TATA IPL Points Table: KL Rahul-spearheaded Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) brings up their maiden away win in the TATA IPL 2024 after they thrashed Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium by 28 runs. Bolstered by the win, LSG takes a big leap in the IPL Points Table.
Young pacer Mayank Yadav once again makes an immediate impact with his presence to take his side home against RCB. He helped dismiss RCB skipper Faf du Plessis cheaply before getting Glenn Maxwell for a duck in the same over. The speedster went on to pick up the wicket of Cameron Green in his next over.
In the high chase of 180 runs on a two-paced surface, RCB were reduced to 58 runs in the loss of 4 wickets in the first half of their innings. Virat Kohli did try to add some runs to the tally, but he was earlier dismissed by M Siddharth in the powerplay.
Anuj Rawat and Rajat Patidar stitched a small partnership to bring RCB’s innings back on track, but Marcus Stoinis removed the former batter and the latter was soon picked by Mayank Yadav.
Mahipal Lomror held his nerves for a bit and did the damage control, however, he was short on partners at the other, who could help him out. The scoreboard pressure kept building and Lomror had to take his chances, doing which he perished after scoring a brilliant 13-ball 33.
Eventually before getting bowled out, RCB could amass 153 runs in 19.4 overs.
Earlier in the game, Lucknow posted a massive 180-run target for RCB. Opener Quinton de Kock remained the chief architect with his magnificent 81-run innings in 56 deliveries. He was aided by his mates at the other end, who played handy knocks. To finish things off in style, Nicholas Pooran added 40 runs in just 21 deliveries, with the help of a solitary boundary and five sixes.
