Interestingly, the IPL 2021 and ICC T20 World Cup are two important events that will be held one after another.
Yet, dates for the World Cup are not announced, however, it is expected that the marquee ICC event will begin in mid-October.
The World Cup is also likely to get hosted in the UAE due to poor situations in India caused by the ravaging pandemic. The names of Oman, Sri Lanka are also on the list that will be considered to host the World Cup.
The ICC official informed that the schedule and dates for the World Cup will be released in the month of July.
“We will release the dates and venue of the T20 World Cup only in July. We cannot comment on it as of now. But there is no rule on the need for a gap ahead of an ICC event. The ICC needs 10 days to prepare the pitch and the ground ahead of an event. That too is a norm and not a rule,” said an ICC official. He added, “The rest of it is still being worked out between the BCCI and the ICC. We can talk about it only later.”
