Vivo IPL 2021 PBKS vs CSK: MS Dhoni’s Chennai Super Kings (CSK) continues dominance against KL Rahul’s Punjab Kings (PBKS) as they registered their first win in the Indian T20 tournament 2021. Speedster Deepak Chahar and all-rounder Moeen Ali produced a scintillating show to defeat PBKS with six wickets.

Punjab Kings forced to bat first by MS Dhoni after the toss could not resist against Deepak Chahar’s out-swinging deliveries. 

Mayank Agarwal was bowled out by a beautiful outswinger in the first over of the game by Deepak Chahar for a duck. While Ravindra Jadeja’s rocket arm throw sent the Punjab skipper KL Rahul back to the dugout in 3rd over.

Chahar getting a good swing sent the other top batsmen of Punjab back to the hut one by one in his four overs. He dismissed Chris Gayle (10 off 10), Nicholas Pooran for a duck and star of the previous game Deepak Hooda (10 off 15).

KL Rahul’s Punjab was reduced to half inside the powerplay as Deepak Chahar shines with the ball picking up four initial wickets.

Later Shahrukh Khan tried to bring back the innings on track but there was no support left from the other end. Being the only hope of Punjab Kings, Shahrukh Khan amassed a sensible 47 runs from 36 deliveries before getting out.

CSK bowlers restricted Punjab Kings to 106 runs in the loss of eight wickets in 20 overs.

Chennai’s woes of the opening continued in the low scoring game as Ruturaj Gaikwad was sent cheaply by young pacer Arshdeep Singh for mere 5 runs.

All-rounder Moeen Ali and Faf du Plessis stitched a good 65 runs stand after the first wicket and put CSK close to the total.

Moeen Ali amassed 46 runs off 31 deliveries which including seven boundaries and one six. Du Plessis remained unbeaten on 36 runs in 33 balls with three fours and a six.

CSK won the game with six wickets as they scored 107 runs with 4.2 overs to spear. 

Shining with the ball to provide an initial boost to CSK, Deepak Chahar was adjudged as the ‘Man of the Match’ for his economical and fierce spell of 4 overs for 13 runs and picked four wickets.

With the win, CSK jumped over Mumbai Indians, Delhi Capitals to get second place in the points table with a net run rate of +0.616.
