India batter Shubman Gill was the shining light for the Rohit Sharma-led side in their first game of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 against Bangladesh. The match took place at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai on Thursday (20th February). 

In what was a slow and tricky batting surface, Shubman Gill oozed his class with the bat and guided India to win. The batter played a vital innings while opening and made sure that he carried his bat through and helped the team start the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 on a high. 

Shubman Gill batted in a pressure situation and looked very calm even when wickets kept falling at the other hand. The right-hander played the situation pretty well and ensured that he remains not out to take his team home, slamming a terrific century with the bat. 

Shubman Gill hit his second consecutive century in the ODIs and earned huge praise from the people around him. The opening batter, who is the No.1 ODI batter, ended with the innings of unbeaten 101 runs off 129 balls and slammed 9 fours and 2 sixes in his innings. 

Shubman Gill won the Player of the Match for his heroics and he also received a special gesture from skipper Rohit Sharma. As the batter was walking up, the captain bowed down to the young batter and applauded him for his magnificent innings under pressure.

Shubman Gill talked about his innings, saying that his was one of his most satisfying innings and is very happy with the way he batted. He revealed that team management sent him a message to bat till the end, and he is happy that he performed the role to perfection. Speaking to broadcasters, he said: 

"Definitely one of my most satisfying innings that I have played and my first century in ICC events. Very satisfying and very happy with the way I performed. The message was sent from outside that I have to try to bat till the end and that's what I tried to do."
