ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2023: The eighth edition of the ICC Women's T20 World Cup is scheduled to start on February 10. The women's tournament will be hosted by South Africa, the country which hosted the inaugural season of the U-19 Women's T20 World Cup. Sri Lanka and the tournament hosts South Africa will square off in the season opener.



The tournament's eighth season will take place in South Africa from February 10 to 26. Games will be staged in Gqeberha, formerly Port Elizabeth, Cape Town, and Paarl. The U19 women who made history by winning the first U19 Women's T20 World Cup in South Africa last week will definitely boost the senior Team India's confidence.

The defending champion is Australia, who has won the ICC Women's T20 World Cup five times. Australia defeated India by more than 80 runs in the tournament's final in the Women's T20 World Cup 2020. Once again, Australia are the obvious favorite to win their sixth championship this year.

Group 1 has seen a lot of alteration this week. After two back-to-back poor shows, New Zealand finally got some forward momentum by winning the next two matches with a healthy margin but still, they were left behind due to low NRR. Sri Lanka started well to the tournament with two consecutive wins but lost the winning mantra after two matches. Now South Africa will play the semifinal match against England.



India lost to England and Pakistan lost to West Indies. India to face Australia in Semifinal of Women's T20 World Cup 2023: India Women have qualified for the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2023 Semi-final and will face Australia on 23 February to reach the final. Harmanpreet and co have reached yet another semifinal by defeating Pakistan, West Indies, and Ireland in the group stages. This is India's third consecutive qualification for the T20 World cup semifinals following 2018's playoff and 2021's runner-up performances.

India qualified for the semi-finals by defeating Ireland by 5 runs (DLS) in a rain-shortened match, although it wasn't a particularly convincing victory because concerns about the batting unit still exist. The typically explosive Shafali Verma hasn't shown her true colors. She had 33 off 25 against Pakistan, 28 off 23 against West Indies, 8 off 11 against England, and lastly 24 off 29 against Ireland.

India lasted second in Group 2 on the points table and Australia stood in the top spot of Group 1 with 4 wins. Australia and India are most likely to meet in the semifinals. Meg Lanning's squad had already clinched a spot in Thursday's semi-final, where they will take on India who finished second in Group B.



England beat Pakistan by a handy margin and topped group B, which implies they will face South Africa in the second semifinal. India will face Australia in the <a href="https://www.t20worldcup.com/news/3075929" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">semifinal</a> 1.

As fans had anticipated before the match, India's victory was anything but straightforward. In reality, the difference was only 5 runs, therefore it could have also ended otherwise as well.



India's leading scorer, Smriti Mandhana, was dropped three times throughout her innings, and the left-hander made the Irish pay with her 87-run knock from 56 balls in the team's 155-run total. 19 runs off 12 were scored by Jemimah Rodrigues.



Sad to say, the majority of the other batters performed poorly. Both of Shafali Verma's and Harmanpreet Kaur's innings, which saw each player score 24 off of 29 and 13 off of 20, would have cost India the match. Before play was halted by rain and no further play was permitted, Ireland were 6 runs behind the DLS score and they lost it there.



Laura Delaney, the captain of Ireland, claimed three wickets, and Orla Prendergast claimed a pair. After losing two wickets in the opening over of the chase, Ireland launched a counterattack against the Indian spinners, hitting a 53* runs stand with the help of skipper Delany and opener Gaby Lewis. Rain interrupted the game just as they were getting aggressive, and the game never restarted.

Australia finished 1st and South Africa at 2nd in Group 1. Australia won all 4 matches in the group stage. The dream of winning the World Cup has been broken again as Team India lost to Australia in the semi-final match. The first semi-final match of the Women's T20 World Cup took place today between India and Australia at the Newlands Stadium in South Africa, in which India lost by 5 runs. The Australian team reached the semifinals by winning all four of its games in Group 1, while the Indian team advanced by winning three of its four games in Group 2. The Indian team won against Pakistan, the West Indies, and Ireland but lost to England. But the sad news for Indian fans is that the journey of the Indian team ended in the semi-finals today.



<h2>Match Highlight</h2>



Australian captain Meg Lanning decided to bat first winning the toss. The Australian team scored a total of 172 runs in 20 overs. Australian opener Beth Mooney top-scored with 54 while skipper Meg Lanning scored 49. The bowling of the Indian women's team was simple, Shikha Pandey took 2 wickets for 32 runs in 4 overs from India. The same Radha Yadav and Deepti Sharma got one wicket each. 



India needed 173 runs in 20 overs for a ticket to the final, but the team had to face defeat by 5 runs. The Indian top batting order did not perform well; opener Shafali Verma scored 9 runs while her fellow opener Smriti Mandhana could score only 2 runs. Harmanpreet Kaur, the Indian team's captain, scored the most runs (52). She scored 52 runs in 34 balls with the help of six fours and a six. The same Jemimah Rodrigues scored 43 runs in 24 balls with the help of six fours.

ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2024: the ICC have announced the schedule for the Women's T20 main event which is set to be played on October 2024. Sitting in Group A, India will play their first match against New Zealand on 4 October.

Bangladesh got an opportunity to host the Women's T20 World Cup and that is a big moment and achievement for Women's Cricket in Bangladesh. The Women's T20 World Cup fixture launch event took place at Dhaka, Bangladesh which was attended by Bangladeshi PM Sheikh Hasina and President of BCB(W) Mr. Nazmul Hassan Geoff Allardice, ICC CEO?alongside the skipper Harmanpreet Kaur and Nigar Sultana.



India Women are currently on a tour of Bangladesh for a T20I series where India are dominating over the home side in the 5-match T20I series with a 0-3 scoreline.

The Women's ICC T20 event will kick start on 3 October with England Women taking on South Africa Women. The tournament will run for a total of 18 days where the top 10 teams will play as many as 23 games to decide the Women's T20 World Champion.

Initially, Bangladesh were about to host the Women's T20 World Cup. The iconic Shere Bangla National Stadium and Sylhet International Stadium were the two stadiums that the Bangladesh Cricket Board offered for the tournament.

India Women began their campaign with a disappointing loss against the New Zealand women, who also made history with a win over India Women after years in the World Cup. However, they advanced into commanding form as they earned a great win over arch-rivals Pakistan and were followed by another dominating win over Sri Lanka women, the Asia Cup champions. The win over the Lankan women gave them the higher net run rate over New Zealand, which in turn handed them the second spot in the points table. With Lankan women out of contention for the semis having not won a single match, Pakistan women largely depend on two other teams in India and New Zealand women to return into contention. After New Zealand?s latest win over Sri Lanka, there has been immense clarity on what intent either team shares upon qualification, as both India and New Zealand are looking to increase their run rate. The Aussies are way ahead in run rate, and even if they lose their final match, they stay on top of the table and will advance to the playoffs; hence, the competition for another spot lies between India and New Zealand. IND vs ENG: Former Indian cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin has announced his playing XI for the first T20I against England. The match between the two teams is all set to take place on Wednesday (22nd January) at the iconic Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
India and England will be locking horns with each other in the five-match T20I series. Both teams have a mixed combination of seniors and youngsters in the team, and with the way they have played of late, it's fair to say that it will be an exciting series to watch. 
Coming to the first T20I, Ravichandran Ashwin backed Sanju Samson and Abhishek Sharma to open the innings for the team. The duo has been doing a decent job together as an opener and would be hoping to carry on the same form in the upcoming first match.

Former Pakistan cricketer Basit Ali talked about the delay in the squad of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 for the Pakistan team. He said that it might look like they are scared of announcing the team, but it seems that they don't know what to do. 
The ICC Champions Trophy 2025 is around the corner and all the teams have named their squad for the tournament except the hosts Pakistan. The Men in Green are yet to announce the team even though the deadline of 12th January has already been surpassed by a long margin. 
India, Australia, England, South Africa, New Zealand, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan have all revealed their squad for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. This has made many speculate about why Pakistan isn't announcing their squad for the tournament, which is less than one month away. 
There have been several reports that Pakistan will be announcing their squad for the tournament soon. They are awaiting the fitness of a few players, and hence, they will soon be naming the team. Some reports also have revealed the players who will be playing, but an official announcement is yet to come.

No, it isn't, just unsure what to do and what not). The biggest issue is whether Saim Ayub can return fit or not. It's still not clear." 
It remains to be seen when will Pakistan announce the squad for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. The tournament is all set to take place from 19th February, with the final all set to be played on 9th March.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has issued a warning to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) over the jersey controversy ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. This comes after the Indian governing body refused to write 'Pakistan' on their kits for the tournament. 
The ICC Champions Trophy 2025, which is all set to be hosted by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), is scheduled to begin on 19th February. The preparations for the tournament are on, and the ICC and the PCB are taking every step possible to make sure that everything is right on track. 
However, a controversy recently erupted after BCCI refused to write Pakistan on their jersey for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. Notably, every participating nation, as per the ICC policy, has to write the name of the host nation below the logo of the tournament on their jersey. 
After BCCI refused to sport it, Pakistan Cricket Board officials made a strong statement, saying that BCCI is trying to use politics in every matter. He, however, mentioned that they are hopeful that ICC will support them and India will be asked to write the name of the jersey on their kits for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.

Following this, BCCI also reacted, and the insider from the governing body said that since they are playing in Dubai, it isn't mandatory for them to wear the 'Pakistan written jersey'. The BCCI also stressed that they didn't write Pakistan's name on the podium of the Trophy tours as well. 
Amid all this, ICC has come up with a strong response for the BCCI. An ICC official mentioned that it is the responsibility of the host nation to add the tournament logo to their jersey. He stated: 
"It is the responsibility of every team to add the tournament logo to their jerseys. All teams are obligated to comply with this rule," an ICC official said as per A-Sports, as quoted by NDTV. 
Not only this, it is learned that the ICC also warned BCCI that they would be taking strict action if they didn't wear the Pakistan-written jersey during the tournament.
