Vivo IPL 2021: The fourteenth edition of the Indian Premier League is all set to kickstart from 09th April in Chennai. Defending champions Mumbai Indians (MI) will take on Royal Challengers Bangalore in the tournament opener. However, there have been some setbacks that each team is facing with the unavailability of their players in the first few opening games of the IPL.

While some players have personal reason while some are having injury issues. National Duty is another reason for the unavailability of the players. In this article, we will take a look at all the cricketers who are unavailable for the first couple of games.

Total unavailable players for the opening game of each IPL franchise:

Mumbai Indians: The five times title winner got a setback ahead of the IPL 2021 as wicketkeeper-batsman Quinton de Kock will be unavailable for the first four games. The opening batsman is part of the South Africa and Pakistan limited-overs series and is allowed to travel after the first few games.

Chennai Super Kings (CSK): MS Dhoni and Co. will have to miss out on two players. South African pacer Lungi Ngidi is part of the South Africa vs Pakistan limited-overs series and will miss the first three-four IPL games.

Apart from him, all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja’s availability is an issue for CSK. The cricketer is out of action after sustaining a thumb injury in the Australia tour. According to Kasi Vishwanath CEO of CSK, “We really don’t know when Jadeja will be joining us. He has to be released by the National Cricket Academy (NCA).”

Delhi Capitals(DC): As said earlier, South Africa is hosting Pakistan for a long tour comprising of all the format games. Two premier pacer from DC are from South Africa and are part of the limited-overs squad. Both Kagiso Rabada and Anrich Nortje will fly to India after permission from Cricket South Africa (CSA) and will miss the first few games.

Apart from these, Delhi Capitals (DC) regular skipper Shreyas Iyer has dislocated his left shoulder due to which he will have to miss out on the whole tournament.

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH): Mitchell Marsh will be unavailable for SRH. Marsh said that he cannot spend a long time in the bio-secure bubble and that’s why he will be out of the tournament, according to cricbuzz.

Cricbuzz also reported that SRH has roped in a replacement of Mitchell Marsh from England as the cricketer did well in the recently concluded India-England series.

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB): Australian spinner Adam Zampa will not be the part of RCB squad for the first couple of games. The cricketer is getting married and the RCB director of Cricket Mike Hesson confirmed the development.

Rajasthan Royals (RR): England premier pace bowler Jofra Archer will miss the first few games for Rajasthan Royals. Archer has recently undergone hand surgery to get rid of the glass fragment. He is going to miss at least four games in the beginnings for RR.
