IPL 2021: Bangladesh?s all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has been granted permission to skip the upcoming Sri Lanka tour to play the Indian Premier League fourteenth edition. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) on Friday said that the cricketer has approached us for permission to play the T20 Tournament.?



"Shakib gave us a letter stating that he would like to skip the series against Sri Lanka to play in the IPL. We accepted his plea as we don't want to force someone who is reluctant," BCB operations chairman Akram Khan told AFP.



The all-rounder is picked up by Kolkata Knight Riders for the upcoming IPL for INR 3.2 Crores in the IPL 2021 Auction held in Chennai.



In recent time, a trend has started for the players to miss out on the international games to play the Indian T20 League. The prime example is England, where the team could be without Ben Stokes, Jofra Archer, Jos Buttler, Sam Curran for the New Zealand tour in June.



Bangladesh are expected to travel to Sri Lanka in April and May for a Test series, before playing them again at home in a three-match one-day international series shortly afterwards.



Bangladesh have already granted Shakib leave to skip next month's forthcoming one-day international and Twenty20 series in New Zealand to be with his expectant wife in the United States.

The auction became interesting as the franchisees involved in the bidding war for the players and some players broke the bars and created records in the recent IPL auction. Over 145 Crore rupees spent and 57 players were sold in the IPL auction.



Chirs Morris got the highest ever bid in the IPL history of 16.25 Croes while Krishnappa Gowtham got the highest domestic uncapped bid of INR 9.25 Crores. There were players who got extremely brilliant sold prices while some cricketers got much less than what they deserved.

Malan for Punjab Kings is a big steal in the IPL 2021 Auction. He really deserved much better than what he got in the auction. Malan reached the crown of ICC T20I rankings in mere 19 games for England.



He has scored 6117 runs in 223 T20 games thus far with a strike rate of 128.61. In the T20I games, he has over 800 runs in 19 games with a strike rate nearing 150.



<h3>Shakib Al Hasan:</h3>



Bangladesh all-rounder is back in the Indian T20 League after completing one year ban. He will be representing two times champion, Kolkata Knight Riders in the upcoming edition of IPL. He was brought by the franchise for INR 3.25 Crores.



He has amassed 5080 runs in 317 T20 games thus far and scalped 360 wickets with an economy of less than seven. He is a consistent performer for any side and can provide depth in both batting and bowling.

BCB cricket operations chairman clearly said that the cricketer opted to be in the Indian Premier League.



?Shakib wrote in the letter that he wants to play the IPL instead of the Test series in Sri Lanka,? he said.



As Bangladesh is out of the ICC World Test Championship race so it will be important for us to prepare for the ICC T20 World Cup which will be held in India later this year. He said playing for KKR in the IPL 2021 will help him prepare for the forthcoming IPL event in India.

Moniruzzaman was not officiating in the game which involved rage incidents of Shakib al Hasan while he was the Third Umpire when Mahmudullah Riyad got carried away due to a wide call.



The umpire is considered a rising prospect for Bangladesh umpiring and is a member of?Bangladesh?s ICC Emerging Panel. Moniruzzaman. A couple of reports also suggested that the umpire was likely to be considered for the elite panel as well.



?I was not involved in Shakib?s game. The way he behaved was something very hard for me to digest. In the Mahmudullah match, I was the TV umpire and watching the episode closely. It left me numb and at that point, I decided not to carry on with umpiring,? he recalled.
