Batting first, RCB lost their skipper Faf in the second over of the innings. Virat and Cameron Green started to get some rhythm and after Green, Maxwell joined Virat to maintain a 10-run-per-over rate. There were some compromises as RCB lost Rajat Patidar and Anuj Rawat just at starting of the death overs but the Duo of Virat and Karthik added as many as 29 runs in the last two overs leading RCB to 182. Kohli remained not out with 83 runs in his kitty off 57 balls.
Gautam Gambhir, who won two titles for KKR, is back in their dressing room in IPL 2024 and he is the one who somehow manages to squeeze the best out of Sunil Narine. Narine and Salt opened the batting and Salt started the aggression but we all knew who was going to be the main attacker.
Narine started with a boundary to Yash Dayal and he got Alzarri Joseph against whom he has amazing numbers with bat. He smacked Joseph’s two 145kmph+ deliveries for sixes in that over and the game was on. Vijaykumar Vyshak and Manoj Dagar removed both openers in the 7th and 8th over but the damage was already done with KKR hitting 85 in the batting powerplay.
KKR then needed 98 runs off 84 balls which was easily chasable when you look at the KKR batting lineup. Venkatesh Iyer and Skipper Shreyas Iyer took the charge and led their team to the winning total. Venkatesh Iyer lost his wickets just 16 runs from the target but Shreyas and Rinku Singh made sure no further damage and chased down the target with 19 balls to spare.
