A calm-headed person, Cummins has led Australia to glory last time around. He is also working on variations such as the slower ball and the knuckleball. His teammates regard him as a fun-loving character who always keeps the team mood a little light.&nbsp;



<h2>2) Shaheen Shah Afridi is the top pacer currently:</h2>



 I can still picture KL Rahul?s off-stump flying off from the ground by a ?jaffa? from Shaheen Shah Afridi at the ICC T20 World Cup 2021. He was elite in the game against India and single-handedly won Pakistan the match. His delivery to Rohit Sharma was quick, crisp, and in the right area.&nbsp;



Shaheen also has the same traits as Pat Cummins. He started in the year 2018 at the age of 18 and has become the senior-most and most-dependable bowler for Pakistan. He is set to rattle the Indian batting once again on the Australian pitches that help the pacers. Shaheen gives the Pakistan team 2 to 3 good overs in the powerplay. His balls are quick and have a deadly in-swing for the right-hander. He can again look to exploit Rohit Sharma?s weakness against the left-arm pacers. Rohit Sharma has made effective and strategic use of Bumrah to deal with the senior batters of the opposition.&nbsp;



He has an express pace. He clocks 145 clicks consistently. Because of this express pace, his slower ball becomes very difficult to deal with. He has also updated his arsenal with the wide-yorker and the knuckleball. Over the years, Bumrah has assured domination inT20 cricket. And the cricket community knows very well what Bumrah can do on his day. 2 to 3 overs in the powerplay and the remaining at the death is what Bumrah has to offer.&nbsp;



<h2>4) Anrich Nortje will play for South Africa at the ICC T20 World Cup:</h2>



Anrich Nortje has been under the shadow of KG Rabada but has been equally effective for South Africa. He offers the exact same menu that Rabada has to offer. Both the bowlers did very well for the South African National team and for the Delhi Capitals back in 2020.&nbsp;



It is very unfortunate that Anrich Nortje had an elbow injury. But that hasn?t hampered his pace. He has become quicker. He held the record for bowling the fastest bowl of the IPL till IPL 2022. Anrich also has a good set of variations. He makes use of the slower ones. His stock delivery is bowled at 145+ kmph but his slower one comes at 110 kmph. Now that pace difference leaves the batters perplexed.&nbsp;

<h2>Lack of Inspiration:&nbsp;</h2>



Lack of inspiration is one of the biggest reasons why Pakistani fast bowling is on the decline. We have seen Wasim and Waqar getting inspired by Imran Khan. Rashid Latif was once in charge of the academy which worked on grooming these young pacers. The MRF Pace Foundation also needs to have a vast expanse in the small towns of Pakistan. The MRF organization is a Chennai-based organization. India and Pakistan have their differences but for the growth of the sport, they need to keep these differences aside. &nbsp;



<h2>Injury management has Costs Pakistani Fast Bowlers:&nbsp;</h2>



In India, the NCA has introduced strong plans for the rehabilitation of injured players. The NCA has worked especially on injury-prone players like Hardik Pandya and Deepak Chahar. A similar structure can be introduced by the PCB. The PCB management is working on such a world-class system or world-class academy under the supervision of Ramiz Raja. Hasan Ali, Mohammad Irfan, and Mohammad Abbas are players who could have had longer careers if their injuries could be managed. &nbsp;



During the World Cup of 2003, Shoaib Akhtar was having pain in his knees. The Pakistani physio during those days made sure that Shoaib plays the game against India in full bloom. These are characters whose contributions go unnoticed. Such characters, help in making legends. &nbsp;

Shaheen Shah Afridi declared fit for T20 World Cup 2022: In a big boost to Pakistan?s squad ahead of the T20 World Cup 2022, pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi has been declared fit to play in the showpiece event. The pacer will unite with his national squad on Saturday, October 15 in Brisbane.



It is important to note that Shaheen will take part in Pakistan?s two scheduled warm-up matches on October 17 and 19. His match fitness will be accessed by the management in those matches.



?I am super excited at the prospects of rejoining the national side for the T20 World Cup and playing my part in our Australia campaign. It has been a difficult period for me to be miles away from the game and the team I love the most, and not be part of some grueling and exciting matches,? said Shaheen Shah Afridi.



Notably, the 22-years old quick bowler picked up a knee injury during his team?s test assignment against Sri Lanka in July. He was ruled out of further matches and missed the Asia Cup 2022 along with Pakistan?s home seven-match T20I series against England.

?I have been bowling six to eight overs trouble-free for the past 10 days with full run-up and pace. While I have enjoyed bowling and batting in the nets, nothing can replace the feel of the match environment and I can?t wait to be in that setting.



?It has been a rigorous and challenging rehabilitation programme, but I have thoroughly enjoyed it. To be honest, I am feeling fitter than ever before and can?t wait to wear the playing kit and fire a few thunderbolts.



?I want to thank the PCB Medical Advisory Committee as well as the Crystal Palace F.C. for allowing me to use their outstanding facilities and looking after me so well during the rehabilitation programme.?

ICC Player of the Month Nominee for November: The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Tuesday (December 06) announced November?s Player of the Month Award Nominees. The list of three top performers in the month of November includes England?s two World Cup-winning players and a player from Pakistan in the Men?s category.



English skipper Jos Buttler has been named alongside Adil Rashid, who were brilliant with their performance and helped England surge to the T20 World Cup glory. While Buttler remained England?s best batter throughout the tournament, Adil Rashid unleashed his spin web toward the end of the tournament.



Jos Buttler mustered 225 runs in 6 innings which included an unbeaten 80-run knock in the semi-final against India. Moreover, he displayed his full range of shots during the World Cup and spearheaded his side to the coveted glory.



On the other side, Adil Rashid spun his web and controlled the game during the mid-phase in the knockout games. Against team India in the second semi-final, Rashid scalped a wicket by giving away just 20 runs in his quota of 4 overs. While in the final, he went a step further to dismantle two Pakistani batters by conceding mere 22 runs. As per the experts, Rashid?s performance in the ICC knockouts gave England a major boost to fetch World Cup glory.

Pakistan won the toss, and they chose to bat first. Imam-ul-Haq and Fakhar Zaman came to open but got out quite early. Skipper Babar Azam and Mohd. Rizwan made a small partnership of 86 runs for the 3rd wicket. Then, Babar made a huge partnership of 214 runs for the fifth wicket with Iftikhar Ahmed.&nbsp;



Babar Azam Knocks his 19th ODI Century and becomes the fastest Batters to reach this milestone. Babar scored 151 runs in 131 balls at a strike rate of 115.27, with 14 fours and four sixes. Iftikhar Ahmed played an aggressive inning, and he made 109 runs in 71 balls with 11 fours and four sixes.

Pakistan scored 343 runs on the scoreboard in 50 overs. From Nepal, Sompal Kami took two wickets, and Karan KC and Sandeep Lamichhane took one wicket each.



Nepal had a poor start as they lost three wickets in the starting two overs of the second inning. Nepal failed to score runs against the Strong bowling Side of Pakistan. Sompal Kami scored 28 runs, whereas Aarif Sheikh scored 26 runs; otherwise, no other batters scored runs in this match.



From the Pakistan Side, Shadab Khan took four wickets in just 6.4 overs spell, whereas Haris Rauf and Shaheen Afridi got two wickets each.&nbsp;

Pakistan to appoint new vice-captain ahead of ICC World Cup 2023: Ahead of the ICC World Cup 2023, Pakistan is set to have a new vice-captain following the team's debacle in the recently concluded Asia Cup 2023. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is likely to elevate Shaheen Afridi to the role of vice-captain, replacing incumbent Shadab Khan.



The reports of Pakistan appointing a new vice-captain emerged following Pakistan's poor show in the Asia Cup 2023, which saw them getting eliminated from the tournament in the Super 4 stage. Pakistan lost two consecutive Super 4 games in the Asia Cup 2023 to India and Sri Lanka, which eventually resulted in their elimination.



It can be noted that the step to replace Shadab Khan from the vice-captain's role is largely a byproduct of his underwhelming performance in the continental event. Shadab Khan could pick just a handful of wickets with a very expensive economy rate. Moreover, he was taken to the cleaners by Virat Kohli and KL Rahul during the one-sided affair between India and Pakistan.



A report published in Geo.tv claimed that the PCB is looking to give the responsibility of being Babar Azam's deputy to Shaheen Shah Afridi. The left-arm pacer has been a consistent performer for Pakistan over the years and has played a huge role in making the team successful in the ODIs.



Notably, it was also reported that there was an internal conflict between the players in the Pakistan dressing room. Some Pakistani media outlets brought out that there was a clear rift among the players.



Pakistan captain Babar Azam and ace pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi were specifically reported, to have engaged in a war of words after they suffered a humiliating loss to Sri Lanka. Babar had, reportedly, targeted the senior players in the team and questioned their roles. However, Shaheen was quick in his response as he asked Babar to at least appreciate who was performing and not generalize the statement.



The argument went a step further as Babar replied that he is well aware of who is performing and who is not. Meanwhile, wicketkeeper batter Mohammad Rizwan interrupted both players to end the conflict.



The report added that Babar didn't talk to any of the team members on their way back to the team hotel after concluding the post-match press conference. 



However, these reports were rubbished by the Pakistan sources. They said there is no rift among the players and claimed all are on good terms with each other.

Pakistan appointed Shaheen Shah Afridi as T20I captain after Babar Azam's exit, Shaan Masood to lead Test side: Speedster Shaheen Shah Afridi has been appointed Pakistan's new T20I captain, while Shaan Masood will lead the Test side following Babar Azam's exit from the leadership role. The decision was rolled out in public shortly after Babar Azam announced his position on leaving the captaincy.



Soon after Babar announced his resignation in public, the Pakistan Cricket Board issued a statement clarifying that the then-captain was offered an option to extend the leadership role in the Test format, which he declined, and his fate in the white-ball cricket was already decided and there was no need for any changes in it.



"After consultation with his family, Babar decided to step down and PCB stands behind his decision. PCB respects his decision and continues to support him as a player. Babar Azam is truly a world-class player and we want him to continue to thrive as a player," Zaka Ashraf said. "He is one of the best batters Pakistan has ever produced. He is our asset, and we will continue to support him."



Meanwhile, with no immediate ODI planned for Pakistan, the cricket board has decided to not announce the new ODI captain for the team.



Notably, Shaheen Shah Afridi was touted to succeed Babar Azam in the T20I captaincy. His stint with his Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise Lahore Qalandars complimented that decision. Afridi experienced immediate success in the PSL with two back-to-back trophy wins for Lahore Qalandars. Under his leadership, Lahore became the first side in the PSL to defend their title.



The pacer will be in action in the coming months. His first assignment as the T20I captain will be against New Zealand in 2024. Pakistan and New Zealand are set to play 5 game T20I series, starting 12 January 2024.



On the other side, Shaan Masood's captaincy stint will be on display as Pakistan travels to Australia for the three-game test series in December 2023 and January 2024.

Prithvi Shaw did not find any takers as the Mumbai batter went unsold in the IPL 2025 auction. Prithvi, who had a base price of Rs 75 lakh in the auction, was released by Delhi Capitals but he did not attract any bids from the ten franchises.
Delhi Capitals co-owner Parth Jindal has said that Prithvi Shaw is misunderstood in many ways but needed a 'jolt' in the form of the IPL 2025 Auction snub. Shaw has been part of the Delhi franchise since returning as the U-19 World Cup winning captain in 2018 and was bought for 1.2 Crores. Ahead of the 2022 auction, the Mumbai batter was retained by DC for Rs. 7.5 Crore but the past few seasons hasn't been great for the 25-year-old.
Speaking to Sports Today, Jindal said that Shaw is a great kid but needed a jolt to get up from his slumber. The DC co-owner feels that Shaw needs to work hard, get back the love of the game and get disciplined. Jindal ended by saying he hopes the Mumbai batter can return back to his best form

At No.3, Ravichandran Ashwin picked Tilak Varma. The left-hander oozed his class with the bat in the last series against South Africa. He batted at No.3 and slammed two back-to-back centuries. Skipper Suryakumar Yadav, as per Ashwin, will bat at No.4.
Hardik Pandya, Nitish Kumar Reddy and Axar Patel are the three all-rounders picked by Ravichandran Ashwin in his Indian XI for the first IND vs ENG T20I. They are expected to play a major role with the bat and ball.

Former Pakistan cricketer Basit Ali talked about the delay in the squad of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 for the Pakistan team. He said that it might look like they are scared of announcing the team, but it seems that they don't know what to do. 
The ICC Champions Trophy 2025 is around the corner and all the teams have named their squad for the tournament except the hosts Pakistan. The Men in Green are yet to announce the team even though the deadline of 12th January has already been surpassed by a long margin. 
India, Australia, England, South Africa, New Zealand, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan have all revealed their squad for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. This has made many speculate about why Pakistan isn't announcing their squad for the tournament, which is less than one month away. 
There have been several reports that Pakistan will be announcing their squad for the tournament soon. They are awaiting the fitness of a few players, and hence, they will soon be naming the team. Some reports also have revealed the players who will be playing, but an official announcement is yet to come.

"Pakistan kya darr gaya jo abhi tak team announce nahi ki? Nahi dara nahi hai. Samajh nahi aa rahi hai -- karein to kya karein? (Is Pakistan scared to announce their squad? No, it isn't, just unsure what to do and what not). The biggest issue is whether Saim Ayub can return fit or not. It's still not clear." 
It remains to be seen when will Pakistan announce the squad for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. The tournament is all set to take place from 19th February, with the final all set to be played on 9th March.
