Two UAE Cricketers suspended by ICC found guilty of fixing matches.
ICC: International Cricket Council (ICC) has suspended two UAE players when found guilty of illegal actions. Reportedly UAE?s Mohammad Naveed and Shaiman Anwar Butt on Tuesday suspended by the ICC after the cricketers were found to be involved in match-fixing during the ICC T20 World Cup qualifiers 2019.
Naveed and Shaiman were found responsible for the two offences under ICC Anti-Corruption Code. Both the cricketers exercised their right to hearing before tribunal prior to the suspension letter.
?The pair remain suspended and sanctions will follow in due course,? the ICC said in a statement following a hearing by an independent Anti-Corruption Tribunal.
?Former UAE skipper Naveed and Butt were involved in the part to affect the result of the games. An effort to fix, influence or contrive the result, progress and conduct of the match or matches at ICC Men?s T20I World Cup qualifiers 2019.?
"The duo is also found guilty of not informing ACU full details of the approach, invitation or message received to them to control the result of the game in corrupt conduct under the (anti-corruption code)? at the same tournament.
UAE cricketers suspended for breaching ICC anti-corruption laws
The former UAE skipper Naveed and pacer was also found guilty of the same offence during the T10 league in the same year.
Back in October 2019, three UAE cricketers including the two aforementioned and a participant from Ajman were charged with the 13 counts of the breaching the ICC anti-corruption rules. The players were suspended with the immediate effect.
ICC will take strict decisions for the Butt and Naveed who tried to violate the rules and regulations during the qualifiers of ICC T20 World Cup Qualifiers 2019. These players apart from suspension will have other immediate effects on their cricketing career.
ICC has been strict about the anti-corruption rules in the past and will keep going even more strict in the future.
