The TATA IPL 2022 season has come to a closure. We only have two games left in store for us. The tournament made sure that the cricket community gets the excitement of a lifetime. Credits to the BCCI for organizing the tournament under such nonideal circumstances. The goal of the tournament is to promote young talent and give them an opportunity. Indians have specifically improved in this section. So, here’s a look at the top 5 Indian bowlers of the tournament. Here I am not considering the number of wickets but the impact of the player:
**Jasprit Bumrah and Bhuvneshwar Kumar haven’t been considered as it is pretty much sure that they have dominated the IPL every season. They are in a league of their own. **
1) Mohammed Shami:
Mohammed Shami has been very impressive this season. He is the leader of the pack for the Gujarat Titans. There were games throughout the season where Mohammed Shami decided the fate of the game in the very first over. Every aspiring bowler has always been fond of the seam position that Mohammed manages to keep while bowling. His rhythm is something that makes sure his line and length remain consistent. After having a poor ICC T20 World Cup 2021, he was dropped from the national team. His current performances however make a very strong case for him. He also brings along with him a truck-load of experience. His stats for IPL 2022 are as follows:
Statistic | Value |
Matches | 15 |
Wickets | 19 |
Economy | 7.98 |
Overs Bowled | 57 |
Average | 23.95 |
2) Mohsin Khan has impressed in TATA IPL 2022:
When we talk about Indian left-arm pacers, we generally speak of Zaheer Khan and Ashish Nehra. In recent times India has tried T Natarajan and Khaleel Ahmed but the arrival of Mohsin Khan has given us a lot of hope. The tall bowler from Uttar Pradesh was associated with the Mumbai Indians for many seasons and last year moved to the Lucknow Super Giants. Ever since he got an opportunity, he has been very impressive. He has been clocking 140-145 kmph consistently. He also has a bag full of variations which makes him a complete T20 bowler. With the Indian team constantly looking for a good left-arm pacer, Mohsin can bring that added dimension. Here is a look at his stats from IPL 2022:
Statistic | Value |
Matches | 9 |
Wickets | 14 |
Economy | 5.97 |
Overs Bowled | 33 |
Average | 14.07 |
3) Arshdeep Singh has been impressive for the Punjab Kings in TATA IPL 2022:
Arshdeep Singh, the “Slim-Sardar” from the Punjab Kings has won a lot of hearts. He was the bowler to bowl the greatest number of yorkers this season. He bowled more yorkers than Jasprit Bumrah, Kagiso Rabada, and T Natarajan. This speaks volumes of the talent that this young man has. Arshdeep didn’t rise in the tally of wickets but has had an economy of below 7 in the death overs. His pace is hovering around 135 which looks decent concerning the international standard. His top variations are the slower ball, the slower-one yorker, the wide yorker which is bowled outside off stump, and the cutter. If we talk about value for money, the Punjab Kings made a steal when they retained him for 4 Crores as an uncapped player. Here is a look at his stats for IPL 2022:
Statistic | Value |
Matches | 14 |
Wickets | 10 |
Economy | 7.7 |
Overs Bowled | 50 |
Average | 38.5 |
4) Yuzvendra Chahal played for Rajasthan Royals in TATA IPL 2022:
Yuzvendra Chahal has made a strong case for himself to become the highest wicket-taker in the IPL. Every season Chahal walks in and takes 20+ wickets like it’s a cakewalk. He may come in front of the camera as a hilarious character but this mastermind is a true wizard. He is very thoughtful. He is a thinking bowler. What works well for him is his daring nature. He is not afraid of flighting the ball. He isn’t scared of going for runs as his skipper has given him that assurance. With every performance of his, he is making sure that the selectors regret not picking him for the national team at the ICC T20 World Cup 2021. He along with Ravichandran Ashwin carried the convoy of the Rajasthan bowling. Here is a look at his stats for IPL 2022:
Statistic | Value |
Matches | 15 |
Wickets | 26 |
Economy | 7.7 |
Overs Bowled | 60 |
Average | 17.77 |
Honorable Mention:
- 1) Harshal Patel.
- 2) Umesh Yadav.
- 3) Umran Malik.
5) Kuldeep Yadav:
If any player has made a very strong comeback to the cricketing circuit this IPL, it is Kuldeep Yadav. The kind of backing that Rishabh Pant has given him. The “chinaman’ has made sure that Kolkata Knight Riders regret not retaining him. In the two games that Kuldeep played against KKR, he bagged 8 wickets. Now that’s sweet revenge, isn’t it? Kuldeep is similar to Chahal. Even he isn’t afraid to give the ball some air. He wants the ball to hit the deck as softly as possible so that he can get a maximum turn. A wise man once quote, “Form is temporary and class is permanent.” This has been the exact case with Kuldeep. His current form makes him a good contender for the ICC T20 World Cup 2022. Here is a look at his stats for IPL 2022:
Statistic | Value |
Matches | 14 |
Wickets | 21 |
Economy | 8.44 |
Overs Bowled | 49.4 |
Average | 19.95 |
