WIPL 2023 Teams Announced - Women's Premier League: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Wednesday (25th January 2023) announced the winners of bidding held for the franchise acquisition of the brand new Women's Premier League. The cricket board revealed five franchises and their respective successful bidders along with the bidding amount.



The BCCI confirmed the development through a social media post. "BCCI announce successful bidders for Women's Premier League. The combined bid valuation is INR 4669.99 Cr A look at the Five franchises with ownership rights for #WPL," wrote BCCI in a tweet.

Renowned business tycoon Adani group made the highest bid by shelling out a whopping INR 1289 Crores to acquire the rights of the Ahmedabad-based WPL franchise. The Adani's were followed by Indiawin Sports Private Limited, who paid INR 912.99 Crores and were awarded a Mumbai-based team. 



Royal Challengers Sports Private Limited were awarded the Bangaluru-based team after they placed a bid of INR 901 Crores. Meanwhile, the other two successful bidders are - JSW GMR Cricket Private Limited - Delhi (INR 810 Crores) and Capri Global Holding Private Limited - Lucknow (INR 757 Crores).



The BCCI is set to have a massive windfall of INR 4669.99 Crores owing to the successful bids registered for the Women's Premier League.

Earlier, Viacom18 bagged the media rights of the Women's Premier League (WPL) for the five-year cycle, confirmed the <a href="https://www.bcci.tv/articles/2023/news/55555976/bcci-announces-the-successful-bidder-for-acquiring-the-media-rights-for-the-women-s-indian-premier-league-wipl-seasons-2023-2027?type=Latest">BCCI</a>. The winning amount for the media rights was INR 951 Crores which makes up a value of INR 7.09 Crores per match for the 2023-2027 period.

Five Indian cities will now have their WPL franchise, one of which is with Bengaluru and Virat Kohli, who plays for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) is "thrilled" by the win of his T20 franchise.

Royal Challengers Bangalore Sports Private Limited is among the five entities that have been awarded the WPL franchises. RCB shelled out INR 901 Crores, the third highest bid, to win the Bangaluru-based WPL franchise.

Meanwhile, esteemed businessman Gautam Adani's sports wing Adani Sportsline Private Limited made the biggest bid of the auction as it splurged INR 1289 Crore to bag the Ahmedabad-based Women's Premier League (WPL) franchise. Interestingly, the Adani Group had narrowly missed out on the Ahmedabad-based franchise in the Indian Premier League (IPL), sometime back.



The other three entities are Indiawin Sports Private Limited, a sports wing of Mukesh Ambani, spend INR 912.99 Crores to get the Mumbai-based WPL franchise. JSW GMR Cricket Private Limited (Delhi Capitals) paid a sum of INR 810 Crores for Delhi based franchise and Capri Global Holdings Private Limited will have the Lucknow-based WPL team after it spent INR 757 Crores.

Notably, the media rights of the WPL were earlier sold to Viacom18 by the BCCI for INR 951 Crores in a five-year contract. The deal will fetch BCCI INR 7.09 Crores per match during the period of 2023-2027.

WPL Auction 2023: The Board of Cricket Council of India (BCCI) has got us some announcements regarding the WPL Auction. The Women's Premier League Player Auction list has been released, with a total of 409 cricketers slated to go under the hammer on February 13, 2023, at the Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai. For the first Women's Premier League Player Auction, 1525 players registered in total, but only 409 made the cut.



According to a statement released by the BCCI on Tuesday, the Women's Premier League will have its debut season in Mumbai from March 4 to 26. The Brabourne Stadium and the DY Patil Stadium will serve as the venues for a total of 22 matches in this high-profile competition.



According to a media advisory released by the BCCI, out of the 409 players, 246 are Indians, 163 are overseas, and eight are from associate countries. There are 202 total capped players, 199 total uncapped players, and 8 players from associate nations. A maximum of 90 slots are available for five teams, with 30 slots reserved for overseas players.

The maximum reserve price for an auction participant has been fixed at Rs. 50 lakhs. There are 24 players who have declared themselves for the top bracket. WPL 2023: Schedule, Full Squads, Teams and Captains, Fixture, Timing, Venues, broadcasting and Telecasting, and all you need to know: The highly anticipated Women's Premier League (<a href="https://twitter.com/wplt20" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">WPL</a>) 2023 season is going to begin from March 4 to March 26 in Mumbai. Gujarat Giants under Beth Mooney and Mumbai Indians under Harmanpreet Kaur will square off in the season opener of the WPL 2023. The match is scheduled to begin at 7.30 PM on March 4 at the DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai.



The women's IPL 2023 will have the "TATA group", the IPL's title sponsor, as its official sponsor. March 26 will see the final of the WPL 2023. Twenty league games and two playoff games altogether will be played during the event. The inaugural WPL season will feature five sides in total. Earlier in the previous month, five teams spent a sizable sum of money to sign some of the top players from the domestic and international circuits.

The reports added that India team management is happy with the net session ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. This is because they will be playing the three-match ODI series against England, which will begin on 6th February across three venues in India. 
Apart from this, it is reported that the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 won't be having a captain photoshoot because of the different challenges along with the different arrivals of the team. This means that Rohit Sharma won't be travelling to Pakistan for this and will be staying in Dubai with the team.

Pakistan batter Babar Azam has been in the news for the last few days, especially with the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 around the corner. The batter's name has been discussed a lot related to making him open, especially with no clarity over Saim Ayub. 
Pakistan is the only team that has yet to announce the squad for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. Since the last few days, he has been in the news as there have been a lot of reports that have suggested that there are chances that he might open the innings for the team.

The batter has mustered truckloads of runs for the team in the format while batting at No.3 and he will be extremely crucial for his team in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, which will be played in Pakistan with India games to be played in India. 
Babar Azam also has been a decent opener as well. He has been opening for the team in T20Is and has achieved massive success as well. He also opened in Test cricket during the recent South Africa series and aced that challenge as well, slamming two half-centuries in two innings. 
But, in white-ball cricket, Babar Azam has been criticised a lot for opening in T20Is. This is because he has failed to maximise the powerplay and has been batting with a low strike rate. It remains to be seen where he will be batting for the team in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.

India assistant coach Ryan Ten Doeschate has provided a massive fitness update about batter Rinku Singh ahead of the fourth IND vs ENG T20I. He mentioned that the left-hander has gained full fitness and will be playing the next match of the five-match T20I series. 
India and England are all set to lock horns with each other in the fourth match of the T20I series. The game is all set to be played at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune on Thursday (30th January). The series is currently at 2-1, with hosts in the lead. 
India has been without the services of Rinku Singh for the last two games of the IND vs ENG series. The left-hander sustained a low back spasm while fielding in the first game and was then ruled out of the next two games of the series as he was under the observation of the BCCI medical team. 
In his place, the India team added Dhruv Jurel to the XI, and the move didn't pay off. The keeper-batter batted lower down the order and struggled to get going in both games, and it potentially cost them the last match of the series.

However, in what will be a massive boost, Rinku Singh has been declared fit for the next two games. The development was confirmed by assistant coach Ryan Ten Doeschate, who said that the batter hit nets and will be playing. He told reporters. 
"Rinku Singh is fit and ready to play tomorrow. He batted yesterday night" 
Rinku Singh has been India's one of the best batters in the T20Is. His absence was felt in the last two games as well, but now, with him being fit, it is expected that he would walk straight into the XI and is likely to add Dhruv Jurel to the team. 
The fourth IND vs ENG T20I will be a great opportunity for India to to seal the series, but they need to make some corrections before heading into the next IND vs ENG match. 
India faced a disappointing 26-run loss in the last match at Rajkot. Their batting was one of the main reasons behind the loss and they would be hoping to make a strong comeback.
