UEFA Champions League 2023: Chelsea VS Real Madrid, Quarter Finals, Preview, Predictions, Line Ups.

The Champions League will be wrapping soon. Here is a quick preview of the second leg of the Chelsea VS Real Madrid quarterfinal game of the UEFA Champions League.

The Champions League race to the finale is heating up. The Chelsea VS Real Madrid game will be another display of the same. Both the top clubs of Europe will lock horns against each other. The clash on display will be elite. We will see several small contests among this big contest. We will see Rudiger taking on Kai Havertz, we will also have Reece James VS Vinicius Jr, and Enzo Fernandez VS Camavinga too. This game is just too special as it features the Champions League winners of 2021 taking on the Champions League winners of 2022. Here is an in-depth look at how the teams are shaping up:

Chelsea Preview Before Champions League Match:

Chelsea is having the worst phase of this season. Of their last 5 games, they have lost the last 4 games. They are on a 3-match losing streak. It cannot get worse than this for the team. Todd Boehly needs to seriously think about it. The club looks like a sinking ship. They need to rope in a full-time manager.

Enzo Fernandez, one of the most expensive players in history of the Premier League, is not able to deliver according to his abilities. IMG SRC: Chelsea.

Lampard is fine, but another experienced manager can certainly turn things around for them. The players just seem to lack motivation. A victory against Real Madrid at Stamford Bridge is possible and it is one way to boost the confidence of the squad. Reece James will be their main man at the back. Mykhaylo Mudryk is expected to start ahead of Raheem Sterling.

Chelsea’s Last 5 Games:

  • 01st April 2023, Premier League, Chelsea, 0 – 2, Aston Villa
  • 05th April 2023, Premier League, Chelsea, 0 – 0, Liverpool
  • 08th April 2023, Premier League, Wolverhampton Wanderers, 1 – 0
  • 13th April 2023, UEFA Champions League, Real Madrid, 2 – 0, Chelsea
  • 15th April 2023, Premier League, Chelsea, 1 – 2, Brighton & Hove Albion

Real Madrid Preview:

Real Madrid is on a roll as it has always been. The team has scored 16 goals in its last 5 games. Winning 4 games out of the 5. The last game at the Bernabeu was fun. Vini Jr was their main man on that eve. He was toying around with Reece James. Vini’s pace simply seemed unmatched by Reece’s. Reece was outpaced by Vinicius.

Toni Kroos Champions League
Toni is expected to stay on the bench due to “muscular overload”. IMG SRC: Real Madrid

They will not be looking to do anything exotic. The presence of David Alaba in defense gives them another boost. He may start ahead of Rudiger. The Los Blancos may go for a more standard 4-3-3 formation rather than their 4-4-2 formation. Vini and Toni Kroos, however, are doubtful starters, they have “muscular overload”. Ferland Mendy is also out due to a calf injury.

Either Karim Benzema or Eder Militao might be the scorer for Real Madrid, but the game will most probably end in a draw. IMG SRC: Real Madrid.

The game will end in a 1-1 or a 0-0 draw. And it will be Real Madrid who will proceed to the semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League. The Champions League has always been kind to Real Madrid and this is going to be another example of it. Their crucial man in defense will be Carvajal in the wings. He will have to cover a lot of ground. For Chelsea, their key man will be N’Golo Kante.
