ICC T20 World Cup 2024 Format Revealed, World Cup 2024 to be held in different Format: The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Tuesday confirmed the format of the ICC Men?s T20 World Cup 2024 which is slated to be held jointly in the West Indies and the USA. The coveted tournament will have 20 teams in the first round which will be divided into four groups of five teams each.



Notably, the T20 World Cup in 2021 and 2022 was held with 16 teams in the first round followed by the Super12s. The top two ranked teams (of Group 1 and Group 2) in Super12s went ahead to play the semi-finals and eventually the winner of the semi-finals played out the final of the tournament.&nbsp;



But, in the upcoming event, two teams from each of the four groups will proceed to the Super Eight round. The teams will further be divided into two groups of four teams each and the top two sides of each group in Super8s will head to the semi-finals. The final will be held between the winners of semi-final 1 and 2 teams.

Interestingly 12 teams have already secured their place in the T20 World Cup 2024 with the USA and West Indies being the first ones to acquire a spot as they are the hosts of the tournament. The other 10 teams are - England, Pakistan, India, New Zealand, Australia, Sri Lanka, South Africa, Afghanistan, Bangladesh and the Netherlands.



The final eight teams will be filled after playing out the regional qualifiers in the coming months, said the ICC in a press release.



"While South Africa claimed 2024 qualification by virtue of their top eight finish, Zimbabwe were unable to capitalise on their strong start to the campaign, finishing last in the Super 12 group to be sent back to regional qualification," the ICC said in the release.

ICC T20 World Cup 2024: West Indies cricket team have announced their squad for the white-ball series against <a href="https://www.ecb.co.uk" data-type="URL" data-id="https://www.ecb.co.uk">England</a> that will take place in the Caribbean in December 2023. ICC to move T20 World Cup 2024 to England from West Indies &amp; USA: Reports: In the latest developments amid the anticipation for the ICC WTC Final, the International Cricket Council (ICC) is expected to move the T20 World Cup 2024 out of West Indies and the USA due to inadequate infrastructure in the latter country. Reportedly, the apex cricket body is mulling England as the replacement host for the T20 World Cup 2024.



As per the reports, the USA is racing against time to boost its cricketing infrastructure. The improper facilities in the country might push ICC to take the step of awarding hosting rights of the World Cup event to England.



Notably, England along with Scotland and Ireland are set to host the 2030 T20 World Cup, however, the ICC could ask to swap the hosting rights between Europe and West Indies &amp; the USA.



If ICC successfully manages to convince Europe, then the 2024 T20 World Cup will be held in England, Scotland and Ireland while the T20 World Cup of 2030 will be awarded to West Indies and the USA.



The ICC source informed that such a decision would allow the USA to upgrade and develop its cricketing infrastructure in a better-planned way, otherwise, it would be a rushed process.



?There is a situation at hand. The current infrastructure situation in the USA is not very encouraging and it is likely that the ICC could well swap the hosts for the 2024 and 2030 editions of the event. It will also allow USA Cricket to get the infrastructure in order before 2030 and allow them to set the house in order too,? a source in the know of things told?News18 CricketNext.



?Right now, it will be a rushed process to get the venues ready. England were already allotted the 2030 World Cup and they, unlike other nations, can host an event in June-July.?



Meanwhile, the former USA Cricket official also confirmed that the cricket stadiums in the country are not ready for the 2024 T20 World Cup and even if prepared in haste, the official doubted that it may fail to withstand the ICC's standards. He said, there are a number of checklists that ICC needs to review in order for the venue to make a cut.



"I can tell you that the ICC site visits which happened recently, many parks, free spaces with some green cover to be precise, were being explored to have a modular set-up in place for the World Cup. Modular stands and everything else also modular in nature. But it?s going to be one hell of a task to even pull that off and even if they do, not entirely sure whether it would meet ICC standards. There are a lot of ICC checklists for a venue and I highly doubt the modular or the makeshift venues will make the cut,? the former USA cricket official said.



The 2024 T20 World Cup will have a slight difference in the format. The tournament will have 20 teams fighting for the elusive trophy. 20 teams will be divided into four groups of five teams each. The initial round will be followed by the Super 8s, where two groups will be formed of four teams each. The top two teams of each group will make it to the knockout round.

As per a few reports, BCCI is keen on testing wicketkeeper batter Jitesh Sharma and Rinku Singh in the T20Is following their outstanding show in the recently completed Tata IPL 2023. While Jitesh Sharma played a key role in Punjab Kings' middle order with his brilliant strokeplay, Rinku Singh received applause for his magnificent temperament and ability to finish games.



Rinku Singh, playing for KKR, scored 474 runs at a strike rate of 149.52 in the Tata IPL 2023. On the other side, Jitesh Sharma mustered 309 runs in 14 innings at a strike rate 156.06 for PBKS.



The other probable IPL stars who are expected to be named in India's T20I squad, which will be led by Hardik Pandya, are CSK opener Ruturaj Gaikwad and Rajasthan Royals' left-handed Yashasvi Jaiswal.



Gaikwad remained second highest run scorer for his side with 590 runs at an average of 42.14. He played a number of memorable innings and more often than not took CSK to a flying start. The Indian captain explained the rationale behind BCCI's move to rest the senior players for the T20Is tours. He said the World Cup 2023 is on the priority list of team India and looking at that workload of certain players needed to be managed, which is why the senior players are being rested.



"At the moment I think it was made clear in the past that it's a 50-over World Cup year for us. And for some of the guys, it's not possible to play all formats. If you look at the schedule, there were back-to-back matches, so we decided to just look at some players' workloads that we wanted to make sure that they get enough break time and manage them. I definitely fall in that (category) as well," Rohit had told reporters in a press conference.

As per the reports in Danik Jagron, it is learned that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is not keen to have the batter in the squad for the upcoming tournament, slated to take place in June next year.

The South African tour for the India team will begin with a three-match T20I series. The games will be played from 10th December to 14th December. Following that IND vs SA ODI series will be played from 17th December to 21st December.?

It remains to be seen when will Pakistan announce the squad for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. The tournament is all set to take place from 19th February, with the final all set to be played on 9th March.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has issued a warning to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) over the jersey controversy ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. This comes after the Indian governing body refused to write 'Pakistan' on their kits for the tournament. 
The ICC Champions Trophy 2025, which is all set to be hosted by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), is scheduled to begin on 19th February. The preparations for the tournament are on, and the ICC and the PCB are taking every step possible to make sure that everything is right on track. 
However, a controversy recently erupted after BCCI refused to write Pakistan on their jersey for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. Notably, every participating nation, as per the ICC policy, has to write the name of the host nation below the logo of the tournament on their jersey. 
After BCCI refused to sport it, Pakistan Cricket Board officials made a strong statement, saying that BCCI is trying to use politics in every matter. He, however, mentioned that they are hopeful that ICC will support them and India will be asked to write the name of the jersey on their kits for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.

Following this, BCCI also reacted, and the insider from the governing body said that since they are playing in Dubai, it isn't mandatory for them to wear the 'Pakistan written jersey'. The BCCI also stressed that they didn't write Pakistan's name on the podium of the Trophy tours as well. 
Amid all this, ICC has come up with a strong response for the BCCI. An ICC official mentioned that it is the responsibility of the host nation to add the tournament logo to their jersey. He stated: 
"It is the responsibility of every team to add the tournament logo to their jerseys. All teams are obligated to comply with this rule," an ICC official said as per A-Sports, as quoted by NDTV. 
Not only this, it is learned that the ICC also warned BCCI that they would be taking strict action if they didn't wear the Pakistan-written jersey during the tournament.
