Team India to leave for the UK on 2nd June for the six Test Games, Families to accompany them.

The Indian Test contingent is scheduled to board a flight to the United Kingdom on 2nd June after completing a mandatory eight days hard quarantine in Mumbai. In the marathon tour of three months, India will play six test games which include one marquee final of the ICC World Test Championship against New Zealand.

As the tour will be long, the families will also accompany the cricketers in the UK. India is scheduled to play five games Test series against England post the final of ICC WTC.

The five games Test series will begin on 04th August.

“Indian team will have eight days of hard quarantine (confined to hotel rooms) in India with mandatory negative RT-PCR reports on the second, fourth and seventh day required to board the flight,” said a senior BCCI official.

“Since India will have a bubble-to-bubble transfer, it needs to be seen if the 10-days quarantine can be reduced a bit. However the players during the soft quarantine can undergo training. In any case, Hotel Hilton where the teams will be put up in Southampton, is a part of Ageas Bowl property.”

The final of the ICC World Test Championship against New Zealand will begin on 18th June.

The player’s families will join them in the tour however it is still not clear that they will join from the beginning of the tour or will come after the final of ICC WTC. Since there is a gap of over a month after the final, player’s families can easily join them later.

The players will also take their first dose of the vaccination by the time they board flights for the UK on June 02. However, Prasidh Krishna, who has recently tested covid positive, will be the concern for the BCCI.

It is also learnt that the BCCI president Sourav Ganguly and Secretory Jay Shah will also mark their presence in the final of the World Test Championship at Ageas Bowl.

“Both president and secretary are supposed to be present during the World Test Championship final as of now,” said the source.
