On Tuesday (4th February), BCCI added Varun Chakravarthy added into the Indian team for the ODI series against England. The mystery spinner wasn't part of the ODI squad, but with the way he performed in the T20Is, he made selectors to add him to the team.

Varun Chakravarthy picked 14 wickets in the T20I series against England and troubled the batters all throughout the series. He also became the bowler with the most number of wickets for India in the T20I series and also won the Player of the Match award.

The reports in RevSportz claimed that Varun Chakravarthy has been added to the team so that India team management can see if he is fit to play the ODI. If he impresses management, then he is likely to be added to the team for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.

Varun Chakravarthy is yet to make his debut for India in ODIs

Varun Chakravarthy is yet to make his debut for India in ODIs. The reports in Indian Express recently stated that he is poised for the debut in the first game against England, but the major question remains who he will replace in the team, especially with every player having a defined position.

Varun Chakravarthy will be entering the ODI series on the back of his staggering performances with the ball in the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2024-25. He was the second leading wicket-taker in the tournament as he picked 18 wickets in the event and, in all, has played 23 games in the format.

Varun Chakravarthy made his comeback into the Indian team during the T20I series against Bangladesh. Since then, he has been putting in hard yards and is consistently performing for the team in the shortest format of the game. He would be keen to replicate the same heroics in ODIs as well.
