No wonder this game between the two IPL giants is called the ‘El Clasico’ of the IPL. The Mumbai vs Chennai game of the Vivo IPL 2021 broke several records of the past and is continuing it.

Game number 27 of the Vivo IPL 2021, Mumbai Indians (MI) vs Chennai Super Kings (CSK) has been recorded as the most-watched mid-season game in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL). According to the data of BARC, The game held at Delhi’s Arun Jaitley Stadium recorded 11.2 billion minutes, which is the highest ever since the inception of the IPL.

The encounter between the two is also the most watched IPL game of the fourteenth season.

The encounter went on to become a last-ball thriller as Kieron Pollard took his side Mumbai Indians to a four-wicket win against CSK. Mumbai Indians (MI) were reduced to 81/3 in 9 overs when Kieron Pollard stepped into the rectangle to rescue. Pollard smacked CSK bowlers all over the park and amassed a massive 87 of just 34 balls with the help of six fours and eight sixes. 

Earlier in CSK’s innings, Moeen Ali stitched a good partnership with Faf du Plessis after an early wicket of Ruturaj Gaikwad. The English all-rounder scored 58 off 36 balls with five fours and as many sixes while Du Plessis smacked 50 from just 28 balls with the help of two fours and four sixes.

Ambati Rayudu coming to bat at number 5, picked up where Du Plessis and Moeen Ali left off. In no time, the game that looked to get wrapped around 180s was taken to 218 runs as Rayudu scored a quickfire 72 off just 27 with the help of 4 fours and seven sixes.

Mumbai Indians (MI) won the game by four wickets and Kieron Pollard was adjudged as the “Man of the Match” for his brilliant exploits with both bat and ball.
