Rishabh Pant to play for CSK in the Indian Premier League (IPL): With MS Dhoni approaching fag end of his cricketing career, Chennai Super Kings (CSK’s) hunt to find a suitable replacement wicketkeeper batter will begin shortly after the Tata IPL 2024. The upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) could be the last dance for the decorated captain.
With CSK getting into the quest to find an apt replacement player for MS Dhoni, their search might end with Rishabh Pant’s comeback, reckons former Indian cricketer Deepdas Gupta.
The renowned cricket analyst recently in an interview highlighted the fact that there is a possibility for Rishabh Pant to undergo a change of jerseys in the IPL. The flamboyant wicketkeeper batter could find a new home in CSK in the IPL 2025.
It’s noteworthy that Rishabh Pant has been associated with Delhi Daredevils, now Delhi Capitals (DC), since the IPL 2016. Pant’s services were bagged by Delhi during the IPL 2016 auction for a whopping sum of INR 1.9 Crores. In the subsequent editions, he was retained by the same franchise.
Interestingly, in IPL 2021, Rishabh Pant was appointed Delhi’s captain after regular skipper Shreyas Iyer was ruled out of the tournament and since then the franchise has never turned its back on him.
As of now, ahead of the IPL 2024 Auction, Delhi has retained Rishabh Pant, despite knowing that there is no confirmation on his comeback.
Rishabh Pant to CSK in IPL 2025, says Deepdas Gupta
“Don’t be surprised if they get Rishabh Pant by IPL 2025. MS Dhoni and Rishabh Pant are very close. Obviously, Rishabh adores MS, and MS also likes him very much. They spend a lot of time together. Their connection and Rishabh’s thinking are very similar, considering he is very attacking and positive. He’s always talking about winning and whatnot,” reckons Deepdas Gupta.
Rishabh’s cricketing career has been put in jeopardy after he met with a life-threatening accident. He miraculously escaped anything major threat to his life after his speeding car rammed into the divider on the eve of the new year 2023.
He had to undergo multiple surgeries and is now on his path to recovery. As of now nothing substantial has come out as far as his cricketing comeback is concerned, though, a few reports claimed that Pant would possibly make his comeback in the next IPL.
