blow for Pakistan before Asia Cup. Afridi is with the Pakistan team in the Netherlands as part of his rehabilitation program, which is overseen by a trainer and physiotherapist and has been advised four to six weeks of rest following the latest scans and reports. In the meantime, he will remain with the squad working with the medical team.</p>



<p>Chief Medical Officer of PCB, Dr. Najeebullah Soomro said <strong>"I have spoken with Shaheen and he is understandably upset with the news, but he is a brave young man who has vowed to come back strongly to serve his country and team. Although he has made progress during his rehabilitation in Rotterdam, it is now clear he will require more time and is likely to return to competitive cricket in October."</strong></p>



<p>Pakistan will begin their Asia Cup campaign against India on August 28, PCB will soon announce Afridi's replacement for the Asia Cup. The home series of seven T20Is against England will start on 20 September to 2 October.</p>

<p>Afridi injured his right knee ligament while fielding during the first Test against Sri Lanka in July and has been out of action since then. According to the PCB, he is expected to return to action in the T20I tri-series in New Zealand, which also includes Bangladesh, which begins on October 7. Most probably he'll be available for the opening encounter of the T20 World Cup against India on 23 October 2022.</p>

<p>In the latest injury update of Shaheen Shah Afridi by the Pakistan Cricket Board on the last 20th, it was informed that he will be missing out on the upcoming Asia Cup and England tour due to a knee injury. Afridi was ruled out of the upcoming Asia Cup after the medical team advised him the rest for 4-6 weeks. He sustained the injury while fielding during the first Test against Sri Lanka in Galle last month.</p>



<p>On 22nd August, PCB announced his replacement. <strong>Mohammad Hasnain will replace Shaheen Shah Afridi in the Pakistan squad for the T20 Asia Cup 2022</strong> to be played in the United Arab Emirates from 27 August to 11 September.</p>

<p><strong>"Shaheen is tougher to face than Starc and Boult," said Fakhar Zaman:</strong> Fakhar Zaman, the opening batsman for Pakistan, has given Shaheen Afridi high praise. In a <a href="https://twitter.com/cricketpakcompk" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">PCB</a> podcast interview, Fakhar Zaman stated that he has faced Trent Boult and Mitchell Starc, but finds it tougher to face Shaheen Afridi.</p>

<p>In pursuit of 168 runs total posted by Nottinghamshire, Birmingham Bears saw destruction take place from close quarters as Shaheen Afridi wreaked havoc. In the first legal delivery of the innings, after giving away five wides, Afridi caught Bears' skipper Alex David off-guard with his pin-point unplayable yorker. In the very next delivery, Pakistan's pacer castled Chris Benjamin as he looked to play a scoop shot.</p>

The second match of the five-match series between the two heavyweights took place at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Saturday (25th January).</span><span><span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span></span></p>
<p><span>Tilak Varma played one of his best innings in his career as he almost single-handedly won the game for India. The left-hander played a magnificent innings for his team and helped India win the game by the margin of just two wickets and took a 2-0 lead in the series.</span></p>
<p><span>Chasing the target of 166 runs, India struggled to have a good start as both the openers, Sanju Samson and Abhishek Sharma, got out early. Tilak Varma, who walked out to bat at number three played a stellar innings and held the one end despite the wickets falling at the other end.</span><span><span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span></span></p>
<p><span>The Southpaw hardly got any support till Washington Sundar (26) played a key role down the order before India was left tottering at 126 for seven.
