Vivo IPL 2021: Devdutt Padikkal Tests Covid Negative, Joins RCB camp.

Vivo IPL 2021: Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) star opener Devdutt Padikkal has joined the RCB camp after returning covid negative recently. Padikkal is now with RCB in Chennai following all the BCCI protocols and safety precautions. He was tested covid positive on March 22 and since then the cricketer was at his home in Bangaluru in isolation.

RCB confirmed the development after the franchise posted a video on their social media handles, “As per BCCI and IPL protocol, I had to quarantine at home for two weeks. Now I have joined the camp after two negative tests, and I am feeling completely fine now, and I just can’t wait to get back out there and join the RCB camp,” Padikkal said in the video.

The RCB opener thanked all his fans and well-wishers for their kind wishes. Padikkal had a blasting IPL debut season last year where he emerged as the highest run-scorer for his franchise RCB with 473 runs in 15 games including five half-centuries. For his brilliant form, he was also given the emerging player of the season award by IPL.

He will surely open the innings for RCB along with skipper Virat Kohli. Although, it is almost certain that he will not play the first IPL game due to protocols.

The 20-years old cricketer was in prime form in the domestic series earlier this year. He scored 218 runs in the 6 innings of Syed Mushtaq Ali trophy 2020-21 and amassed 737 runs in the seven games of Vijay Hazare Trophy. In the 50 overs tournament, Padikkal smacked four tons and three half-centuries and played with an average of 147.
