The Mumbai Indians vs Kolkata Knight Riders marked the lowest score of IPL 2025, and the architect behind it was the new debutant for Mumbai Indians, Ashwani Kumar. The left-arm ran through the Knight Riders innings with his stunning four-wicket haul.
Ashwani Kumar also aced another record when he came in to bowl the fourth over of the IPL matches between MI and KKR. The medium pacer dismissed KKR skipper Ajinkya Rahane on the very first delivery of his IPL debut.
After Rahane, he also got the wickets of Rinku Singh, Andre Russell and Manish Pandey as he helped MI ensure a low-scoring game, chasing which they could take their run-rate higher over many teams.
Ashwani Kumar went on to become the first Indian player in the history of the IPL to have picked a four-wicket haul on his IPL debut.
