TATA IPL Points Table 2025 After SRH Defeated RCB on 24 May
In a crucial IPL 2025 clash held on May 24 at Lucknow, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) stunned Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) with a commanding 42-run victory. This result not only dented RCB’s momentum heading into the playoffs but also caused a shift in the top four rankings due to changes in Net Run Rate (NRR).
Put into bat first, SRH made the most of a batting-friendly surface. Ishan Kishan roared back to form with a match-defining unbeaten 94 off 48 deliveries. Abhishek Sharma’s quickfire 34, Klaasen’s fluent 24, and Aniket Verma’s blistering 26 off just 9 balls added to the carnage.
Despite a brief RCB fightback led by Romario Shepherd, SRH posted a massive 231/5 — one of the highest totals this season. In response, RCB started strong with Kohli and Salt attacking early, and Jitesh Sharma kept the chase alive in the middle overs.
But the turning point came in the 15th over, when Nitish Kumar Reddy and Eshan Malinga orchestrated a dramatic collapse. RCB crumbled from a dominant position, losing seven wickets for just 16 runs and were bowled out far short of the target.
The aftermath of this defeat saw significant movement in the points table. While both RCB and Punjab Kings remain tied at 17 points, RCB's Net Run Rate suffered, pushing them below Punjab.
Gujarat Titans stayed on top with 18 points and a healthy NRR, while Mumbai Indians remained fourth despite having a better NRR than both RCB and Punjab. SRH, already out of playoff contention, moved up to eighth place with 11 points, leapfrogging the Rajasthan Royals.
