After watching the Indian young talents success in the recent past, Shahid Afridi advised former Pakistan greats to follow the footsteps of Rahul Dravid. India?s National Cricket Academy (NCA) director, Rahul Dravid has been phenomenal in nurturing and grooming young Indian talents.



Afridi speaking in the Function in Lahore, advised the former Pakistani cricketers who are involved in nurturing the young players to follow Rahul Dravid. ?The Wall? has served as the head coaches of India?s U-19 and India A team.



Former Pakistan skipper said that there is so much to learn from Rahul Dravid. He has invested a lot of hard works in the young talents right from the U-19 level and the players are now successful.



?I think as it is we are facing a shortage of quality talent so what is coming through needs to be groomed properly by our former greats. They can do a lot with these young players,? he said.



Afridi further said that former Pakistan cricket players can groom young guys like Dravid. Inzamam-ul-Haq, Younis Khan and Muhammad Yousuf can do a lot of work in shaping the players.



<h2>Pakistani bowlers having an issue with the management:</h2>



Talking about the Mohammad Amir issue, as he refused to play under the eyes of Misbah-ul-Haq and Waqar Younis, Afridi said this is the old problem with Pakistan cricket.



?Pakistani bowlers having an issue with the coaches is a long story that begins years ago. My issue with Waqar Younis is well documented. The matter can only be solved when the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) will open and listen to the problems of the disappointed players.?



Pakistan speedster, Mohammad Amir who announced his retirement recently has said that he will not withdraw his decision till he present management is in the place.



Afridi also advised PCB to resolve the issue with Mohammad Amir as the speedster has a lot to offer to the country.



"The players will have to carry a big heart to become successful in world cricket. All the cricketers must play an aggressive cricket and with full encouragement," Afridi added.

PSL Season 6: Shahid Afridi blames PCB for PSL Season 6 postponement.



PSL Season 6: Former Pakistani skipper Shahid Afridi fired questions towards Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and blames them for the postponement of Pakistan Super League (PSL) Season 6. He added the cricket board were not prepared with a second-string plan to tackle the situation.



Players and the members from the support staff in the PSL were tested positive for the coronavirus. As many as seven members got infected with the virus post which the league was halted and postponed.



Shahid Afridi speaking at a function in Lahore said that PSL should not have been postponed if PCB had other plans to handle the situation.



?The PSL is a very big brand of Pakistan and Pakistan cricket and it is unfortunate that the PCB didn?t appear to have a plan B for this important event,? he said.



?But it appears they didn?t have a plan B when the COVID-19 cases were detected among some players and officials and this is surprising to me. The postponement didn?t send out a good message,? he said.



The owner of Quetta Gladiators, a franchise in PSL, held PCB responsible for the outburst of the virus as the board failed to maintain the safety standards in the T20 League.



?I think the PCB is 90 per cent responsible for the faults in the bio-secure bubble created for the tournament which eventually led to the postponement of the PSL,? he said.



Nadeem Omar, the owner of Quetta Gladiators, later admitted the miscommunication between PCB and six franchises of the Pakistan Super League which put them in a drastic situation.

Virat Kohli should step down from all format captaincy, to achieve greater heights in batting: Shahid Afridi.



Former Pakistani all-rounder Shahid Afridi, on Saturday, expressed his views on Virat Kohli and his captaincy duties with team India. Afridi suggests Kohli to retire from all format captaincy and play as a proper batsman.



Afridi?s statement on the Indian premier batsman came after the BCCI appointed Rohit Sharma as the leader of the shortest format.&nbsp;



"I think he has been a wonderful force for Indian cricket but I think it would be best if he decided to retire as captain in all formats now," Afridi said on Pakistan TV channel Samaa.



The former Pakistan skipper further said that Rohit Sharma, the new Indian T20I skipper, has got a great head on his shoulders and exactly knows how to react in different situations.



"I have played with Rohit for a year (in Deccan Chargers) and he is an outstanding player with a top mentality. His biggest asset is he can stay relaxed where required and show aggression when it is needed the most," he added.

Afridi shared a common dressing room with Rohit Sharma back in the inaugural season of the IPL for Deccan Chargers (now defunct).



Further, the Pakistani all-rounder believed that for Virat Kohli to thrive as a batsman, he should give up on all format captaincy and focus solely on his batting abilities.



"...I think Virat should step down as captain and just enjoy his remaining cricket which I think aplenty. He is a top batsman and he can play freely without any other pressures on his mind. He will enjoy his cricket," Afridi said.



After India?s consecutive failure in the ICC tournaments, Virat Kohli entered public scrutiny. Many asked Virat to relinquish his ODI captaincy as well, soon after he announced his decision to step down from the T20I captaincy following the completion of the ICC T20 World Cup 2021.

Ravi Shastri backs Shahid Afridi?s decision to trim ODI format to 40 overs a side: A few years back, the governing body of cricket and officials were worried about the existence of long-format Test cricket amid rising T20 leagues across the globe, however, now things have taken a sharp turn as ODI cricket has become the most inefficient and time-consuming format of cricket. The major setback for the format was when Ben Stokes announced his retirement from the format to focus on the other two formats due to heavily packed international scheduling.



Since, the 2019 ODI World Cup, which New Zealand won, the ODI format was neglected by all the cricket boards as the next World Cup was far (in 2023) and focused primarily on the T20Is and the tests. Owing to this, the 50-over game has now become a dull format to watch.



However, Ravi Shastri, a former Indian coach, has an interesting approach to making the game attractive even in ODI cricket. Shastri reiterated former Pakistani skipper, Shahid Afridi?s word of trimming the format to 40 overs.



Shastri during commentary for the second ODI between West Indies and India said that there is no harm in making a game interesting by trimming a few overs.

?There is no harm in shortening the span of the game. When one-day cricket started, it was of 60 overs. When we won the World Cup in 1983, it was of 60 overs. After that, people thought that 60 overs were a bit too long. People found that span of overs between 20 to 40 hard to digest. So they reduced it from 60 to 50. So years have gone by now since that decision so why not reduce it from 50 to 40 now. Because you got to be forward-thinking and evolve. It stayed for 50 for too long," he said.



Former Pakistani cricketer Shahid Afridi was on the same lines as Ravi Shastri with a view to shorten the ODI format.&nbsp;



?One-day cricket has become quite boring now. I would suggest to cut ODI cricket from 50 overs to 40 overs in order to make it entertaining,? said Shahid Afridi during an interview with Samaa TV earlier.

The Duckworth-Lewis method has always been controversial and this time it happened again in the India vs South Africa match. India moved closer to securing a T20 World Cup semi-final berth with a close five-run win over Bangladesh in their Group 2 Super 12 match on Wednesday.



Bangladesh got off to an explosive start in the rain-hit competition chasing 185, with opener Liton Das scoring a 21-ball half-century, but a rain gap hampered their pace and a revised target of 151 in 16 overs. As the game restarted after the rain break, Bangladesh lost wickets in a cluster, ending at 145/6. When rain interrupted play, Bangladesh was 66/0 in 7 overs, the DLS par score was 49/0, and if the match had not resumed, Bangladesh would have finished as winners by 17 runs.

Some incidents during the match created controversy. Firstly, Shakib Al Hasan expressed his displeasure after the umpire signaled wide following a gesture by striker Virat Kohli. And later, when Kohli bowled a throw while fielding, Bangladesh wicketkeeper Nurul Hasan took exception as he accused the former India captain of 'fake fielding'.



With the win, India moved to the top of the table with six points, followed by South Africa at 5 and Bangladesh at 4. Ideally, 6 points are good enough to qualify for the last four, but with some matches still left, nothing is guaranteed given the current situation. The result further dented Pakistan's hopes of qualifying for the semi-finals.

<h2>Shahid Afridi made a bold statement</h2>



Shahid Afridi responded when a reporter from a Pakistan TV channel 'SAMAA TV' said that the ICC is removing all stops to ensure, 'India reaches the final' in the context of the resumption of matches after a rain delay.



Shahid Afridi said on a live talk show: "Shakib Al Hasan was also saying the same thing. And that too got to be seen on screen. You saw the ground? it was wet. But I think the inclination of the ICC is to take India to the semi-finals in some way or the other. And the umpire was also the same who was in the Pakistan match. He should also be provided with the award for the best umpire in the whole world."

Shahid Afridi, who is a panelist on the show, responded to the claim by praising Liton. He scored 60 runs in 27 balls before being run out. After his dismissal, Bangladesh lost the plot as their next six wickets fell for 40 runs. Afridi, however, had nothing more to say about Liton.



Reaction to what the journalist had to say about 'ICC's inclination towards India', he said "I know what happened. Given the amount of rain that happened, the game resumed immediately after the break. It is very evident that ICC, then India playing, then the pressure that comes with it, there are many factors involved but Litton's batting was amazing. He played positive cricket. After six overs, we felt that if Bangladesh didn't lose wickets for another 2-3 overs, they would have won the match. Overall, the fight shown by Bangladesh was brilliant."

Raina, who now plays T20 leagues across the globe, is currently a part of the India Maharajas in the ongoing Legends League Cricket Masters tournament in Doha, Qatar. He was the top performer for his side in their recent game against World Giants.



Maharaja?s batters struggled to get going but Raina came to the rescue and played a brisk knock. He scored 49 off 41 deliveries that helped his side post a total of 136 runs, which at one moment seemed difficult. The batter smashed 2 fours and 3 sixes in his innings and was the lone warrior for his side with second best contribution coming from Manvinder Bisla, 36.?

Despite his all-round performance in the game, he failed to win the game for his side. While he was the top performer for his team on the field, his best came in the press conference.&nbsp;



After the game, Raina was asked by a reporter whether he might return to professional cricket after his performance in the game as many are eager to see him in the IPL again. Replying to this, he showed great humour and gave a savage response, saying:??I'm Suresh Raina, not Shahid Afridi! I've taken the retirement.?

Former Indian opener batter Gautam Gambhir has been appointed as the head coach of the Indian National Cricket Team and the globe is reacting in their own way. Amid the proceedings, Shaheen Afridi and Dale Steyn have also come up with their view on Gambhir's appointment.



The left-handed batter Gautam Gambhir is infamous for his sharp, unfiltered, and strong opinions. Former South African pacer Dale Steyn enthusiastically expressed his happiness and support for Gambhir's appointment. Having shared the field with Gambhir on numerous occasions, Steyn lauded the former Indian opener's aggression and fierceness, qualities he feels are sorely missing in modern-day cricket. 



Steyn emphasized that the rise of franchise T20 leagues has led to players developing friendships across teams, diluting the intense competitive spirit that Gambhir embodies.



"I am a big fan of Gautam Gambhir. I love his aggression. He is one of the few Indians I ever played against who came back at you, and I like that. I think he is going to take that into the dressing room with guys like Virat and some of the other senior players who might not play as big a part anymore. I am not too sure. Not just in India, but in world cricket, we need guys who are a little bit more aggressive and play the game a little bit harder," Steyn told Star Sports, as quoted by ANI.
