Vivo IPL 2021: Delhi Capitals’ (DC) regular skipper Shreyas Iyer to undergo shoulder surgery on 08th April which he sustained during the recent ODI series against England in Pune.

The 26-years old cricketer dislocated his left shoulder taking a dive to his left to save runs off Jonny Bairstow in the first ODI in Pune. Iyer was later ruled out not only for the remainder of India vs England ODI series but also for the whole Indian T20 Tournament.

“Shreyas will get operated on April 8 for his shoulder injury,” a source in the know of things told PTI.

According to the report, it is expected that Shreyas Iyer will be out of cricketing action for at least four months time. 

“You know what they say, the greater the setback, the stronger the comeback. I shall be back soon,” Iyer had tweeted last week.

He dashing cricketer also thanked all the fans and well-wishers for their constant support to him during the tough times. He took to Twitter to thank all his fans and said, “I’ve been reading your messages and have been overwhelmed by all the outpouring of love and support. Thank you from the bottom of my heart to everyone.”

Delhi Capitals reached their maiden IPL final last year in Shreyas Iyer’s captaincy however this year wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant will lead the side. Pant has been named the skipper despite having experienced players like R Ashwin, Ajinkya Rahane and Steve Smith.
