Team is 95% settles for T20 WC, but we need more answers: Rohit Sharma: As India peaks exit doors with one eye following two consecutive defeats in Asia Cup 2022, skipper Rohit Sharma reckons the team combination is largely settled, but they are still looking for a few remaining answers.

The Indian side competed with just two frontline pacers – Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Arshdeep Singh – in the match against Sri Lanka. All-rounder Hardik Pandya was the third medium-pace option.

India lacked its third seam option and lost two consecutive matches after taking the game to the final over. Avesh Khan’s absence was felt in the Indian dressing room.

“It’s 90-95 per cent settled, just a few changes that will happen,” Rohit said of the team combination after a humiliating defeat against Sri Lanka on Tuesday.

The Indian captain talked about experimenting with the balance of the side as far as bowling combination is concerned.

“When you talk about experiments, yes, we wanted to try out certain things. If you look at the combination we have been playing before the start of the Asia Cup, it was with four seamers, two spinners and the second spinner was an all-rounder.

“I always wanted to try and find answers as to what happens if you play with three seamers and two spinners, and the third spinner being an all-rounder. We are still looking for answers,” he explained.

“I want to be prepared for the World Cup where you are challenged as a team. When you go to the World Cup, you want to have all the answers. Since Hardik Pandya has come back, we have played with 3 seamers.

Rohit seems to have taken these defeats against Pakistan and Sri Lanka positively. He still said that there are a few unanswered questions and wants to clear them before the team heads for the T20 World Cup 2022.

“It’s good to know what can happen when you play with three seamers, two spinners … These defeats teach us a whole lot of things,” he added.
