MI’s opening match failure campaign continues as RCB beat MI by 8 overs. Punjab Kings also started the season with a win. Lucknow upset Delhi in Match No. 3. The defending champions Gujarat Giants started the season right from where they ended the last season. Victory in the very first match! Whereas, it was not a happy start for CSK as well as CSK fans as they lost the opening match yet another time.
Punjab Kings, in the second match, beat Kolkata Knight Riders by 7 runs as per the DLS method. The rain interrupted the play after 16 overs when Kolkata were 7 runs behind the DLS par score.
Lucknow Super Giants won the first home match defeating Delhi Capitals by 50 runs and lost their 2nd match against Chennai in Chepauk stadium. Similarly, RR also won the first away match, beating SRH by 72 runs. With this win, RR is currently at the top of IPL Points Table 2023.
The IPL will finally be played on a home-and-away basis after three seasons, with 12 venues hosting the 70 league matches this season. The 16th season of the Indian T20 league will have 10 teams in action.
We saw the newly introduced ‘impact player’ feature and the impact that additional player can bring to the table. Tushar Deshpande of CSK was named the first impact player in the IPL 2023 and he was the replacement for Ambati Rayudu. Sai Sudharsan was the impact player from Gujarat who replaced the injured Kane Williamson.
