Virat Kohli REJECTS BCCI's request to continue playing Tests, batter firm on his stance
India National Cricket Team batter Virat Kohli has made up his mind that he won't be playing Tests anymore. As per the reports in Times of India, it is learned that the right-hander stood firm on his decision despite the attempt by BCCI to persuade him.
Virat Kohli made the headlines after the reports of him telling to BCCI that he wants to retire from Test cricket. The right-hander conveyed to the governing body that his time in the longest format of the game is done, and he wants to play just ODIs.
Virat Kohli reportedly told his teammates in Australia that his time is done, and he wants to play just the 50-over format. His decision came after he had a horrible time in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25, where he managed just 190 runs across five games.
Following Virat Kohli's decision, the BCCI is in talks with him and is asking him to stay there and play. The governing body reportedly has asked some influential person to talk to the batter and convince him to play.

But the batter seems to be firm on his stand and wants to retire. The source close to developments confirmed the same, saying that the final call will come close to the selection meeting next week. Speaking to the Times of India, he said:
"Kohli had informed the selectors two weeks ago (about his desire to quit Tests). They were trying to persuade him to play in the Test series against England. However, he is still firm on his stance. The final call will come close to the selection meeting next week."
Virat Kohli has been India's best batter in the Tests as in 123 games he has slammed 9,230 runs at an average of 46.85. However, in the last few years, his average has taken a massive dip as he has amassed 1,990 runs in 37 games with just three hundreds.
