Indian limited-overs skipper Rohit Sharma is all set to assume captain?s role in the country?s test side ahead of the home series against Sri Lanka. As per the latest development on the captaincy issue, the Chetan Sharma-led selection panel is convinced to name Rohit, captain of India?s test team.



The island nation is scheduled to tour India for two tests and three T20Is later this month. The tour is likely to begin on February 24, following the completion of the West Indies tour of India 2021.



The important position on the Indian test side was left uncovered after Virat Kohli announced that he will no longer serve team India as the captain. He made his final test appearance as the skipper against South Africa and subsequently dropped his captaincy role to focus solely on his batting.

The BCCI has recently made a few tweaks to the original schedule for India vs Sri Lanka series. The first T20I will be held in Lucknow?s Ekana Cricket Stadium on 24th February and the last two T20Is will be held in Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) Stadium in Dharmshala.



The Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) Stadium in Mohali will welcome the two sides, India and Sri Lanka, for the test series. The first test will be played in Mohali, which apparently is going to be Virat Kohli?s 100th test match. The fixture was originally scheduled to be held in Bangalore, which is Kohli?s virtual home ground because of his 14-years long association with the IPL franchise based out of Bangalore.



However, now with a couple of tweaks in the plans, Mohali will host Virat Kohli?s 100th test appearance match.?The two sides will then head to Bangalore?s Chinnaswamy Stadium for the second and final test match.

New Schedule of India vs Sri Lanka T20Is and Test Series 2022: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has released a revised schedule for the forthcoming Sri Lanka tour of India 2022. The island nation is slated to visit India for two test matches and three T20Is.



Originally, India and Sri Lanka were scheduled to play test matches followed by the T20Is, but as per the revised schedule, the three games T20I series will be held first followed by the Test matches. The tour will get underway on February 24 in Lucknow?s Ekana Stadium.



The first T20I will be hosted by Lucknow while the next two will be held in Dharmshala, Himachal Pradesh.



The first of the two test matches series is fixed to be held in Mohali which is going to be Virat Kohli?s 100th test match. The match will get underway on March 4. The second test match will be staged in Bangaluru, starting March 12. The Bangalore test match will be the day and night test match between India and Sri Lanka.



Earlier, Virat Kohli?s 100th test appearance was planned to be held in Bangaluru, which is apparently his second home because of his 14 years long-standing association with the Royal Challengers Bangalore.?

The cricketer has sustained a hairline fracture in his hand while fielding in the third T20I against West Indies. After accessing the situation the medical team of the BCCI has declared Yadav unfit for the forthcoming three T20Is.



Suryakumar Yadav was in red hot form during the recently held India vs West Indies T20Is. He scored a total of 107 runs in three matches at a strike rate of 140.47. His innings in the third T20I was a highlight of his batting brilliance.&nbsp;



The cricketer smashed 65 runs from 31 deliveries at an alarming strike rate of 209. Yadav was adjudged as the Man of the Match for his brilliant strike of the bat against the West Indies.

As per the reports, Gaikwad complained of pain in his right wrist before the opening T20I following which he was rested from the playing11.



The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) have roped in seasoned opener batsman Mayank Agarwal as the replacement for Gaikwad.&nbsp;



The spokesperson of the Indian Cricket Board confirmed the development and said Ruturaj Gaikwad had some problems with his wrist and was in pain. The medical team of the BCCI is monitoring the cricketer.



?Ruturaj Gaikwad complained of pain in his right wrist, which is affecting his batting. He was unavailable for selection for the first T20I. The BCCI Medical Team is examining him,? said the spokesperson as quoted by Cricbuzz.



Another BCCI official said that the board was in complete control to send Mayank Agarwal as the replacement. Agarwal, who is named in India?s Test squad against Sri Lanka, was in Chandigarh, preparing for the red ball series with other Indian players.&nbsp;



The seasoned opener made a bubble to bubble transfer from Chandigarh to Dharmshala, where the final two T20Is will be staged.

He has been admitted as a precautionary measure and a CT scan is being conducted.&nbsp;



"I have been attached to the Indian team and I got information that an Indian player, who has sustained a head injury, has been brought here in the hospital. His CT scan was conducted and he has been under observation," said Dr. Shubham who has been handling the case. "A Sri Lankan player has also been admitted to the hospital, after receiving a thumb injury in the second T20I. We are monitoring everything right now," Dr. Shubham added referring to the case of Dinesh Chandimal. ?



<h2>India Beat Sri Lanka to Seal T20I series:&nbsp;</h2>



Coming to the game, India won the game after the heroics of Shreyas Iyer, Sanju Samson, and Ravindra Jadeja with the bat. Shreyas smoked 74 runs off 44 balls and remained not out. The final acceleration was provided by Ravindra Jadeja. He scored a lightning-fast 45 runs off 18 balls. India won the game with 2.5 overs to spare and with 7 wickets in hand. ?
