The TATA IPL is a budding ground for domestic Indian players. With every team requiring 7 Indian players, irrespective of any format, Indian domestic players are bound to get a big chance. With the kind of talent that India has, something like the IPL is a blessing in disguise. Players from the nook and corner of the nation showcase their skills. All the IPL teams have now established a scouting process to get the best of talents to the grandest stage. Here is a look at the top Indian players found by the TATA IPL 2022:
10) Ambati Rayudu was Discovered in TATA IPL:
It is odd to see Ambati Rayudu on this list, isn’t it? But his mention on this list is required. Ambati Rayudu was backed by the BCCI from the very beginning. He was an integral part of the U-19 and other age-group teams of India. But during the 2008 and 2009 seasons, he opted to play for the ICL. The ICL was a league produced by Zee TV networks. Ambati played there because they offered bigger payments. But once that league collapsed, the BCCI welcomed all the ICL players to the IPL with open arms. Ambati played for MI from 2010 to 2017. He got his national cap in 2013.
9) Shreyas Iyer:
Shreyas Iyer and his hustle began in the IPL in 2015. He back then, played as an opener for the Delhi Daredevils. Iyer was a local boy, playing games at the Azad Maidan in Mumbai. He was only known in the U-19 and age-group cricket circuit. Shreyas Iyer eventually won the “Emerging Player of the Season” award. Iyer then went on to captain the Delhi Capitals for two successful seasons. He took them to the knockout stage every time. Shreyas is now an integral part of the Indian team. He is a top-choice middle-order batter.
8) T Natarajan:
T Natarajan was playing night games for 300 rupees a night before playing the TNPL and eventually getting a chance in the IPL. These local tournaments such as the TNPL have given us many good talents. Natarajan is one such Personna. He had a dream 2020 season. He debuted in all three formats in the iconic Indian tour of Australia. Natarajan was a part of the most amazing and memorable Gabba test match. If not for his injuries, Natarajan was certainly going to be a part of the Indian Team for the ICC T20 World Cup 2021.
7) Venkatesh Iyer was first Discovered in TATA IPL:
From filling the form for his MBA and rejecting a job offer at Delloite, to playing for India, Venkatesh Iyer has come a very long way. This breakthrough performer was a part of the KKR team in IPL 2021. Venky played only half the season and scored 300+ runs. The national selectors were very impressed. The management fast-tracked Venky to the national team. He made his debut in T20Is against New Zealand. In the absence of Hardik Pandya, Venkatesh Iyer has made a strong case for himself.
6) Deepak Chahar:
Deepak Chahar, the guy from the Rajasthan has come to the foregrounds of the IPL. Deepak Chahar has been groomed by the master himself, Thala Dhoni. Chahar has been playing under Dhoni since 2016. First Chahar was roped-in by the Rising Pune Super Giants and he eventually ended up at the CSK pavilion. Chahar holds the world record for the best figures in a T20I. One cannot think of a better bowler in the powerplay overs. He is said to be the heir of Bhuvneshwar Kumar with the kin of swing he gets.
5) Mohammad Siraj was First Discovered in TATA IPL:
Miyan Magic! A phenomenon that has struck Indian cricket. This Hyderabadi is a very dynamic and impressive individual. Siraj has become a very different bowler after the 2020 Border-Gavaskar series. One doesn’t forget his dream spell against Australia at the Gabba! His performance at the Mecca of Cricket is also noteworthy. When Siraj bowls he keeps you at the edge of your seat. “He can create magic with the red ball”, as stated by ABD! From getting trolled to the extent of “Chal jaake Auto Chala!” to winning hearts at the Lords Test Match Siraj has lived a journey of his own.
4) Yuzvendra Chahal:
Yuzvendra Chahal, the spin-wizard from Haryana is another prospect given by the IPL. Chahal was scouted by the Mumbai Indians. The MI team first bought him to the grandest stage. Under Rohit Sharma’s captaincy, Yuzi made his MI debut. Later, Yuzi became an RCB legend! Yuzi is so daring that he attacks the batter at the Chinnaswami Stadium, a stadium that is a graveyard for bowlers! He bowls with a mentality, “At the max, the batter can hit me for 6 sixes, but if I don’t attack, I miss my chance of getting him out!”. Yuzi is now the most successful Indian bowler in T20Is.
3) Hardik Pandya was First Discovred in TATA IPL:
If the IPL has generated any superstar, it is Hardik Pandya! Hardik is a sensation, on and off the field. Pandya knows how to carry himself and how influential he is. Apart from his off-field antiques, his on-field gems can never be forgotten. His 100 against Sri Lanka in Tests, his 90 in SA, his 3 sixes against Shadab Khan, Todd Astle, and the 28-run over against Ashok Dinda are always cherished. He was playing night games and Syed Mushtaq Ali games for Baroda before John Wright and Robin Singh picked him for the Mumbai Indians.
2) Rishabh Pant:
Rishabh Rajendra Pant is a name that has tried to fill in the big shoes of an even bigger name, “Mahendra Singh Dhoni”. Not every batter has scored a hundred in England, SA, and Australia, and Rishabh has done that at the age of 24 itself! His innings of 97 against the Gujarat Lions and his 128* against the Sunrisers show his potential. Pant reverse swept Jofra Archer and Jimmy Anderson for sixes, now this speaks volumes of his character. When Rishabh bats, one may either see two things, Rishabh getting out or him dominating. But his batting assures entertainment. His innings in 2019 against Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede will never be forgotten.
1) Jasprit Bumrah was First Discovered in TATA IPL:
The best bowler of India currently is also a gift from the IPL. From playing Syed Mushtaq Ali games for the Gujarat state team to playing for the Indian national team, Jasprit Bumrah has come a long way. Bumrah has also been scouted by John Wright. The contribution of John Wright to Indian cricket is immense and this is just a small portrayal of it. In his first IPL game, Bumrah picked 3 wickets! It was of Kohli, Karun Nair, and Mayank Agarwal. 2013 season was the first season in which Boom, played for MI. Since then, Jasprit has become the face of the franchise.
