IPL Points Table 2025: The Thursday night clash of the TATA IPL 2025 saw Mumbai Indians (MI) take on Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the iconic Wankhede Stadium. MI, led by a strong all-round display, clinched a 4-wicket win in a hard-fought game, keeping their playoff hopes alive while pushing SRH further down the points table.
Batting first on a slightly sticky surface after losing the toss, Sunrisers Hyderabad had a difficult time building momentum. Despite an explosive 21-run 18th over and another 22 off the final over, they could only post 162 on the board. Travis Head (28 off 29) looked out of sorts, while Abhishek Sharma (40) provided some early spark.
Klaasen and Nitish Reddy added some useful late-order runs, but the SRH innings was mostly subdued, largely due to the two-paced nature of the pitch that assisted slower balls and spinners.
Mumbai Indians’ chase had its own hiccups, but never spiraled out of control. Rohit Sharma began with a flourish before departing early, and contributions from Rickelton, SKY, and a composed knock by Will Jacks kept MI in the hunt.
Hardik Pandya chipped in with a quick cameo that helped MI level the scores before they completed the chase in the 19th over. Despite losing a few wickets and burning some reviews, MI looked like the more polished and balanced unit throughout.
With this win, Mumbai Indians now move up to 7th on the points table with 6 points from 7 games, overtaking SRH who now drop to 9th, also with 6 points but a worse net run rate. The pressure continues to mount on Pat Cummins and Co., who are yet to register a win in away fixtures this season. Having lost three consecutive matches on the road, SRH's campaign is quickly veering off track, while MI seem to be finally finding some rhythm.
