WPL Points Table 2024: Amid the chants of RCB RCB, Delhi Capitals stole the match with an all-round show and handed the Royals the first loss of the tournament. The Capitals are now leading the TATA WPL Points table 2024 with authority after two wins in three games. In this post, you read the updated WPL Points Table After Royal Challengers Bangalore vs Delhi Capitals Match no- 7.

After seven matches in the tournament, every team has lost at least one match and only Gujarat Giants are one left to win a game. A full-fledged all-around teamwork of Delhi Capitals was seen on the ground last night where they first put a huge total on the board and then successfully defended it despite an excellent effort from Smriti Mandhana.

RCB vs DC Match Review

Smriti Mandhana won the toss for RCB and opted to field first. The most successful opening pair in the history of WPL; Shafali Verma and Meg Lanning were out for the Delhi Capitals. Shafali Verma started his duty right from the first over of the game as Meg Lanning on the other end was struggling and got out as well after 11 off 17. At the end of the first powerplay, Delhi were 45 for 1 down.

Shafali was set in the middle and was creating problems for RCB bowlers, and in the meantime, Alice Capsey also started flexing her muscles. Shafali smacked a half-century and departed just on the next ball while Capsey(46) kept on bashing from the other end until a sharp yorker of Nadine de Klerk took her bails off.

Just IN Kapp and Jonassen then made merry with exciting cameos as DC took the bowlers apart in the death overs. The last four overs went for 61 runs thanks to Jonassen and Kapp which put Delhi Capitals in a commanding position with 194 on the board.

RCB got the exact start they would have wanted, 52 in the first 6 overs. Smriti Mandhana played the anchor role with 45 runs in 28 balls whereas Divine played just 8 balls in the first powerplay. That duo was rapidly scoring runs around the asking rate and Delhi desperately needed a wicket which came in the 9th over bowled by Arundhati Reddy.

The asking rate rose up a bit and that pressure with an absolute peach by Kapp took Mandhana’s off-stump out of the ground and RCB were all of a sudden under huge pressure. Sabbhineni Meghana hung on there but her strike rate was well below what the asking rate was.

After the wicket of Mandhana, the Delhi Capitals completely grabbed the match and took wickets in pairs. The top 3 batters scored 133 runs in 91 balls and that not going to be enough out of those balls. Jess Jonassen was too good with ball and bat in the match and Delhi Capitals won the match by 26 runs.
