1. Pathum Nissanka - Sri Lanka's young opening batsman Pathum Nissanka has been a major part of the batting lineup for quite some time in the past. The 23-year-old has been highly impressive batting up the order for his side in white ball cricket in his short career so far. Nissanka who made his T20I debut only in 2021 has notched up remarkably good numbers in the shortest format of the game for his side. 



With 801 runs in 28 T20I innings so far for Sri Lanka, the right-handed has been of great use to his side in crucial games. He played an important role with the bat in Sri Lanka's Asia Cup victory last month. The youngsters scored 173 runs in 6 matches at an impressive average of 34.5. He will be expected to carry forward his brilliant performance with the bat in the T20 World Cup too.



2. Bhanuka Rajapaksa - Bhanuka Rajapaksa is another major player to watch out for in the World T20 in Australia. The left-handed has been brilliant with the bat in the middle overs for his side. His ability to stabilise the innings under tough situations and change gears to take on the bowlers instantly in a whistle makes him a highly dangerous batsman to bowl at. 



He has been in stellar form with the bat in recent times which played a crucial role in his side winning the Asia Cup last month. He scored a fantastic 191 runs in 6 games including a match-winning knock of 71 in the final. The explosive batsman has a total of 541 runs in 24 T20I innings so far in his career and will be a major part of Sri Lanka's plans in the T20 World Cup.



3. Wanindu Hasaranga - Wanindu Hasaranga has been the pillar of Sri Lanka's bowling lineup in recent times especially in white ball cricket for sure. The 25-year-old with his brilliant spin bowling has been a major threat to several top-quality batsmen from all across the World. With 71 wickets in just 44 T20I matches so far in his career, he is without a doubt one of the most impactful bowlers in the game for his side. 



His present form with the ball is excellent too since he picked up 9 wickets in 6 matches in the Asia Cup last month. Sri Lanka Squad For World Cup 2023: Just 9 days to go and the much-awaited ICC ODI Cricket World Cup 2023 will get underway! Nearly every team have announced their squad and Sri Lanka is the latest to do so. Sri Lanka announced their 15-member squad on Tuesday, 26 September, just two days before ICC's cut-off date. A couple of key players miss out with some joining the squad back. Dasun Shanaka will be the captain of the side and Kusal Perera will be his deputy.



The good news for Sri Lanka fans is that Maheesh Theekshana is back and is in good condition. He was struggling to bowl and even to walk in the Super 4 match against Pakistan but he is fit and in the squad. 



The biggest setback for the SL Cricket fans, however, is that one of the prominent names missing from the squad and that is Wanindu Hasaranga, who failed to regain fitness in time for the ICC mega event.



The leg-spinner went through a thigh injury during the Lankan Premier League playoffs last month, when he finished as the tournament's most run-scorer with 279 runs and wicket-taker with 19 wickets. The spinner was subsequently unable to compete in the Asia Cup due to injury.



Along with Hasaranga, veteran bowler Chameera is unfortunately also not fit and missed his name in the World Cup Squad. He sustained a shoulder injury and is yet to recover from it. But, Dilshan Madushanka and Lahiru Kumara coming back to the squad after missing the Asia Cup is a big plus for the team.



Sri Lanka last played the ODI match in the Asia Cup 2023 Final where they suffered a humiliating defeat to India. They batted first and Siraj took the Lankan by storms, taking 4 wickets in a single over. India Bowled out Lanka for just 50 runs and chased down the target without any loss.

Not only this, it is learned that India also won't be playing any warmup matches ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. This is because all the teams will be in Pakistan, and hence, it will be difficult for the International Cricket Council (ICC) to arrange the warmup match. 
The reports added that India team management is happy with the net session ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. This is because they will be playing the three-match ODI series against England, which will begin on 6th February across three venues in India. 
Apart from this, it is reported that the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 won't be having a captain photoshoot because of the different challenges along with the different arrivals of the team. This means that Rohit Sharma won't be travelling to Pakistan for this and will be staying in Dubai with the team. 
The opening ceremony of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 will be held in Lahore. There were talks of having the event in Karachi but the Pakistan Cricket Board decided to host it in Lahore.

India and England are all set to lock horns with each other in the fourth match of the T20I series. The game is all set to be played at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune on Thursday (30th January). The series is currently at 2-1, with hosts in the lead. 
India has been without the services of Rinku Singh for the last two games of the IND vs ENG series. The left-hander sustained a low back spasm while fielding in the first game and was then ruled out of the next two games of the series as he was under the observation of the BCCI medical team. 
In his place, the India team added Dhruv Jurel to the XI, and the move didn't pay off. The keeper-batter batted lower down the order and struggled to get going in both games, and it potentially cost them the last match of the series.
