Team India has been divided into two different groups, says Shoaib Akhtar.
T20 World Cup 2021: Decorated Pakistani pace gun Shoaib Akhtar has expressed his concerns over team India’s performances in the ongoing World Cup as the Men in Blue sustained a double blow to start their T20 World Cup 2021 campaign.
India first lost to Pakistan and then in the second encounter, the Kiwis drubbed India by eights wickets to put Virat Kohli and his men on the lean rope that is likely to eliminate the team with one more wrong step.
Akhtar, who is usually seen giving his opinions on cricketing events, reckons that team India may be divided into two separate groups with one of the groups going against Virat Kohli. The former pacer’s remarks came after team India endured another defeat against New Zealand, last Sunday.
“Why I can see that there are two camps within the team? One is with the Kohli and one against Kohli. It’s crystal clear. The team is looking divided. I don’t know why this is happening. Maybe it’s because of his last T20 World Cup as a skipper. Maybe he made wrong decisions, which is true. But he’s a great cricketer, and we have to respect him,” Akhtar said.

He further slammed India for their attitude on the field after they lost the toss against the Kiwis. Indian cricketers seemed disappointed and deflated when the toss favoured Kane Williamson and he opted to field first.
“Yes criticism is important because they played bad cricket against New Zealand and had the wrong attitude. Yesterday, after they lost the toss, everyone’s heads were down.
“They had no idea whatsoever. India, you only lost the toss by that time, not the whole match. They were just present there, and had no gameplan whatsoever.” Akhtar signed off.
Virat Kohli-led team India is scheduled to play its next match against Afghanistan on 3rd November in Abu Dhabi. From here on, every match for India is a do or die contest.
