The TATA IPL 2023 is nearing by the minute. And the list of injured players who may miss out on TATA IPL 2023 is also increasing. Shreyas Iyer is the latest addition to the list. He is likely to miss out on the initial phase of the TATA IPL 2023. He complained of lower back pain on the 4th day of the 4th Test in the Border Gavaskar Trophy. This is the 3rd instance of a player complaining of recurring injuries after rehab. The BCCI is now furious with the NCA officials who have been given fitness clearance. Shreyas Iyer Possibly Ruled out of TATA IPL 2023:
Shreyas Iyer complained of lower back pain during the 4th Test match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2023. He was further sent for scans. The scan reports are not very positive and it is expected that Iyer will miss the initial phase of the TATA IPL. Iyer was ruled out of the India VS Sri Lanka ODI series too. He missed out on the first test of the Border Gavaskar Series.
Iyer is not the only player to have had recurring injuries. The same is the case with Prasidh Krishna, Sanju Samson, and Jasprit Bumrah. The BCCI is reportedly losing faith in the Nitin Patel-led NCA medical team. There is a hint that there is an overhaul change in the BCCI Sports Science team and this might just be the right reason for the same.
BCCI Official Says, “It’s Frustrating”:
“It’s frustrating for sure. And it’s not the first time that a player has recurrence of an injury. We should have learned from Bumrah but we did not. Shreyas should have been eased into the team and not rushed to play grinding Test cricket. Hopefully, he will be fit for the ODI series. But it’s difficult to say anything at this point. He had scans and is currently under the medical team’s observation,”, a BCCI official said in a statement to a renowned media house.
