The 15-member squad of the Indian Cricket Team for the upcoming 2024 T20 World Cup will likely be named in the final week of April. The International Cricket Council (ICC) has set a deadline date of May 1st for the submission of squads for all the participating nations. The participating nations will be allowed to make changes to their squads until May 25th.



The 2024 T20 World Cup will kick off on June 2, and this year's mega event will be hosted by the USA and West Indies.



?India?s squad for the 2024 T20 World Cup will be selected in the final week of April, post the conclusion of the first half of the IPL, which gives the Indian Selection Committee the time to assess the fitness and form of the shortlisted players,? a senior source from BCCI told PTI.



?The first batch of the selected players will be leaving for the United States immediately after the conclusion of the league phase of the 2024 Tata IPL on May 19. The players of the teams that don't qualify for the playoffs will be leaving for the USA early, like it happened during the 2023 WTC final,? the BCCI source added.



Since the 2024 T20 World Cup is going to take place in the USA and West Indies, it's anticipated that some stand-by players will be given permission to travel with the selected squad, and in case of any injuries or last-minute pullouts, the stand-by players can replace those players on an immediate basis.



This time around, India's national selectors are traveling on a regular basis to watch the majority of the IPL matches in order to assess the form and fitness of the shortlisted players, unlike in previous World Cup editions, where the selectors used to travel to watch just a selected number of games and then watch the other games on television.

It's been learned that no instructions regarding workload management have been given to the 2024 World Cup contenders since this season's IPL is completely under the control of the IPL franchises.



?If any player holding a central contact of the BCCI or a shortlisted player ends up getting injured, then that player?s case will automatically be transferred to the medical team of the NCA,? the BCCI source said.



?Also for the contracted players and shortlisted players (India A and Emerging India), the S &amp; C physios and coaches need to stay in touch with the NCA. But, when the players are under the contract of the IPL franchises, BCCI cannot decide the number of matches the shortlisted players can play. In the case of the bowlers, they just have to bowl four overs,? the BCCI source added.

T20 World Cup 2024: The 17th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is in full flow, as the season has gotten off to a wonderful start as the ten IPL teams battle it out against each other to get their hands on the precious IPL Trophy. Former Indian pace bowling all-rounder Irfan Pathan, in an interview with ESPNcricinfo, picked the Men in Blue's likely squad for this year's mega event. In his squad, he mentioned the importance of Virat Kohli for the Indian squad and completely quashed the rumors of him getting dropped from the team in the shortest format of the game.



Alongside Rohit and Virat, the younger Pathan also included the likes of Shubman Gill, Suryakumar Yadav, Rinku Singh, and Yashasvi Jaiswal, and all these players will be expected to handle the Indian batting unit. Pathan also included Hardik Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja as the all-rounders but left out the likes of Shivam Dube, Axar Patel and Washington Sundar.



The most controversial topic for the squad of the Rohit Shamra led team is the position of the wicketkeeper, as no player has cemented his place as a wicketkeeper. Irfan wants to see the return of Rishabh Pant to the Men in Blue squad for the 2024 T20 World Cup and has also included Jitesh Sharma and KL Rahul as backups. He said that at least two of these players must board India's flight to the USA and West Indies for the 2024 T20 World Cup. He didn't find any space for the likes of Ishan Kishan, RR Captain Sanju Samson, and Dhruv Jurel in his predicted squad.

The 39-year-old took a straight forward decision to include the wrist-spin duo of Ravi Bishnoi and Kuldeep Yadav in his team, as the duo have been regularly featuring for the Men in Blue in the shortest format of the game since the end of the 2023 ODI World Cup. RR leggie Yuzvendra Chahal was not able to find a space in Irfan?s team. Yuzi has not featured in any game for India since August 2023.



Talking about the pace bowling department, the experienced duo of Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj made the cut in Irfan Pathan?s team. But, he made a surprise inclusion of LSG seamer Mohsin Khan as the third-pace bowler. The 39-year-old said that one of Mohsin or Arshdeep should get picked in India's squad for the 2024 T20 World Cup.

Jasprit Bumrah will be receiving the prestigious award because of his exceptional performance with the ball in 2024. He was Player of the Tournament in the T20 World Cup 2024, where he picked up 15 wickets, and also was the leading wicket-taker in Tests with 71 wickets to his name. 
Another holder of the major award will be India Women's cricketer Smriti Mandhana, who will be getting the BCCI's Women's Cricketer of the Year award. The opening batter was at her best with the bat as she mustered over 700 runs in ODIs in 2024 and was the leading run-getter for the team.

Former India wicket-keeper batter Dinesh Karthik is having a great time in the ongoing SA20 2025 for the Paarl Royals. The wicketkeeper batter played his best innings in the tournament on Thursday (30th January) against Joburg Super Kings at The Wanderers Stadium, in Johannesburg. 
Dinesh Karthik had a great outing with the bat for his team and helped his team post a fighting total on the board. The keeper-batter slammed a magnificent half-century and entertained the crowd both in South Africa as well as back home in India with his power-hitting. 
The highlight of Dinesh Karthik's innings was the three sixes that he hit on three balls against Wihan Lubbe in Paarl Royals' 13th over. He hit the first six on a free hit as he went down on the knees and hit a slog sweep into the deep mid-wicket stands for a massive six. 
On the next ball, Lubbe bowled a short ball, which Dinesh Karthik made full use of. He pulled the ball over deep square leg for his second consecutive six and put the spinner under pressure. Then on the next ball, the keeper-batter again was on his knees and played a slog sweep, which went over mid-wicket into the crowd.

Dinesh Karthik played a sensational innings of 53 runs off 39 balls. He batted with a strike rate of over 135 and also slammed 4 fours and 3 sixes in his innings. Thanks to his effort with the bat, Paarl Royals posted a fighting total of 150 runs on the board.

Sangwan made his List A debut on September 27, 2019, in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, followed by his T20 debut on November 8, 2019, in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. He is an Indian cricketer who has made a name for himself in domestic cricket with his impressive bowling. 
He idolizes Australian fast-bowling legend Glenn McGrath and credits him for refining his bowling skills, particularly in seam positioning, as he claims to have learned all by observing the former great.
